I've watched quite a few DIY scaffolding videos. Most are good. But this is exactly the kind of scaffolding I need for a similar project. I appreciate the useful tips in the comments as well. Great job. Thanks.
If the joists from the sides and center ledger are only connected to the posts with screws, be aware of the sheer strength of those fasteners; live load from multiple people, tools, and material add up. Consider upgraded fasteners, or add brackets or blocking, maybe jack studs sistered to the posts under the joists like door framing under a header, etc.
Agree, I should have mentioned that this scaffolding is built more or less just to hold me + some power tools + some few roofing tiles. The screws are quite brittle (compared to nails or brackets).
This is such a helpful video, and your production is awesome as well. Renting scaffolding may work for many people, but when you're old and slow, having something you can use through weather delays and energy levels is really great.
Great to hear! I find so much useful stuff on UA-cam myself, and it makes me very happy if my content can be of use to you 😊 Good luck with your project!
Thank you. I thought about doing something like this but I was unsure if it was a wise choice. I thought to search and find out if someone else is as crazy as I am. Now I can do it and be sure it is a wise choice.I got approved!
I have a Kiddy wamp covered Stairway to an upper duplex apartment. The roof is SHOT, the facia is SHOT from the leaking and the angles on the 1 to 2 STORY roof are horrendous/Dangerous to crawl on a roof for. This Video gave me the confidence I had back in the 80's to reroof like I did back then! Thank YOU !!! This by far is the BEST!!!
Haha, this was really creative. you got me laughing when the cat came to approve the build 🤣 And the text going up and tilt... nice touch! Really love the old style on your house. Looks so nice with the slate on the roof. Well done my friend, well done
Thank you Mr. Hansen 😊 It was a fun video to make, made on impulse. I am not used to record outdoors, so I needed to challenge myself and get some practice. Learning by doing 😋 And - of course I had to include Rocky (our cat) since he dropped by, he was the only one showing any interest in my work while I was doing it 😅
Thanks 🙂 It's 15x1500x750 oiled plywood, typically used as panels for concrete formwork. They are not very expensive, and they can handle some rainy days - and even some days with snow 😁
Same here - we are finally done with snow and cold weather here in Norway, summer is just around the corner 😎 Ahh, to many projects going on here 😋 I have two remaining rooms in the basement of my house I need to get done (that will be off camera), several motorcycle projects and I have a lot of improvements to my garage / workshop. I have currently a list of 20 projects that I have planned to make video of, and the list is constantly growing 😅
@@kihestad all sounds great we recently moved to Devon our house needs lots of maintenance even though it's only 25 years old, the people who lived here were not well so much work was neglected especially at the higher levels.
I used concrete formworking boards, it's oiled laminated plywood and can withstand wet conditions for a while. It was the cheapest material I could find strong enough to walk on and water proof
Great idea, but could you have added an L-bracket to the side of the house on each side to attach the scaffolding to? It's a more permanent solution that could be used as often as you need to get back up there again.
Absolutely possible, but I did not want to have any "trace" of the scaffolding after I was done. Having a lot of sticking out from the wall will not be very pretty 🥴
I'm a bit late to the party, but a great video again from you. One note is that the regulations also require a kick board, which is a board that covers from the base of the walking level and up 15-20cm that will prevent you from accidentally putting your foot out into the air/slipping off the scaffolding. not usually a problem from that height, but not a bad idea to have in any case. Anyway, the cat approved, so you're good to go.
Hi there good video but you left out an important detail. The most important nail is the one that goes through the centre of the X where the two cross braces come in contact!
Great point! Did I really forget to mention that! 🤔 It's just incredible how much stiffer it gets when the diagonal support arms are joined in the middle 👍
I don't know what that is, is it a website? Written instructions can be very good, but it can be tedious to get through them (I am not taking about my own experience 😂)

I spent some time making that intro, it was not very difficult to make actually 😏😊

I've heard good feedback about the woodglut instructions.

I thought zoolander was building a scaffolding
Zoolander is my brother from another mother 😅😂
Totally ridiculous
Yes, totally 😅
I know Woodglut has the best woodworking plans.
I think someone else also mentioned Woodglut, I have no idea what it is 🤔
@@kihestad It's spam. No idea if it's a real site at all, but I see these kinds of spam comments on almost every diy video.
