The Choir knows but sadly many will never get to realize this man’s talent. He’s a modern day Springsteen, once in a lifetime artist! Does not have one bad song, not a one.
Thanks for putting to words why I dig this Cat so much. I'm a Springsteen fanatic since about 81'. And I should have seen that. BTW, 'Crazyland' is one of the most brilliant songs/stories I've ever heard.
Ironically as a huge fan of the Boss it was Eric`s "Springsteen" being played on the UK`s Country Hits radio station that alerted to me to how good Eric was. That is such a clever song, not actually about Bruce, but loaded with references to songs that Bruce has made. I see so many of the qualities I love in the music that the Boss produces in Eric`s work. These kind of artists only come along rarely and have to be enjoyed whilst we have them. Sadly, in the UK anyway, Eric is very much an under the radar artist, known only to fans of country music. I hope when the Covid thing is over and everything settles back to some form of normality he may tour the UK and even better Scotland.
I meant to say, as much as Bruce is a great artist in his own right, combine him with the E Street band and you are in musical heaven. Likewise with Eric, an exceptional artist in his own right, but add in his backing musicians, especially Joanna and you are taken to another musical level.
Springsteen is a good musician but holds anti-American views... and I'm starting to wonder about Eric Church. I think he's been in California too much lately.

I already knew the story, and that's why I made the comment I did. But to put it into better words, I went ahead and copied it for you for better words: "On Sunday, October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd of 22,000 at the Route 91 Harvest music festival during Jason Aldean's set. Sixty concertgoers were killed and over 800 injured in the deadliest mass shooting in US history. Church had performed at the festival two days before, and when he wrote this song with Luke Laird and Barry Dean, they reflected on the tragic event. The singer dedicated "Through My Ray-Bans" to the survivors of the Route 91 mass shooting."

@iDad1976 It's not about being at his concert at all. It's about the biggest mass shooting in u.s. history during a concert, which happened at the same location where he performed, just 2 days prior. I don't find that magical at all! It's sickening and heartbreaking. That's why he wishes he could see everybody the same through his Ray Bans when he was last there, they were alive.
Again, it's not magical!

Seen EFC at Rockin' Riverfest in Merritt, BC, and the vibe in the crowd was exactly what this song is about.

Church has such a great voice and crafts a sound with lyrics that strikes at the heart and head. It’s like seeing an old friend that you have known for years and when you run into him it’s like no time has passed and you pick right back up where you where.. Eric is just one of the best song writers in music today. Not just country but any form of music as far as I’m concerned. He does not have a lot of numbers ones, but he has more unique, original and rememberable songs than most Country Singers with 50 years don’t have as many I’d know. I’m same with Kip Moore, their music is always original and that leaves a lasting memory when it comes to separating out the noise
I only have like 5 records and Eric Church is one of them. His songs have helped me through some tough times. 💯

@Michael W. Not so much "fake" but a manufactured "pop" sound. Some artists like Wallen, Riley Green, Church, Childers hold the country sound together for some us looking for the next Willie, Merle, Twitty. IMO

What a song! What an artist! Just like George Strait was in the late 80's/early 90's the Chief is always underappreciated when it comes time for the awards but he is clearly on another level when compared to his peers.

Should have more than just 1 entertainer of the year awards
Such a great song from his perspective - a heartfelt tribute to his fans. I first saw him live in 2011 in Pittsburgh when he opened for Toby Keith. As Church said to the News-Herald out of Willoughby, OH, “We’re going to come out there and hit people in the mouth - that’s what we do,” Church said. “It’s a party, and we don’t apologize for that. We want people to sit back and party and have a good time with us.” Having seen Toby Keith in Jalalabad, Afghanistan in 2008, I was excited to seem him in concert. Luckily, this guy named Eric Church was in Pittsburgh that night too. I have seen Church in concert a few more times since then and his music had become such a welcomed part of my life for the past ten years. Thank you, Eric Church, for doing what you do.

I saw Mr. Church many moons ago with The Band Perry, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, and Clay Walker at a small community playhouse/theatre in the city of Miramar. It was suppose to be an unplugged concert. Except for Mr. Church, the other artists should up with their full bands and electronics. Mr. Church arrived fashionably late wearing a hoodie and very, very dark sunglasses with just his beat up guitar. Mr. Church blew away the other acts. They seemed like high school performers and bands compared to the solo act of Mr. Church and his guitar. He played the crap out of that beat up guitar! He pounded every inch of that guitar! It was very evident on that day that he was destined for greatness. Sadly, The Band Perry won new artist of the year. Mr. Church's songs, writing style, performances, and albums are getting better and better each year. I am a huge fan!
