Music video by Eric Church performing Lightning.
#EricChurch #Lightning #Remastered
Still one of Eric’s best songs, IMO.
One of the most powerful songs ever written, and he never got any respect for it.
Well, it landed him his record deal, ergo his career. So I'd say it didn't do too shabby lol.
Hope she forgives me
It never got him any respect for it because at the end he basically blames his crying, hungry baby for him
Robbing that liquor store. For whatever reason, he couldn't go out and find a job. I hear Waste Management is always hiring garbage men. If nothing else, mow lawns. People these days are too busy to do their own yard work. The point is there are lots of ways to make money instead of robbing a liquor store and using your crying baby as an excuse.
Kenny Deborde ✨
This is one of the best and saddest songs written by anyone. It points out God's forgiveness for those who ask for it, but also the pain and suffering that can be caused by senseless acts that Eric wrote about. Extremely powerful.
It’s beautiful. I’ve literally searched for Jesus while on the jail room floor. Powerful.
If Eric Church recorded for 25 more years I don't think that he could top this song...
this song has 2 million views and I've never met anyone that knows it. Apparently it's so good that we listen to it over and over again.
Dank Guac one of my favorites
One hellla song!!
Its because 1.9 million are from me
Maybe the people you know are ideots .start hanging with some real people and ya find difrent
Thats cause people are to busy listening to baby shark. And yummy yummy
I just saw Eric Church in concert for the third time in the past two years. Cheyenne Frontier Days. I've been attending live concerts for the past 42 years and Eric Church might be the best live performer that I've ever seen. Crazy good live.
This song NEEDS to be added to every tour stop! It's such an emotional song--and EC concerts are nothing but emotion. Put it in every list set EC!!!
This aged well!! I was at the show in Greenville, SC a couple months ago and absolutely did not expect to hear this song but he wound up closing with it! I was so excited lol
Hi ERIC & everybody, have a nice day 💚💚💚💚💚
Hi ERIC & everybody, have a nice day 💚💚💚💚💚
Hi ERIC & everybody, have a nice day 💚💚💚💚💚
Omg what a song!!!!! Praise you Jesus for your mercy and grace!!!
Really that's like the thief that hung on the cross beside Jesus, he said lord please remember me when you enter your kingdom, and Jesus said this day ye shall be with me in paradise
Amen
@@bobbyjohnson7874 welcome to paradise
may all crimminals find gods love and forgiveness and embrace it
Amen
In my opinion one of his best songs. He’s a powerful storyteller!
His "Sinners Like Me" album has got to be the best.
Absolutely the best I listen to it everyday. Going to the concert the 24 in
24th in Cleveland can’t wait.
Luke Combs has called this the greatest Eric Church song of all time
Was
I’ll
not to sure olt luke has the crafte' to make that distinction of EC
I feel bad because you shouldn't have Rob that store like that was messed up in jail but I think this is the most powerful song and most saddest song me and my dad my mom loved it
i Agree!
I'd argue to say two pink lines
Eric Church is the embodiment of real country music in today's day and age. He sings about real life, and doesnt give a damn what people think. you will always have a fan right here!!!
Amen 🙏❤️
Never fails, teary eyed and goosebumps every friggin time. This is music.
Pretty sure this is the song that got Eric Church his first publishing deal. Most people don't realize how talented of a writer he has been his entire music career
This guy has a god given gift of perfectly matching awesome lyrics and incredible melodies
He is an amazing song writer. When i tell people about eric church this is one of those songs I tell them to listen to
Or a man who was gonna die young...its amazing how Kris Kristofferson-to beat the devil, is the reason why Church is even around today. Just amazing how one artist can save another
The man is a lyrical genius
Church is the best writer in the biz. Never a bad song when it comes to the Chief!
I was raised on George straight and Clint black Dwight yokam and when Eric church came out my dad had passed away I quit listening to music for awhile but three years ago I found one of my all time favorites one of the best story tellers pure talent 😅
One of the greatest singer/SONGWRITERS that has ever lived!!! Pure 🔥. Love this man!!
This song not only represents what Erich Church is about, but what real country is about. The good times and the worst. Because we are all human, from sinners to saints. We are not perfect, only our actions dictate our lives, though that path to hell is paved in gold... I'm glad that songs like this have not got radio play and exposure on TV, because songs like this separate real fans from fairer-weather. I just hope that when I die the lord will forgive me for all the sins in my life...
This song and the movie Firing Squad in the same year tells me god is screaming Thou Shall Not Kill
God bless Eric church for songs like lightning and I love her like Jesus does
This video is absolutely haunting, the lyrics are chilling, and the song as a whole is just so perfectly done. Eric church is a true savior of the country genre just when it’s become so watered down and terrible by these pop/bro-country bands.
I could listen to Eric Church sign, forever, Lord bless him
Hope with you may those walls crumbling
EC is a story teller. All of his songs mean something. Great writing, music and lyrics. There is not an artist out there today that can achieve what he has.....
This Song HITS YOU in your Heart and Gut feeling every emotion possible!!
Kord Douglas that's just how he does it!
i saw an interview recently and Eric was asked what inspired this song he replied that after watching the movie "the green mile" he wanted to try and capture what the inmate may of been thinking and feeling, this is a great song
This makes more sense (see my comment above). The themes of redemption ring true for all humans as well as shame, fear and the release upon death's mercy but the story makes a lot more sense from the perspective of a man of color (Green Mile). That helps me get the song more.
Through Jesus all will be forgiven
Did anybody else cry
Lyrically his best song.
AMEN Brother
cameron pinter wrong. Lyrically anything out of his mouth is equally his best
Not anymore - he's got a few more even better! Some of it!
No question
Country Music Jesus was also good
I'm thankful my dad didn't just do any wrong only got in trouble 31 yrs ago and when I got meet him all over again at 14 yrs old and from 14 yrs old to now of going on 32 yrs old I forgave every thing he did and love my father the way he is and the way he cleaning his self up over the yrs and man he is now .
This guy is keeping country music alive. Granted, he's being turned into one of the new "rockstar" type country acts. But he writes his own material, and he worked damn hard to get where he is. He can write about more than a girl, a truck, a cold beer, and a river. Hell, the guys that sing those kind of songs didn't even write them.
couldn’t agree more with you
Nee johnny cash
He’s always been a rockstar type... from what I hear he played more rock covers than country as he was playing the bars and honkytonks as a younger musician. Never seen him live but I think this is still true at his concerts... tons of rock covers... but maybe this isn’t what you meant by “rock star type”.
He seems like a dude who would say "Call me Eric" and doesn't spend his money past very reasonable means.
It’s all about money now days
I was born 2.2.76 at 44 you are my other half. I love u very much your story is mine. I feel it. Lord I hope my girl forgives me. I tried to give her so much more than I had. I hope she understands one day. I did my best.

This is arguably one of the best country songs I have ever heard. I have a new found respect for Eric Church, I can't believe that I'm just now hearing this song. It's really well written and the production is outstanding!

gorgeous ....Thanks so much for a been fans. I so much appreciate you for liking my page. How long have you been a fan?
The only thing different I would have done on this video is to have the two ladies give a hug at the end..sort of a sign of loss and sorrow for both of them..with a little respect.
Nothingness my son he's jumping on life itself today.
EC... Biggest under rated country star... One of my favorites, never gets old!
John Bielarz yes I agree I love almost all of his songs.
I try to sing along with this song, but its so hard through all the tears. This song brings more emotions out of you than any other that I've ever heard.
This song still sends chills down my spine
Agreed
Just appreciate the song. No need for ignorant comments.
I heard this song for the first time yesterday as I was driving to Georgia from Florida on Pandora. I love Eric Church's talent and his meaningful songs. I have never heard a song to match this one. Incredible talent with his song and lyrics, but the whole meaning behind this song is absolutely moving. If it doesn't bring tears to your eyes, then you don't have any feelings. Eric Church is the man.
Very few songs get me misty. This is one.
Brought tears to my eyes and I'm more into Rock and Alternative Music usually. But sometimes a country song cuts to the heart of things better.

just did 10 in GA. Tears won,t let me say it, thanks for saying it for me. Al Standridge
This song and the way Eric sings it, blows me away everytime. I love this song.
if you didnt shed a tear at 4:01. you are not a real person and you need to take a look at your life, and the mistakes youve made and how short regrets can be.
I've seen ya live 4 times now and yet have I seen this song be played. Man it's like the last song on my list to see live. Add it to your next set list!
Oh my goodness. Never heard this before and just bawled like a baby!! What an incredible artist.
I have never come across a song that pulls emotion out of you faster than this one.
List in to lightning crashes by live. Diffrent genre but awesome song
Theres nothing like country music. True Americans with morals, values, and respect. This modern society needs some changing.
One of the greatest songs ever nobody knows about
The thing I love about Eric Church is that he doesn't sing all about relationships like most artists [not just Country]. Also, any song he sings, it has meaning and he really gets to you.
He is a story teller. That is a true artist. We love this guy
The "BEST" and most under-rated Eric Church song ever!!! This will "ALWAYS" be my favorite!!!
Before left & right or right &left. Can’t think you enough for your music. Thank ya Mr. Church.
I started laughing in disbelief when the band perry won over eric church at the acm's or whatever it was. Eric's talent has been so god damn raw and pure since the start, and these kids come along with a random song that has nothin to do with country (which plays on the radio and all little kids and girls like) and get way more votes than eric church, one of the few puttin out real songs these days. this internet generation is a joke
my FAVORITE line in this song is
"I'm gonna ride the lightning, to my final resting place"
what an amazing line in a song... and for those that don't think this is country... go get your ears checked!
never did never would pass judgement.
people life is too short to hold grudges or think you can look at someone's heart.
you can assume a post or even a song can be encompassing.
it cant.
Lightning happening right now ❤❤
Eric Church is by far one of the best singers I have ever heard. He doesn't have a forced image. He is who he has always been.
Best thing going on in country music for the past ten years....glad he hasn't given in to the man and still does his thing....awesome song writer
this is one of my favorite songs by Eric, this is country music.
Lot's of emotions and messages here...Guy was trying to provide for his family...sadly he made the wrong one... And now everyone pays not just him.
Eric Church will be the next great country artist. His music just needs a little more exposure which will happen over time. He is my favorite artist just ahead of Brad Paisley.
This video had me captivated. Did not think The video would go through until he was gone. There were only three people leaving. Only two of these whose life the death affected the most. Makes Ya think bout who really deserves what.
Awe inspiring and moving. Thank you Eric.
no matter the crime and the judgement many will suffer
Thank you lord for protecting me I'm home
Gives me chills to this day
From Bach to 2Pac.. And anything that sounds good in between. But country is where home is!
amen
Amen

Where are you supporting me from?
Let's just put it like this... I've just descovered this artist about a year and he is By-Far (WITHOUT A DOUBT) Hands-Down the BEST country ARTIST I've EVER descovered and ever will .
This song hits home. My stepfather served a prison sentence and was even incarcerated at the Tennessee State Prison, visible around the 2:20 mark. Now, he’s completely turned his life around and is a business owner. Very proud.
Without a doubt, my favorite song of Eric’s, however, I love every song he writes and sings. The man is a true genius. And I am a songwriter, under my maiden name.

people say his new song give me back my hometown is his darkest song yet i disagree this is his best and darkest song its a song of thing that truly happen
listen to Dark Side when its released. THATS his darkest song yet. His whole album is available on NPR for streaming actually. Go check it out.
Codey Winters or a man who was gonna die young...by far my favorite
@@Josh-ii1eq man that was gonna die young guts me and makes me smile cause my God is an awesome God and my church has Angelic provision and protection by the blood of the lamb it is our given authority and power and duty.
So, about 10 years ago I met a man at work. He grew up in my hometown, lived down the street from my patents. He was a hilarious, skeevy, kind hearted soul that became my friend quickly. He had many personal battles, but overcame them and was a pretty awesome dude.
He had a heart attack about 4 years ago, he was 45 years old.....died instantly. His mom still lives down the road from my parents.
Every time we did had drinks, he would play this song. It was his absolute favorite. He would always joke about how 'he would go out like lightning ' . Today it randomly played on UA-cam for me, and his memory hit me like a freight train.
Hope you're flying high Kenny.
Ray Fulcher ..singer/songwriter said he was impressed with Eric Church...first musical influence. Then we saw The Turnpike Troubadours :)
It sends chills down my body at 4:14 only good powerful songs can do that to me.
this song made me cry like a baby... :(
the wages of sin is death. it was a to high of a debt for us to pay. so through christ our debt were paid and we could start a new. the payment for being forgiven of all of our sins is to love everyone regardless. to have love like christ is impossible to have but but to try to love like christ is possible.
That's why he wrote it...this song got him his record deal
This song never gets old! I love it! Just like all the other Eric Church songs! ;)
Amazing song, if anybody noticed but if you stop it at 3:45 the 050377 is Eric Church's b-day... coincidence? Mmmmmmm smooth move Eric...
Craig D'Angelo oh shit! Good notice
Anyone notice after the execution how the audio doesn't sound "enhanced"? Raw emotion right there.
Yeah i'd like him to do another cd with this "sound" and "feel" but he already said he wants every album to have its own sound. Sinners like me definitely has a special place in my heart.
What a powerful song should be played in congress every day .
Yes yes yes
This fella is real country.keep it real Eric.
Lord Have Mercy. I've come upon a Song That gave me Goosie Bumps from my Head to Toe!
he did great with this song...it really shatters the glass from what you think happens and then what the actuality of it...theres always two parts to every story and if i was ever put in that mans shoes I'd beg the lord for forgiveness and hope that he could forgive me for what I've done....

The most UNDER RATED country artist ever!! I
This song always hits me. It’s October 31st I am 16 I am in my junior year. I love playing golf I hang with my dad more than anyone, have had 2 girls friends. One broke up with me the other I broke up with. Me and my dad do everything together. I lost a lot of friends because the 1st girl made me drop a lot of my friends so yeah. My first Halloween alone.. Just staying home..
What happened to country music? What a powerful song. I miss good music
Anna the music is still great. Maybe you just need to open your mind some more.
Jessica Stevener Songs like these tell far better stories then what they spin on the radio.
why this aint played more is beyond me
or songs like hungover and hardup smh its a shame this gets hidden but the trash is at the top of billboards
+D Kirk because radie stations are run by idiots..
muumuu have ol@udksjhs ty nbnooooikqbxBxbhhxdIaSAn km l Km MLB no OK s
Because its good music. it makes you feel something that's not radio.
I wondered the same thing. I did some research on the song, and discovered that Eric and the producers did not want a bunch of airplay. He felt that the message in the song was so strong that he didn't want it diminished by repeated airplay, which is why they only released the video - to increase the impact of the song. I'd say he delivered. I get chills every time I watch this video.
What can I say , Eric from the time I first heard your voice and was able to be at the stage coach concert I knew you would be a legend. . My daughter and I would not have missed it for the world.
don't get any better than this song
This sure reminds me of some old Bruce Springsteen.. some johnny 99 or half the songs on the Nebraska album. Love Mr. Church.Today's mix of Johnny, Waylon, Merle and Hank!!
This song is deep.
This song is so sad, I wanna cry.
Wow. If this wasn't such a touchy subject I bet this song would've been a huge hit.
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

I love listening to this song over and over ... paints a awesome picture...so sad that these things go on every day ... We shoot people for nothing... Sorry for victims and their attackers... only God will decide people’s fate
When a singer/songwriter does a song that can give you chills, that is when they have hit greatness
