I'm a female and first learned about shirt-stays when I worked at the Pentagon and couldn't help but notice how EVERY Marine wore their uniform like a pro. Their shirts were tucked in and fit like a 10/10. I asked a male colleague about this and he explained that they use shirt-stays. What a great invention. Wish every guy wore these. It truly makes one look phenomenal.
I cant tell you how much this video just helped. For years im the guy running to the bathroom or into a corner tucking and re-tucking to the point ive almost gone mad. The underwear tuck tip works best for me. Thank You!
There used to be a time when fathers would pass this kind of information along to their sons. Back when men were MEN. Thanks to the recent casual generations, we don't know any of these things. Even though I thought I dressed well, I realize I have a lot to learn after finding RMRS. Thanks for all the great tips and for breaking so much down for us who have been so misguided.
After watching many of your videos I have increased my confidence significantly. I'd also like to thank you for your service, I ship out for the Marines in August.
I was looking for someone who could help me out to figure out how to improve my look and self awareness. You are the right guy. Thank you for your video tutorials
Cheers from Italy coach. I am a manager and your tips are essencial. I downloaded your free e-book and am currently studying it to jazz up my look. Thank you for replying. Regards Max
+Real Men Real Style Thanks so much, I was really stressed because we got a new uniform for school and it looked really weird, being "classy", thankfully you helped me have the ability to wear it correctly.
That Military Tuck is just sheer genius. Thank you for sharing with us all the handy tips and tricks you picked up in the military that can be used to make all of us look sharper. :)
I was very preppy before but after subscribing and watching a whole ton of videos I can now officially say I am the most preppy person at my high school. Thank you.
Just a suggestion: It would be much nicer to have a demonstration of the military tuck in the video instead of just the pic and directions, exploit what the medium offers ;)
+Real Men Real Style if we needed a website url, we would have "Google" tucking in a shirt. but since we are on youtube, you should be obligated to give full demonstrations of any and all methods of tucking in shirts, outer wise change the title of your video.
My grandad used the military tuck with his RAF uniform from WWII. It's still relevant today because it's the best way. I use it all the time. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for the tips. Tried tucking the tee into the underwear and the military tuck. Made my poofy dress shirt look ten times better. No parachute behind me!
My shirt often becomes slightly untucked because I'm overweight. Working out and losing weight, but in the meantime these tips help out a lot. The presenter is excellent and manages to make engaging something most of us don't think about daily, but is useful nonetheless.
Muhammad Zaman great hearing from you Muhammad. Here's another article that should help: www.realmenrealstyle.com/gaining-losing-weight-mens-clothing-menswear-alterations-adjustments/
Good tips thank you. If I may add a few myself for people to consider. A good soldier can always use a needle and thread and taking in a shirt is easy as one two three. I can't stand the baggy shirt look and I use collar stays even on polo shirts. I make my own from discarded milk containers simply by cutting a slight radius over a 15 or 16" " length approximately 1 1/4" wide. these are measurements which are not critical. Just trim off as needed. This keeps the collar up all day and never slips if you make your terminations right angle. the corners will actually prevent any slipping or double sided tape about 1/4" x 1/4" is all that is needed if you go that route. only one side is needed as well. TO KEEP MY SHIRTS IN I also use DOUBLE SIDED TAPE a little goes a long way and never leaves a residue on the fabric and; more importantly it never fails during the day. I'VE NOTICED; A BAGGY SHIRT HIDES ALL THE HARD WORK YOU PUT IN AT WORK OR THE GYM. MY work is on the ocean floor but when I address a board room with my video presentation or Engineering calculations; I am look as fit as I am. No one ever questions the Man who presents himself and work in near perfect form. I have even experimented on this theory.
I'm a proponent of shirt stays, too. I'm a stouter man and over the last year and a half I've fluctuated weight. I used shirt stays for either making sure I stayed tucked or, when I was thinner, to give me a clean line. I've been using them since high school JROTC. I think they're a must!
Thank you SO MUCH for this video Mr Centeno. I myself who love wearing dress shirts, never heard of the Military Tuck until this video. You are so well versed in the field of style, all of who watch your videos are indeed privileged to learn from them. @______@
Great video. It's funny how all the style blogs cover this, when it ought to be one of the most basic things. And with every time it's covered, I manage to learn something new!
Tucking in shirts has been a pain for me for a long time up until now, because I simply transitioned from belts to suspenders. I've never had a problem since then, and the muffin top hides neatly under the waistcoat.
You mentioned the shirt stays a while ago. I have incorporated them into my wardrobe. Now I can't imagine tucking in a shirt without them. Thank you sir for all your great informational videos.
Another great one. I've found that by dressing really well and following your advice I can actually "intimidate" people. I went in for a job interview in January wearing a black blazer. Why? It was chilly and I just grabbed it and put it on. I was applying to be a guitar teacher. The interviewer said "I wouldn't expect you to show up wearing a blazer teaching the kids". He wanted a relaxed, fun atmosphere for the kids, and was looking for teachers that would keep the kids coming back. He didn't want to have a "serious" music school that would make kids not want to come back. But the blazer is purely utilitarian! It keeps me warm! But in Canada I guess it's just too stuffy. At my college, where I am a student in the journalism program, the enclothed cognition theory has to be proven true for me. I'm more confident in class but this confidence, combined with the sharp dressing, has led some of my classmates to refer to me as "arrogant", and some even believe that I "always know everything" and that I "think you're better than us". I sincerely believe that my sharp dressing contributes to this at least in part. I never thought dressing sharp would have negative associations. I know you live in rural Wisconsin so perhaps you can relate. Do you have any videos or articles on how to dress sharp without appearing intimidating in a casual atmosphere? I sometimes think that my idea of dressing sharp is perceived as over-dressing and makes folks uncomfortable.
I always use shirt stays but I would clip my under shirt and my dress shirt all together with the shirt stay never taught of tucking in my undershirt into my underwear and my dress shirt out with the stays great idea ! Just discovered your channel too !
Thank you. I have body image issues and try to overcome them by dressing impeccably. Everytime I have to dress up I always am conscious about the shirt flaring up or something like. Your tutorial will prevent that you're a life saver.

Perhaps talk faster. I've seen a lot of UA-camrs, talking a lot is not a problem. In fact, it actually helps. Personally I would be much more comfortable with visuals on how-to. It might be out of standard as a military, but people love to get "comfortable" with their UA-camr. When people can relate, it is more likely that they actually have a sense of respect towards to UA-camr rather than seeing it as only a video that they look to get information. People support people, they do not support inanimate things. But nevertheless, it is up to you to in how you present your videos. I still find your videos useful and at times you do seem to try and get to the viewers. I was just giving an example.
As you can see from my profile pic with my wife, I wear shirt and ties, suits, etc. a lot. I really appreciate your tips in looking great wearing them.
i've been wondering this myself for quite a while and I've always done that "military tuck" and it didn't work the best for me. But those shirt stays look like a perfect fix to not only keep my shirt tucked tight but to keep my dress socks from sinking down to my ankles Thanks a bunch!
Really good informative video and you're replying to almost all your comments. Super cool more than earned my sub and i'll show my friends this channel. Cheers!
I have stirrup style shirt stays. I have been using them for over 15 years, since I was in the military. They are the best items any man wearing a suit should own. Rather than connecting to the person's socks, they wrap around the feet and keep a much better hold throughout the day.

Excellent video, Antonio. I'd just like to reinforce the shirt stay recommendation. Once you get used to them (it took me a few days), they will keep you looking sharp from the second you get dressed in the morning to the moment you take your shirt off in the evening. People notice when, at the end of the work day, you still look crisp while others are starting to look a little rough. I highly recommended shirt stays.
Ironically I have been using the "military tuck" but had never known what it was called. This is an excellent video and plan on sharing the link with on my Facebook page so many of my friends can properly tuck their shirts. Thank you for an excellent and informative video.
