Prediction: Bossa Nova is going to make a huge comeback. One day people will wake up to the bankruptcy of today's music. And they will resurrect this solidly sophisticated genre. This is superlative stuff.
I have an infrared sauna at home with speakers and fiber optic colored lighting, and Jobim's Finest Hour is the only CD that is ever in there. This masterpiece is track 9, always right around the moment that you really start "melting". The perfect soundtrack to sweat out a long day and really slow things down. This song (and entire album) will always remind me of the sauna.
Many great Jobim early songs were inspired by water, rain. Some written at his parents home near the water. Thank you for the fab pictures of tropical sea side bay scenes. also the fab images of Jobim composing at the piano, playing guitar, singing with Andy Williams, ...
They no longer compose such like Jobim did. Great Jobim, a genious of all times and nations. No more bluse is a precious specimen of an intellectually written melody and harmony. Why i love it so, because none of them are predictable and sound totally unique in contrast with contemporary "three-cords-music".
a really perfectly timed video presentation with an amazing arrangement... the playing , of which, is Bach-like in precision but is the ultimate seduction. It's syncopation is like "Bird" in it's complexity and intricacy... but with the restrained rhythmic engine and long-form, is the study and experience of romantic restraint, timing and delay of gratification!
Joao Gilberto has the only true version of this song, even when it was written by Tom. Also, let's not talk about Jobim and his duets with Sinatra. That happened long after Bossa Nova was commercialized and commodified by American pop culture and the capitalist forces. They are the lukewarm water equivalent of the true, original Bossa Nova and MPB sound, which evoked a feeling of a deep red like a nicely aged wine. Sinatra & Jobim = lukewarm water. Joao Gilberto, Edu Lobo, Marcos Valle, Osmar Milito = Red Wine.
While I think Dizzy Gillespie did the best version of this in the 1960s, I have to pay my respects to the original composer of this absolutely beautiful piece of music.
👏👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️🎼🎼🎼 This song was used as background music in Weather on NTV in Türkiye between 2000 and 2002... 👏👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️🎼🎼🎼
Jobim starts to learn the guitar very young then the piano at 14 years, his teacher was Hans-Joachim Koellreutter, a german music composer and teacher born in 1915, who moves to Brasil in 1937. Koellreutter teach the theory of atonal music to a lot of famous Brasil musicians. (wikipedia).
No more blues I'm going back home No, no more blues I promise no more to roam Home is where the heart is The funny part is, my heart's been Right here all alone No more tears, and no more sighs No, no more fears- I'll say no more goodbye If travel beckons me, I swear I'm gonna refuse I'm gonna settle down, and there'll be no more blues Everyday while I am far away My thoughts turn homeward, forever homeward I've traveled round the world in search of happiness But all the happiness I've found Is in my hometown No more blues I'm going back home No, no more blues I'm through with all my wandering now I'll settle down and never roam And find a man and build a home When we settle down, there'll be no more blues Nothing but happiness When we settle down, there'll be no more blues

Jobim was a master of melody and harmony. We miss him.

Noe Berengena You got IT. Some of the best music there is....
Wishful thinking. But I hope that doesn't happen and that this special music continues to be saved for special ears.
I hope so
I'm helping to start that... You'll see my band one day with our Bossa album on Jimmy Fallon or something
AS soon as Bad bunny dies.... Love Bossa Nova!

Esta música é do disco "Antônio Carlos Jobim, 1963: "The Composer Of Desafinado" Plays", lançado pelo Tom Jobim nos Estados Unidos.
This makes me a peaceful mind. One sound one sound is thrilling. Why single piano tone resonates to the heart?
JOBIM!!! GRANDE E INESQUECÍVEL TOM!!! O TOM MAIOR DO BRASIL PARA O MUNDO!!!
Vai minha tristeza
E diz a ela
Que sem ela não pode ser
Diz-lhe numa prece
Que ela regresse
Por que eu não posso mais sofrer
Chega de saudade
A realidade
É que sem ela não há paz
Não há beleza
É só tristeza
E a melancolia
Que não sai de mim
Não sai de mim, não sai
Mas se ela voltar, se ela voltar
Que coisa linda, que coisa louca
Pois há menos peixinhos a nadar no mar
Do que os beijinhos
Que eu darei na sua boca
Dentro dos meus braços
Os abraços
Hão de ser milhões de abraços
Apertado assim
Colado assim, calado assim

A genius wrote this...and a FEW others !
Great song!! Love it so much
This can put you in a good mood quick.
Jobim was the best, his duets with SINATRA, etc..could not be best! The movie Bossa Nova highlighted his songs.

No more blues
I'm going back home
No, no more blues
I promise no more to roam
Home is where the heart is
The funny part is, my heart's been
Right here all alone
No more tears, and no more sighs
No, no more fears-
I'll say no more goodbye
If travel beckons me, I swear I'm gonna refuse
I'm gonna settle down, and there'll be no more blues
Everyday while I am far away
My thoughts turn homeward, forever homeward
I've traveled round the world in search of happiness
But all the happiness I've found
Is in my hometown
No more blues
I'm going back home
No, no more blues
I'm through with all my wandering now
I'll settle down and never roam
And find a man and build a home
When we settle down, there'll be no more blues
Nothing but happiness
When we settle down, there'll be no more blues
I love this version! i think it's better than the one with vocals
Grande
Grande grande grande.
