This is track 1 on side 3 (second record) on the special limited edition direct-to-disc vinyl two-record set titled "Big Band Jazz", catalog number UMB-DD4, recorded in 1977 and released on the Umbrella label, a division of Nimbus 9 Productions Limited of Canada. The exclusive Canadian distributor was Superior Electronics Industries Ltd., and the exclusive U.S.A. distributor was Audio Technica U.S. Inc. There also are (very rare and expensive) CD versions recorded in 1985 (not identical and slightly inferior to the vinyl performances) manufactured by Pausa Records titled "ROB McCONNELL & The Boss Brass Big Band Jazz/Vol. 1" (PAUSA PCD-1740 DIDX-224) containing the tunes from the first vinyl record (sides 1 & 2), and "ROB McCONNELL & The Boss Brass Big Band Jazz/Vol. 2" (PAUSA PCD-1741 DIDX 354) containing the tunes from the second vinyl record (sides 3 & 4). Note that Umbrella also released another direct-to-disc vinyl recording titled "Big Band Jazz Volume 2" that is a recording of the Humber College Jazz Ensemble playing different instrumental pieces (not very good in my opinion) and not Rob McConnell & The Boss Brass. I have three copies of the vinyl "Big Band Jazz" two-record sets, one copy of the vinyl "Big Band Jazz Volume 2", and both the "Big Band Jazz/Vol. 1" and the "Big Band Jazz/Vol. 2" CDs.
I first heard this in 1982, so it was released sometime before that. The group is Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass. Thank you, Yevgeni! I've never been able to find it, anywhere.
I possess the LP to a different version of this song. I prefer that version to this, but they are both great. I have been without a turntable for 15 years, and have moved 10 times... and still have it, just waiting for the right moment to break down and by a turntable.
I'm pleased to be able to recommend Eric Van der Wyk, owner of Record Rescuers (recordrescuers.com/), who will do an excellent job at digitizing your LP for you. He recently transferred an old out-of-print Kenny Burrell album for me (Listen to the Dawn), and I couldn't be more pleased. Not only with the high quality of his workmanship, but with his personable and top-notch customer service as well. You can't wrong, and he'll take good care of you. I'll definitely be a return customer. Tell him Jeff says Hi. (He's a jazz guitarist as well.)
Miss this so much, they were a "sraple" on CBC at one time, when they used to have big production VARIETY SHOWS.😊
I feel like i've gone back 25 years or more finally hearing this again. What a great arrangement and Ed and Moe taking solos - perfection!
I'am looking this album so very hard,I really like it
I have always been looking for this version for more than 20 years. Thank you very much!
me too, i'm only know that this is Canadian jazz orchestra
Rest In Peace Ed Bickert.

Big band jazz volume 2. There are multiple versions, the one i have differs from this one. On the back of the jacket it shows PR 7141.
@@danielscheff7384 Awesome, thanks!
The arr. is Bob Lowden
Rob McConnell, actually! :)
Direct to disk, yeah? One take. One-shot deal or you gotta do the whole album over from scratch.
It will be nice try to play that tune
Now it is easy to get this arrangement, but not easy to play
