Easy, cheap and quick storage solution. If you’ve got the right tools you can get this project done in a day. Perfect build for the enthusiastic DIYer.
Bottom shelf just creates a mouse utopia. The floor serves as an adequate bottom shelf for things immune to moisture damage (plastic bins) and a superior "shelf" for extra heavy items.. Also, if 2nd from top shelf is placed at 38-44 inches, (depending on user height) it serves dual purpose as a stand up work bench. Equal distance between shelves is not necessary.

@@lousworkshop Very nice work! I had one in the corner of my garage from the previous owner. The home is less than 15 years old and the center definitely needed support. I'm usure when it was originally assembled, but I tore it down as it didn't match my needs. On a side note, I feel like my phone is listening as I told my wife just last night the pantry shelves were leaning. They are constructed the same way.
I like using “Tapcon” screws for securing to masonry walls. A bit faster to install without drilling. I like your corner design and may use it for shelves in my shed. I will support the inside corner because I plan to store a lot of heavier items like tools and bulk food bins. Cheers!
As a finish carpenter this makes me so happy and gour using all the right tools and jigs with proper execution! Hats off to u! Much respect have a great day n keep building ✊🏽
I made something similar to maximize useable storage space by drilling thru the edges of the shelves every 4’ or so and installing 3/8” threaded rod up into cross beams in the roof/ceiling. Sturdy, will not droop, and eats up very little shelf space.
So far so good! I don’t keep anything to heavy in that area but you’d be surprised just how strong it is. But if it does start to sag then I’ll put in a support. 😃👍
Looks great! I would consider swapping those fluorescent lights out for LEDs since you're storing stuff on that top shelf right next to them. I know I would accidentally break one at some point.
The strength really comes from the design of the shelving not the screws. Using the pocket hole system makes for a nice tidy and easy construction (especially when you’re on your own) 🙌🏻👍🔨
Hi 👋, I drilled the hole first then inserted the fixing. They’re called ‘ hammer fixings’ in the UK. They’re a combination of a nylon plug and a hardened drive screw specially designed to fix battens to masonry 😃👍🛠
@@lousworkshop ok thanks I'm in the UK as well. Found them at Screwfix. How far apart do they need to be? Would I need vertical supports at regular intervals?
I used ‘stud timber’ for the frame and OSB board for the tops and it cost about £75. It would have been a lot cheaper if the price of timber hadn’t sky rocketed! 😩
For me the aesthetics weren’t important and for the most part I can’t see the holes. I used pocket holes for this project as it just made putting it together much easier as I was on my own.
Thank you for this comment. I was all set to build a bottom level just inches off the floor, when I realized you were right, and I didn't need to do that. Thanks again.
this is just what I need in my garage. Thanks for the great ideas👍
You’re welcome 😉
I would of ran a vertical support right in corner at the front
That kreg pocket jig is probably my most valued tool since I started woodworking lol
It will sag without supports. Been there got the T-shirt I’m afraid. It’s the constant applied load that’s the problem not a quick hang off it.
Over a year on and no sagging yet!
Was going to say same thing, you need supports
Yeah I would atleast put supports in the corner.
I all depends on the weight she puts on there

Very nice. I would like to have seen support for the inside corner as it doesn’t look strong enough.
I did think about it but it took my weight and I don’t put heavy things there. It would have been more in the way.
It WILL need one over time guaranteed..!
@@lousworkshop looks sturdy to me

Nice. Support in that corner, perhaps.
Looks great… would have just used pressure treated lumber at the contact points with the garage floor.
Do you have a longer version of this video? These Quick Cuts in sped up timelines really don't help me at all😢
Wonderful work! ❤❤❤❤❤
Really like how clean it is and you've got maximum storage by not using vertical supports. Looks fantastic and very useful. Great job! I
Thanks for your kind comment. I’m really pleased with it. It’s really tidied up the workshop 👍🙌🏻😃
Great project. Would you be afraid of sagging towards the turn? I think if It gets heavy enough it would start to sag

Yes I changed the lights for led spots not long after
Nice!👌🏻
Dammmnnnnn you go woman! 😍😍😍
Dammmmmnnnnn right 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Omg I've been cutting plywood like a dingbat for so long lol love how you did it!
Thanks, glad I could help. Every days a learning day 😃🙌🏻🛠
Looks good. I think it would have been easier to build the "ladders" on the bench or floor then hang them
Good idea 👍🏼
Beautiful, well done.
wenn du die Front Kanthölzer 1 cm höher verschraubt hättest, dann wären die OSB Platten versenkt und viel schöner
Now I know where British Columbia's best lumber goes. Haven't seen wood like that in 30 years.
Looks great! I subbed!
Thanks really appreciate it, I’ve got more content coming soon 🙌🏼
You did great!
Thank you, it was a fun project 🙌🏻
Thank you for this video
You’re welcome, it was a fun project 😃🙌🏼🛠
Great job
Thank you 🙌🏼
Do you have a more detailed guide that's not a compilation vidro
Wow! Huge respect for you!
Perfect!!!
Thanks you Javier 😃🙌🏼
Why... a level on the ground... and... no suspension vertical
Love this
Wow didn’t know pockets holes where that strong. Looks very professional!

🙌🏻👍🔨
Which pocket hole kit did you use please
I'm 65 but very much a newbie at building things. Do you have a detailed video indicating directions, sizes, lengths, etc.
No sorry I don’t. It was just a quick project that I thought I’d video. But in the future I’ll do more in depth builds with cut lists and plans 👍🏼
Nice
Thanks
This is what I need in my Storage, but I can't screw anything on the walls since it's Storage RENTAL.
I’m going to make a step by step video soon on how to build ‘Freestanding Shelves’ which is perfect for your situation 😃🙌🏼
What width u gonfor the shelves? 18" or 24"?
Awsome!
Thanks! 😃🙌🏼
You should have shown the man who made this, very unfair to take the credit without showing him.
Good love.
I made that 30 years ago with more legs ❤❤❤
Not quite sure what you mean! But thanks for leaving a comment 🤣
what size are is that wood? They look a little smaller than 2x4s?
38mm x 63mm or 1.4in x 2.4in ish🤣
Did you hammer the screw into the brick wall?? Which wall plugs and screws did you use please?

@@vishalthanki the more screws you have the stronger it'll be. One every 2 feet is plenty for any weight
🔥🔥🔥🔥
What boards did you use? Measuring? On what surface? Details please. It's not helpful watching someone do this with overwhelming music. Sorry.
I’m going to make a new video soon with more detail and instructions and without music 😃🙌🏼
Nice job
Thank you 😃 I’m really pleased with it🙌🏻
Playlists ...more more 😊
What kind of paint would I need to paint those shelves?
Acrylic primer then just about any paint depending on what finish/ durability
how much did you spend? looking to do this myself

❤️
I did this as well as a work bench with 2 lower shelves than a pegboard up top to hold all my tools
😱
Easy for you, not for 99% of people. 😅
They can learn, just like I did 🙌🏼🤣
can sleep 7 people
You must abhor seeing screw screw heads because pocket holes are totally unnecessary otherwise

i personally think women make better workmanship
🤣🤣🤣 I’m saying nothing!
Where’s the who video 😢
That's right, beginners, you just need to go out and buy all these tools and then infer a lot of what I edit out using the experience you don't have.
Going to sag eventually
Sag
Over a year later and not a sag in sight……….yet!
Пальцами закручиваю и пилой режу.
I’d like to see that! 🤔
See no need for bottom shelf and you better use baseboard to keep small items from getting lost underneath😅 A huge waste of materials in my opinion
The floor is being built up soon in this small area, so done for a reason👍🏼
Alot of people don't like stuff on the floor. They might put soft fabric down there who knows.
Aw, buddy- you ok?
Thank you for this comment. I was all set to build a bottom level just inches off the floor, when I realized you were right, and I didn't need to do that. Thanks again.
Some say you should ALWAYS have items off the ground in the event of any flooding. It’s a wise decision imo.
