Painting Walls with a Paint Sprayer

  • Three months ago we moved into this small rental house, and I have painted every wall with the Home Right Finish Max Super paint sprayer. This video shares about the process I use to quickly and easily paint a room in just an hour.
Here is the direct link to the sprayer I use: amzn.to/2gD578a
I've been sharing regularly on my Instagram Stories (@livefreemiranda) about painting, moving, and settling into our rental house. I was surprised so many people have never painted a wall. For years I painted with a roller, and since discovering the sprayer I won't go back! It sprays so evenly, nicely, and quickly!
I'm a totally amateur painter, DIY-er, and know that there are lots of ways to approach this project. This video is meant for beginners and new sprayer users who want to learn some basics and hear a detailed explanation of the process.
    Happy Painting!

I have the same sprayer and love it! You are very informative about the product and your tactics. Saves so much paint! I don't want to be one of those "haters" but just wanted to give you a few tips that I learned over the year of spraying my whole house. So the tiger-stripes that you're getting is why it takes a lot longer. If you use the roller (+) and (-) switch, and maybe try the different fan tips, start from spraying a practice piece about 10" away and slowly add material until you can keep painting with 1/3 overlap with zero tiger-stripes and also not so much that it splatters on the sides. If its splattering then slightly thinning maybe 10% will help tremendously! Also, definitely purchase those $.99 test spouts where you pour in your paint and count how many seconds it takes to drain. Then you will be spraying the perfect viscosity and won't have to make several passes. One I got mine dialed in I just did 1 coat with 1/3 overlap and I like the super white and when sprayed on previous white it was a breeze. Took 10 minutes to paint a room compared to an hour! Hope I don't sound negative, just want you to love your machine even more! Keep up the awesome work and attitude! God bless.

Proffessional Painter here, the reason you don't ever "Spray walls" the way you did is because it leaves no texture. When we do use guns to shoot walls we also have a guy followup with a roller right behind us (while its wet) so the wall gets the roller texture. Why absolutely give the walls texture? Because sooner or later there will be repairs/touchups/etc. You can't make those go unnoticed if there's zero texture on the wall. Not only that, a pro would never use a pot gun to spray walls...

Thank you for this video. You have some people on here that are just nasty, can't spell and have to comment on your talking 'TOO' much, ( that is a spelling lesson for one of you), and / or think we want to see their profile pic that says, ' I just got out of bed and this is what a duck looks like!' They forget that they don't have to watch this video if they don't want to hear your explanation on how this is done. Yet, they'll be the first ones asking how to do this or that or never figure it out at all. I appreciate everything you covered and I will be purchasing this paint sprayer with little to no questions as you covered it all. Thank you, great video!

Hey this was a really good, simple how-to video.
Read thru the other comments. Wow...incredible. There are lots of judgmental, hateful and sarcastic people out there. Either watch or don't watch. I clicked on the names of judgemental commenters and they don't make any videos.
You keep going and do your videos, your way!

Great personality. Not sure if its the camera, but I can see some flashing on the walls. Flat paint has a propensity toward flashing. This likely because the HomeRight is an HVLP sprayer, which is better suited for cabinets and furniture where you want a fine finish and are spraying a thinner product. For walls and ceilings an airless sprayer would work better because it puts out a higher volume of paint and affords greater coverage. I've used both in my DIY adventures and found this to be true.

A bandana does not remove paint fumes! When painting indoors, always use a high-quality respirator (not a dust mask). Also, as others have said, you are painting too close to the wall--you should be at least 6" to 12" from the wall, with 50% or more overlap on each pass to prevent the banding you experienced.

Question, at 7:24 it shows you putting the suction tube on. Shouldn't that be twisted on the other way, meaning 180° from the way you did it so that when you're tilting the gun downwards like you would do for most projects, that it sucks up paint and not air? Thanks for the video, how's the paint gun holding up.

You need to back roll that for sure! It is not even at all.
Run water through it till it's clear then take it apart and clean it like you do.

I have been investigating how to paint the inside of my house and what to use...even spoke to the people that make the sprayer you use on the video. I think this was an excellent video and just ignore those that think you talk to much...how would you explain why you were doing what you were doing..or help us beginners. Excellent video...and very informative. Those that say to use another sprayer down below ignore the fact that this spray is high volume, low pressure making in easier on beginners and to control volume on painting. I am going to subscribe.

You should spray about 12/14 inches from the wall that way you wouldn’t get that striping effect
Also a much quicker and easier way would be to use a shield instead of all that taping and brushing the edges
Seriously I could spray out that room in 15 min and less for the 2nd coat.
Mind you I use a pressure pot as opposed to electric/airless !!!

Is this easy enough to do as a total novice & can it be done in sections ok without looking blotchy etc.

Tip for the future: ALWAYS remove the plates on the switches and outlets, and then MASK off the switch and outlet . Why? because at some point the switch will eventually fail and need to be replaced. When the plates is "painted on" removing them without damaging the paint is almost impossible. Also, if you ever decide to change the plates, the new choice MUST be larger than the original plate, otherwise you will see the "ols" paint around the switch plate. ..And as an electrical engineer I guarantee that it is a bad idea to spray paint into an electrical outlet.

Have you had any issues with the paint sprayer spraying out a weird, grainy look texture? Or does it seem to have a nice smooth finish?

  • @andys844
    @andys844 5 років тому +2

Using the paint lid as a pot doesn't seem like a good idea at all. It carries a tiny amount of paint, has nowhere to hold it and leaves your main paint uncovered. If you're cutting in, get an empty can or dedicated plastic paint pot, load your brush half up with paint, knock off the outside excess and just pull the paint out from the middle of your brush to give a nice line. Half the time you won't even need to tape first. Also a mask or respirator is probably a good idea when you're spraying, the furniture has more protection than your lungs. It would have been nice to see how quick the sprayer was compared to rolling or a comparison of the finish.

This lady doesn’t know about over spray. She should have masked (covered up) EVERYTHING that she didn’t want paint on!!!!! Doors windows and ceiling.
She would be much much better off using a paint roller.
Actually a paint roller is much faster.
I hope her landlord received a deposit large enough to repaint and repair the damage she has done.
Number one thing you do is get your landlord’s permission to repaint.
