- If you would allow me a moment of sentimentality:
A little over one year ago, I created my first review. Like most starting out (I would assume), the video came about simply out as a need to voice my opinion given no other outlet to do so. At the time, I wasn’t certain if I’d even make a second review, but here we are, twenty or so videos later, and I have no plans to stop. I realize that at the moment my audience is small (miniscule, in fact), but I don’t mind. I cannot overstate the joy of creating something that is enjoyed by others, even if it be but a single person. That said, I cannot deny that the relatively recent growth in my subscriptions is gratifying in its own right. (It took nearly ten months for this channel to reach 100 subs. The way things are going, it will have gained another 100 in a little over two. Progress!) And with that, I have said all I mean to say, but must give one final thank you to the fans. I recognize and remember each and every one of you since the day you first appeared, believe me. Well, this has gone on long enough, and I can hardly be sure anyone will even read it, so that’ll do it. Thanks for watching and have a great day.

After 10+ years of watching anime, never interested in Light Novels, thís was the series that left me no choice.
What a great read it was! Actually still is,.... after the story ended we got treated to a number of volumes with short stories (vol 20 coming up) and a side story (Wolf & Parchment) with the 3rd novel already in the works!
When up to speed with the LN I'm starting with the manga.....
Same here, I usually never care about the source materials of the animes I watch. Out of over 200 series I've watched, I checked out 3 manga continuations online. _Spice and Wolf_ is the first one to make me cave in and actually buy the mangas because the story is just that awesome.
One of my favorite anime, I’m gonna cosplay for the first time as Holo for a convention in October, and J Michael Tatum is gonna be there, can’t wait to meet him 😊
I can't stand the animation not ending properly. So I spent a good money buying all 17 volumes. I think my opinion is biased, but, make sure to read them during holidays. You'll read trough the volumes before you know it.
I got the collector's edition cause where i was that was cheaper than getting all of the books separately

Just finished season 2 and it left me unsatisfied.
Two seasons of foreplay and no climax.
After reading your comment I'm really considering reading the manga.
@@YourLocalCopiumDealer you're better off reading the light novel. I heard that the manga is pretty bad even though holo actually has nipples in the manga
@@matthijscalje4143 tbh, if you wanted to see that kinda stuff, u can use Google. I think people should just read the Lns, they are better
man in a world where studios run out of new material to adept and with a Code Geass sason 3 coming Spice and Wolf season 3 isnt even thaaaaaaaaat unlikely to happen. I thought for a long tme it will never happen but i think there is a tiny spark of hope again.

@@DanielSilva-gc4xz Yeah its been a long time but i think the last spark of hope still isnt gone even tho after the 10th year anniversery been past us it does look bad. But i still think that in a world were studios are flat out running out of material to adept a comeback is possible. Season 3 should have a better risk/return ratio then many other projects that get the green light. It not needing much budget for action animation might help it out too :)

I liked Season 1 but, for some reason, Season 2 fell short. Maybe I need to give it another watch.

Holo was such a nuanced character
I like it a lot...it give a different perspective and direction for anime to take...they really do their homework and research of economy during medieval era...as violet evergarden, monster, mushishi ...spice and wolf is also unique in their own way...one of a kind
It only make sense that we don't get to see the new characters that are introduced further in the story because they arw travelling onword right
the novel is good just read a book but it can get confusing when it goes around to the economic parts

Good review. The only point in which I disagree with you is in the animation. I believe it is enough for what kind of story this one is, its forté standing on the relationship of the characters and their economics adventures. Kara no kyoukai, on the other hand (as with most, if not all, of Nazu's works) rely on impressive action and epic supernatural battles.
Many years later, but this series is still relevant. As most of you, I bought the novels for I needed to know what happened after the anime's ending.
I was so piss how it ended. *sigh* Still a good series.

I honestly fell in love with Holo, the manga, the anime, economics, wolves and added to the already existing love I had for my dog(s) and is still going strong today! Man, I tell you h'wut, I TRULY LOVE SPICE & WOLF AND THERE'S NOT A SINGLE DAMN THING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT IT!!! This series legitimately changed me... Holo literally changed me, some may believe for the better, some not, but all that maters is my belief, and I belive Holo is good for me! #Holoist #wisewolf #thepack
17 volumes of the light novel? Umm they've expanded at least another 7 to the main story and i guess made an alternate universe version idk. I occasionally just hop in amazon to see if there's another
I found out the English voice of holo (brina) also voiced Priscilla from the anime Claymore (which im currently reading the manga).

I had much the same views as your final thoughts. WHY DO YOU MAKE ME READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm currently on book 15 now. It has personally become my second favorite series of all time directly behind Naruto.
Also, Russian Dub is AWESOME (one half though)

So spice and Wolf is a capitalist romance fantacy story... I'm intrigued.
There aren't that many adult romance anime out there, but this must be one of the best.
The banter and flirting of the two main characters is excellent writing.
One of my biggest complaints would be that the merchant and trade business was portraid
(brace yourselves) superficial.
What makes the trade guilds so important in europian history is that they gave the serfs
(slaves of the aristocrats) a way to decide their own destiny, a path to freedom.
Merchants broke the power-monopoly of the crown and the church with an alternative,
they laid the foundation for big ideas such as 'capitalism' or 'the american dream'.
Much like the romance in this anime, the medieval-trade stories has a lot of foreplay,
but never gives you the climax you need.
I did enjoy it though, even if it gave me romance-blueballs.
Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a more adult romance story.
I love the characters and the opening but I can't stand what the show is based around. Economics. I'm sorry it's just so uninteresting and doesn't click with me. I don't mind watching animes that aren't about fighting because I have seen one such as NHK that has no fighting and other romance animes.
For me the economics are prob the most interesting part of the show lol

Meh, Maoyyu Maou Yuusha is better in every way.
Hell, Seraph of the End is superior to this in every way(or rather in the only one that matters.).
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha is good but this is better
