Sounds like it was recorded on a Nagra reel to reel tape recorder. It adds a very distinctive warm and soft character to the sound with a slight ambient hum that is barely noticeable but strangely relaxing.

Honestly she should run a course on how to speak or deliver information. She makes you want to listen to her. But yeah maybe the subject matter gets lost in the soothing feelings hehe.

Thank you CSPAN for interviewing Mrs. Toth. Her work is incredibly important beyond just this story. It speaks to a culture of misunderstood children who, as she aptly calls a “ticking time bomb”. I have been substitute teaching recently in Yonkers, NY public school system. I got n trouble for giving classes an assignment to be done during class time because the teacher did not leave lesson plans. I asked the students to write 3 paragraphs using the structure of Introduction, Argument and Conclusion and gave them several topics to choose from:
1. Is Climate Change a serious issue? Why or why not?
2. Is the 2 party system of government working? Expand on your answer.
3. What are the causes for the increase in mass shootings, especially in schools?
4. Will electric cars help or hurt the environment? Why or why not?
Can you guess which question got me into hot water?
I would guess number 1???

Couldn’t agree more on the system. I was a CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocate for a foster child - volunteer work. Whenever I brought something up, I was told with no uncertain terms, that my opinion didn’t matter. The system is all about the money. A tragedy!
Well it’s a country who not long just stopped children being sentenced to death in their justice system, so what do you expect from them?
This country cant even agree to feet poor children without throwing a fit over taxes. Of course its all about the money
I knew two sisters in foster care. They immediately put all the girls on some form of birth control as soon as they start menstruating (in Oklahoma). Both sisters were each SA’d many times in the system! So messed up. They were both finally adopted in their late teens.

It is 2 AM right now, and here I am clicking on a nice relaxing ASMR video to help calm me from the university stress. I am now horrified and questioning everything and everyone.
Also, the Johnson’s sound like they were incredibly loving, kind couple.

Ok, this is exactly the type of voice that has given me ASMR since I was a little kid. However, this story was so riveting, I just listened to it all, with zero ASMR. Fascinating and horrifying story of parents and a system who created a psychopathic child. I wish this country wasn't so damned backwards about mental health, preventing child abuse, and raising children who must be removed from their homes.
The key is the pace of the speech. Many younger youtubers whisper quiet and fast which can create tanes but its hard to sleep to.
I feel tremendously sad for the Johnson family. Johnnie is clearly a sociopath/psychopath.
I want to relax and let her voice sooth me to sleep but when shes describing a kid murdering a woman with an axe and setting her on fire... I just cant seem to fall asleep.

The story of johnny jordan was so sad😢. I really feel for johnny as he has had such a rough life, and i really feel for the family of the eoman he killed as its always hard to lose a family member, especially if it was a brutal murder! Just do sad all around😢

While look at Jennifer Toth face, I wonder as an ASMR would see sound relaxing. I listened only to find the content disturbing. Couldn't imagine falling asleep to that.

Johnnie Jordan sounds like a horrible, cold-blooded murderer. This woman, however, has one of the most relaxing voices I’ve ever heard and I could listen to her talk about absolutely anything for hours 😂

I really wonder about being lulled to sleep by a video that contains such a freaky subject matter. Your mind is at its most vulnerable while you are tired and falling asleep, why open the door to such things?Just something to think about.

She's actually incorrect about his parole eligibility. His sentences all three say, Minimum 30 yrs, 10 yrs, 10 yrs. But the sentences run CONCURRENTLY, not consecutively. So, no, he doesn't have to serve 50 yrs Minimum. He need only serve 30 yrs Minimum, which he is nearly at, now. He won't be 70, he will be 50. According to the Ohio Dept of Corrections, his first eligibility date for parole is in 2026, just two years from now. He's been in since 1996. However, as she said, after serving his entire adult life in prison, and having had a brutal murder conviction, he likely won't be considered for parole.
Too bad the topic is so shitty but she does have a very relaxing voice. And I agree the key is not whispering, it's just having that soothing sound and pronunciation.
This is some of the reasons i wont foster. Its sad because i love helping kids, but i cant risk my life or the lives of my own kids
I have ASMR and even though her voice is soothing, the story she is telling about the murders is horrendous. Kind of makes you forget the effect of her voice.

I’m only 14 minutes in and I feel like she’s done exceptionally well explaining, with detail, a very complex story of what childhood trauma (in particular) can do. She’s talking about a person not a character in a night time soap.
