Thank God they failed this audition... If they'd succeeded, they'd never have met George Martin, and the rest , as they say, wouldn't have been history.
This was recorded when they were known as The Silver Beatles when Pete Best was the drummer. I have the album and in the music 🎵 store it was under the import section. This album wasn’t released here in America until the 1980’s because these were unreleased tracks. Ringo Starr wasn’t yet with the Beatles when this song had been recorded. It’s a great song of Bobby Vee’s cover version. The Beatles hadn’t yet developed their musical style fully but, they were on their way.
The Silver Beatles decided to drop “Silver” from their name in August 1960. Pete Best joined the group at that time. He never played for them when they were “The Silver Beatles.” The Beatles recorded this song in January 1961.
I absolutely love George's vocals on this song!!! I just wish Ringo had gotten a chance to drum on this song because I think it could've made it even better!
There`s something missing there, absolutely the Ringo`s drumming back beat, legendary and Beatles sound signature, and I would think, and maybe I`m wrong, of course, Pete Best was on drums in this audition, so DECCA staff management was not impress at all. Sorry, because my crude but very honest comment.
Bad drums and way too fast. Beatles always played songs too fast in live concerts, even with Ringo. Sounds like they wanted get in and get out in 30 minutes or less. However...you gotta love 'em. This is musician talk.
Amazing no matter how i can hear the Beatles is great. Thanks.
I remember when my uncle said "i was the same club when they were singing this at backstage and i was like wow" now uncle at 84 still remembering it
Wow does he remember were and what year ? This is history !

Somewhere at decca, 1962
He saw the band at backstage leaving after the audition .. they look lost
Did your uncle see them singing?
Love The Beatles and this cover 🖤

The Beatles great take on an old Bobby Vee song from the early 60's, why was this left off "Anthology 1"??

I am not convinced it is the Fab Four
@@user-ej5gx7ph7q It really is , there's no hiding George's style of singing.
They sound quite nervous to me. "Sing for your recording contract, boys!" Slán.
Linda essa musica
Uma pena só que não esteja nos Streams, a voz do George nessa tá coisa de outro mundo 🔥

That is not the Beatles, who is singing?
George Harrison
Yes. It's George singing.
Okay, but it sounds more like AI George.
