and prior to Harlem Nights and The Royal Family, Redd Foxx and Della Reese had iconic roles in the 70's Foxx had Sanford and Son and Reese with Chico and the Man Both shows were Top 5 Hits
@Jericho Black...Yeah it was a different time back then. He only got recognized for his Sanford & Son stints and his, albeit sometimes, vulgar comedy. He was so much more than that. One of those underestimated and underappreciated talents who today's "artists" can't hold a candle to. It's good to see D talk about him in such s positive light. That episode pf Sanford & Son she was on was tied for first as my favorite. The other episode is the one with Lena Horne. Another artist that can't/won't be equalled.
I didnt know much about Ms. Reese until Harlem Nights, then I fell in love with her. & to hear her speak so positively about The Legendary Redd Foxx made me appreciate her even more.
I met Redd about 1982 at Dangerfield’s in NYC. I sat front table to the stage. I was a huge Redd fan and he had me falling out of my chair all night. He even commented about me ( when I couldn’t hold in a laugh when he started a new Joke). When the show was over, I leaped up screamed “ YOU THE MAN FOXX!!”…. He grabbed my hand and put the other on my shoulder and said “ thank you brother… thank you!!! … he truly was so appreciative ( and he was a huge success) but I could see how sincere he was… RIP bother
The great Ruth Brown also told of how Redd helped her revitalize her career when she'd fallen on hard times and had no one else to turn to. Good man, and a great man, too.
She summed it up for all of us, I figured Redd Foxx wasn't dirty and nasty as the media put him out to be. They both were great legendary entertainer's may both of them rest in peace
I was raised up on Sanford & Son, I love ❤️me some Redd Foxx to this very day... he was my tv Uncle😁you could tell he was a beautiful Soul...I was just a little kid when the show first aired
Thank you, Della Reese! Beautiful reminiscences of your friend, Redd Foxx, and someone who made us all laugh because he just had everything including humanity. Thank you, Della Reese for your wonderful voice that's been entertaining all of us through the years. My late mother, from Japan, absolutely idolized you, Della Reese. "Don't You Know" was played a thousand times a week at our house. I can still hear the record player playing. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I have seen other videos here on youtube where acquaintances have said what a generous and kind man Redd Foxx was. Who would have known that what lay beneath that superb funnyman exterior was that kind of humanity? Sounds like a wonderful man to me. RIP Mr. Foxx.
I always pictured him that way nice kind but also funny with his standup Comedy but I know he was a very kind hearted guy I read on him said that I think him and Della were Great together in Harlem nights
I grew up as a kid listening to redd foxx 8 tracks from my uncles..I've always said...he was the best comic I've heard. It's definitely 1.Redd Foxx 2.Richard Pryor
Redd gave Pat Moritta and his wife 3500 dollars because the Moritta's were 3500 short for the closing costs on their 1st home together. After he wrote the check Redd told Moritta that as a condition of the loan Redd would not accept one penny from Moritta, he told Moritta that Moritta would make it one day and that Moritta should instead repay the gesture fowards for some other deserving soul. You may know Morrita as "A Chew" from Sandford and Son, "Arnold the Chef" from Happy Days, or as Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid.
im a young comic of 18 been doing comedy for four years and redd foxx looks just like my grandfather nd i swear this interview almost made me cry comedic legend isnt even enough to describ him
I agree with everything you just said, Redd Foxx is the #1 comic ever, and Richard is second. Sanford And Son is one of the best shows ever. And a lot of times in tv your right all people care about is money, not the stars who make the show.
From what i've heard about Redd was, he opened doors for so many. People such as Pat Morita, Gregory Sierra and others said if it wasn't for him (Redd) I probably wouldn't have had the career in Hollywood I had
when u say comedy it means redd foxx sanford and son #1 comedy redd foxx #2richard prayer who ever u want to put next u decide which eposode is the best i love um all the best the father had bless him good man i.r.s them murderer the government dont care the people there love money not people dont join no melitery....
@OBAMABInlaDENrublind Who cares if he lied. He did it to help out a friend. A friend sticks closer than a brother and thats the moral of the story, which you've obviously missed out on. There is such a thing as a good lie vs. a bad lie. He saw his friend was hungry and needed a job so he helped her out. Foxx knew he couldnt leave it up to the person he was working for to break the news to the audience because it was his lie, he concocted the story so he told the audience himself and they were
How I wish Ms. Reese named the producer who disrespected Redd Foxx. He deserves to be exposed after mistreating Redd to the point he suffered a heart attack. I hope their souls are at peace.
01:15 "The reason Red Foxx was broke..." Well, his generosity might have been part of it, but the MUCH bigger part was not reporting his income to the IRS... like a lot black "stars" somehow "fail" to do. FACT.
Della was fierce. Decent. True. Under-appreciated, like her friend, Redd.
I miss them both.
Amen
Yes, I agree, two amazing people, may they rest in peace.
and prior to Harlem Nights and The Royal Family, Redd Foxx and Della Reese had iconic roles in the 70's
Foxx had Sanford and Son and Reese with Chico and the Man

this made me tear up when she said they struggled together n shared sandwichs together. True friendship
REDD FOX WAS A PIONEER!! NEVER GOT THE RECOGNITION HE DESERVED!! LUV U DELLA!!

The dialogue they had in that movie is legendary imho.
I never heard a bad word about Redd Foxx from anyone who knew him and I have watched hours of people sharing their feelings about him.
same.
He was a very special man.

What a wonderful tribute to honor Redd Foxx's name 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 That is what you call a loyal good friend 🖤
True, what a kind human being that thanked her friend. MGBT both❤
The great Ruth Brown also told of how Redd helped her revitalize her career when she'd fallen on hard times and had no one else to turn to. Good man, and a great man, too.
Rest in power, Ms Della Reese. You, Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor and all the other greats who passed are telling jokes and having a good time up there 🙏
Alright now Red Foxx. They dont make em like this no mo. R.I.P to both legends!
She summed it up for all of us, I figured Redd Foxx wasn't dirty and nasty as the media put him out to be. They both were great legendary entertainer's may both of them rest in peace
Thank you Della Reese! Telling TRUE Hollywood stories. God bless you Redd Foxx!
Oh, Foxx was a nice guy as I thought. I love women like Della who are unfiltered.
😆 just didn't pay his taxes. IRS riped all that Bling took it.Elizabeth I'm home.
Look at the way her face lit up speaking of Redd. Can't get a nicer tribute than that.
Redd Foxx and Della Reese were two incredible people.
I was raised up on Sanford & Son, I love ❤️me some Redd Foxx to this very day... he was my tv Uncle😁you could tell he was a beautiful Soul...I was just a little kid when the show first aired
People helping people. Love it.

Rest in Heaven, Della...
I always pictured him that way nice kind but also funny with his standup Comedy but I know he was a very kind hearted guy I read on him said that I think him and Della were Great together in Harlem nights
Della was herself a treasure too!
Amen! They were both so talented! R.I.P. to them!
Redd Fox was above all a genius.
No wonder I love Redd Foxx so much! I really wish that I could have had a chance to meet him😞
I still watch him til this day. Rest In Heaven 😗
Redd was SO incredible, SO generous, SO giving, he was a beautiful human being!
I grew up as a kid listening to redd foxx 8 tracks from my uncles..I've always said...he was the best comic I've heard. It's definitely
1.Redd Foxx
2.Richard Pryor
Thank you for real truth mama Della.
A lot of times the folks with the biggest hearts come off as being brash... I've always heard that Red Foxx had a big heart.
U gotta love redd foxx...lol god rest his soul
I agree. Red Fox was under-rated. What the IRS gestapo did to him is unforgivable.
Truth. But guess what...Donald Trump openly brags about not paying any taxes, and nothing happens. SMFH
Damn i loved watching this woman could recognize her voice anywhere
Redd gave Pat Moritta and his wife 3500 dollars because the Moritta's were 3500 short for the closing costs on their 1st home together. I just saw that today on UA-cam !! GOD BLESS Redd, Pat & Della too !!
Redd Foxx was a generous man. And the way Hollywood treated him... God it makes me so angry
He has helped so many people. It's sad he died broke.
He didn't die "broke"....
He died hhundreds of thousands in DEBT.
That's how you do it 😂😂

Wow,I love watching this short information clips of celebrities I like
Hello dear, how are you doing, hope you good?
Love me some Della!
I agree with everything you just said, Redd Foxx is the #1 comic ever, and Richard is second. Sanford And Son is one of the best shows ever. And a lot of times in tv your right all people care about is money, not the stars who make the show.
There are other stories about Redd's compassion and generosity. Pat Morita also told a story about Redd's generosity.
If Della Reese is your niece then Attila the Hun is my son.
Wow!, I love watching these short informative clips of celebrities I like, better then FOX News
I can imagine Redd bent over saying his back hurt😂just to show love to a friend
Della was one of the greatest actress in America and Red 🍒 Foxx my favorite sitcom in history 😆
The Royal Family starring Redd Foxx is the greatest sitcom along with My Wife and Kids.
she is a amazing actress and i wishhhhhhhhh i cud of met redd i love his comedy
class act
When people talk about how they want to be remembered:
A person as respected as this, saying something like that..... is now my answer.
Queen Della
RIH too both too both of them
But the power's to be gave Bill Cosby all that exposure.. and look how that turned out.. Rest in peace Red..
Della is kinda scary in a principal way.
My dad met Mr Foxx at a car show in the early 70s
He got his autograph and said he was a nice man
Rest well both Della Reese & Redd Foxx
God rest your souls😣😢😭
Well I just teared up hearing this.
We shared sandwiches together we were hungry together wow they don’t make ‘‘em like this anymore
I saw Ms. Reece in a club in Atlantic City in the mid-sixties. Younger people may not know that before acting she was an accomplished jazz singer
They are together once again. #RIP
R.i .p Della Reese and Redd Foxx love you guys ❤❤
Much respect to Redd Foxx R.I.P. and Della ResseI really enjoyed your joy and presence
Redd stated in many interviews that he was a provider.
Miss Redd. A class act.
Very Interesting
Great story
From what i've heard about Redd was, he opened doors for so many. People such as Pat Morita, Gregory Sierra and others said if it wasn't for him (Redd) I probably wouldn't have had the career in Hollywood I had
Such respect
Ohh so now you going to shoot me in my pinky toe?

🙏💟🎤🥂
❤️
Whoever charged that poor Lady money to do THAT to her hair deserves a brutal beating.

I mean.... TRUE.....
BUT...
F#ck the IRS 😂😂
Pat Morita/Mr. Miyagi tells a good story of Redd helping him with buying a house.
GOOD MAN IS RIGHT!!!!!
Great story
