36-YEAR-OLD Chelsey Bishop from Tucson, Arizona lost an incredible 170lbs through a ketogenic way of eating. Weighing in at 340lbs at her heaviest, Chelsey was consuming between 4,000 to 5,000 calories a day. The excess weight was increasingly affecting Chelsey’s health, suffering from a high blood pressure and on the cusp of becoming diabetic. She told Truly: “Before my weight loss I was in denial about how much my weight affected my life, eating was my comfort and made me feel happier.” And her wake up call happened on a day out at a theme park, Chelsey explained: “I got on a rollercoaster, sat on the seat and the lap bar wouldn’t latch over my body. That was one of the most mortifying moments of my life.” Chelsey started researching dieting and came across a friend who had lost 100lbs through a ketogenic way of eating. Chelsey continued: “I thought if she can do it, I can do it, I started the keto diet and that changed everything.” Losing half of her body weight, Chelsey is the ultimate example of a successful Keto dieter. However, she approaches the diet very differently to most: “A lot of keto followers preach against eating out, but I hate cooking, my type of food prep is looking at the menu before I go to a restaurant.” With a big following on Instagram and UA-cam as the “Ketohalfasser”, Chelsey is the ultimate proof that you can eat out and still lose weight.

How is eating that way healthier? Just because you are physically smaller does not mean your inside is healthy grease, cheese and overload of fat is not healthy. Yes she lost weight which is great. but Keto is not healthy at all. Keto is way to lose not to be healthy. If keep going that way there will be after effect to the heart and insides.

Oh gosh here we go 🙄 with over emotional comment/ reply back. Actually I know exactly what I am speak of lol. Since my degree is in health studies and nutrition and my research. Anyway people will always want to defend their bad habits. Keto is not healthy 😑. Will it help in weight-loss YES. Health and Weight-loss are two different things. And of course not sugary oatmeal is BAD. and of course Fruits, Salad and Veggies are healthiest. Must people know that but because people like to do what FEELS GOOD rather than what is RIGHT. You will defend Keto. oversaturated food with oils, sugar and processed food is bad point blank. The weight-loss is great 👍 congrats but way of eating is unhealthy just the truth. Again Weight-loss and Health are two different things many small people still get high cholesterol, high blood pressure and even diabetes.

Obviously it depends on the quantity of these foods and how sustainable/healthy said quantity is for the individual.

    • @stephaniebeffanie8956
      @stephaniebeffanie8956 2 роки тому

Not necessarily. Sometimes if you are metabolically sick, your hormones will be off because of excess insulin in your body. If that's the case, you could have trouble losing weight even at a calorie deficit. The thing about a keto diet is you start to burn fat rather than glycogen from carbs. So first, it burns all the fatty deposits in your liver and then it moves on to fat in other areas in your body. But I will say you are less likely to overeat on mostly fat and protein.

Butter the outside of the tortillas and grill on Pan still crispy. So good.. I don't like the keto bread. And I hate almond flour. My diet is pretty small in regards to what I eat... Because I don't eat meat.. my main diet consists of virgil's or zevia soda, cheese varieties, salads and veggies, tofu, some nuts and seeds and low carb ice cream occasionally. It's hard sometimes.. And I do give myself a little break occasionally and go get veggie chow mein and sprinkle on some crispy noodles about once a month... Or even take one whole cheat day.. But I don't go to crazy and I go right back on the next day for at least another month... Keep going! It's worth it!

Keto is an awesome diet and i use it during cutting phases however at the end of the day its always about calories in and calories out (something these videos not often emphasize) and the QUALITY OF THE FOOD is the most important thing. You don't just live a healthy lifestyle just because you are losing weight in a caloric deficit. What makes you think you don't? Weight loss and fitness is a lifelong journey. If you think you have it all figured out because you finally realized that you just have to consume less calories than you burn when you go and eat out you are wrong. How do you calculate micro and macronutrients at restaurants exactly? My entire point is that you will never be able to have good control over what goes into your body as long as you don't prepare the food for yourself. When was the last time you got a full blood panel test? What did it tell you? How are you going to address specific short comings in your results/diet from eating out in restaurants? At the end of the day you can eat fast food all day and lose weight as long as you are in a caloric deficit but this is still a very unhealthy lifestyle. It is not a good trait to take pride in "not being able to cook". Losing pounds is easy. Actually improving who you are is hard.

@@Cs39927 You don't know what you're talking about. Keep up with the science or stay quiet and keep your food industry funded and disproven pseudo-science to yourself.
Restricting calories on a high carbohydrate diet doesn't work for most people and there's a simple reason for it: insulin. Research it. How are you going to lose weight if you constantly tell your body to store energy?
Cholesterol isn't bad for your body in and of itself. On the contrary, it's absolutely necessary for you to stay alive. You have low-density lipoprotein and high-density lipoprotein. What's important isn't the amount of total cholesterol in your body, but the amount in relation to one another. The cholesterol that leads to cardiovascular disease is mainly Ox-LDL which drops significantly on a ketogenic diet due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Trash gut health? How do you even come up with this stuff? Your gut microbiota always changes based on the foods you eat. The little science we have on the subject in regards to a ketogenic diet has shown the exact opposite of what you're claiming. High fat, low carb and moderate protein results in REDUCED inflammation throughout the body, including the gut. Inflammation is the primary driver of chronic disease such as asthma, nasal congestion, skin conditions i.e. eczema, IBS, diabetes, hardened arteries and the list goes on.
But go on, keep trashing on a way of eating that's much more in-line with how humans have been eating throughout history. I'm sure the bought and paid for pseudo-science from the 70s by corporations such as Nestle, Kellogg's, Mondelez and Unilever is more accurate. After all, we humans took millions of years to evolve but in just the last century alone we've completely adapted our bodies to the chemicals they use in your food and a daily intake of hundreds of grams of carbohydrates. LOL!

You need carbs for your brain and heart to function properly, period. Do I think many people overeat carbs and processed sugar, of course, but to decrease carbs by a significant portion is unsustainable. I fell off the keto wagon from Sept to December for all kinds of stupid reasons. Christmas day I went back on.. Luckily I only gained 5 pounds in all that time because I didn't really go too crazy... All together now I've lost 50. I'm glad you're doing well!

You rock, Chelsey! I was just like you last summer- I couldn't exercise, I was always out of breath, and was borderline diabetic. I am 45, so I knew I needed to do something drastic because our female metabolism slows WAY down in our 40's! I discovered keto in September, and try to keep my carbs under 20. I have gone from 217 to 141 lbs. I do eat out! It really isn't that hard to find keto food out (although at home I try to eat organic, grass fed meat, which you can't typically find out). But I like to cook - ha! The thing I love about keto is that I feel like I can keep doing it long term. Keep up the great work!

An advice I can give to anyone who want to loose weight is to replace the junk food with healthy foods like chicken breast, turkey, oatmeal, veggies, fruits etc. and start running for about 30 minutes a day. Either outside or on a treadmill. This is what helped me loose around 44 pounds! If you can't stop eating junk food then just try eating smaller portions. Instead of eating a whole pizza eat two slices. Good luck!

All I really mainly eat is fruits & vegetables. Today’s breakfast/ lunch was tuna with with tomatoes, snack half orange, & dinner was a salad consisting of lettuce, corn, & salsa no dressing. Late night snack was 4 blueberries & 3 raspberries lol.

You're eating too little and because of that your body has gone into starvation mode which is what is preventing you from losing weight. If a caloric defeict is what you want, first find out roughly how many calories you need to maintain your current weight and then reduce it by 250 calories per day. Ensure you need balanced meals to make sure you are getting all the nutrients that you need. You need sources of fats and proteins and a small amount of carbs in your diet. Of course allow yourself to have a treat every once in a while, because you're trying to build a healthy lifestyle not a healthy month

Less than 1200 a day is considered a starvation diet. Your metabolism will crash and the weight loss will slow as your body desperately clings to every calorie it can. Please eat more.

As a person whose been following a low carb lifestyle since 2008, fast food is not 100% pure evil. I was able to start losing weight in high school by having a burger with no bun and a salad with nothing but vinaigrette dressing from Wendy's for dinner when my mom picked me up from school. And I'd bring my lunch from home of course, no cafeteria food. The problem is most fast food restaurants use cheap inflammatory oils that are not healthy. I limit my intake of fast food to about once or twice a month because of this. I cook my own food in olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil. There are other anti-inflammatory oils but these are the most common I see in stores.

Above all I’m an advocate of losing weight with the diet that best fits your lifestyle, and if it’s keto then go for it. But I wouldn’t be specially proud of wasting tons of money on eating out. It doesn’t matter if it’s keto or not, with takeouts you never truly learn proper feeding habits nor do exactly know what you put in your mouth. I love eating out but for the sake of my health and my pocket I limit it as much as I can. Prepping your meals at home is truly a very important habit to learn in your weight loss journey, so as exercising regularly. You hate cooking? Fine, keep it quick and simple.
