I Re-painted My Daughters Bike | Rust oleum Chameleon Spray Paint

- In this video we paint my older daughter's bike with a 2 tone Rustoleum Galaxy Blue color. Bella was not too fond of the original grey and black so we splurged and went with the expensive 2 tone paint scheme.
We could have spent more time sanding it and getting it ready to be perfect but this was a fun little project we both were able to enjoy.

She loves it and we had a great experience painting her bike and now she is more motivated to ride so it is a win/win.
Her bike is an older Giant Revel XXS size with 26 inch wheels.

that came out killer!!!!!! I really like that sparkle touch! Great job and I bet she was super jazzed!
Any is interested in that paint color walmart has it for 8 bucks a can while other places like Autozone has it for 20 bucks and more. Same color.
Thank you for this video. I'm going to be spray painting my metal bed like this.
Nice. I just painted a '96 GT Robinson this color. FYI, I found the same paint at Ace for $13 so the price has come down a bit. Also, I clear-coated it and it's really beautiful. It makes we want to paint everything that color.
ahhhhh yeah! your daughter has a sick bike! great work Dad!
Oh yeah! Thanks!
Nice job. I hope your daughter likes it.
Rick she loves it man! Tonight when we were riding back from the grandparents she asked if I would flash it with a light so she could see the sparkle.
You're a great dad good job buddy 👍
Thanks Lamar, it ain't easy but it's fun :)
Wicked paint job. Do like that. Thinking about it for my bike. Keep up the good work
Thanks James! I have a project bike I am about to do some videos on and debating on what color to do it in. Thought about this one or maybe have some of this paint on the bike along with other colors. We will see.
Wow, thanks for this! I never knew thats how chameleon paintjob is made
You bet! Thanks for watching.
Very nice looking bike...😄
Thank! I appreciate it. It was a fun little project.
Nice
love those colours and types of paints you used, i need to track some down.
I got mine from Auto zone but not sure where you are located.
NICE WORK BROOO
Thanks 🔥
Giving Oldshovel a run for his money, eh? Looking good!
Haha, far from it but figured it would be fun. I did do a little painting on my Titanium gravel bike that I will do some videos on in the future but it is far from professional.
Looks easy. You didn’t have to stand it, take off the old paint, or take off the stickers? A lot of the custom paint jobs I’ve seen people have sanded them or primed them before hand.
Yes if you wanted a legit professional job, you would sand it and prime it and get it all perfect for the new paint. This bike already had some flat paint on it and was pretty basic and uniform in color so it didn't require much. As far as the decals, it will only have one that pushed up a little and that was the GIANT on the down tube. We just painted over it and we may put another decal over it in the future but it actually looks kinda cool having a raise GIANT but very subtle of which brand it is.
How many coats of the paint shift did you apply on it?
Looks similar to the paint job Mannon did on GCN. Well done! How did the breakdown, build-up go. I’d be interested to know how you pulled the head tube and BB. thx for a great vid.
Thanks Tim! Yeah I actually saw that video before and enjoyed it. We looked at several UA-cam videos of guys painting cars with different colors before settling with the Galaxy Blue. Yeah I probably should have shown a little footage of myself taking those parts out but I didn't want the video to be too long. Its pretty basic but good info for everyone.
No sending prior to primer? How is the paint so far
How is the paint holding up to this day? Any peeling, deep scratches?
It has held up pretty good. My daughter spun her bars around and hit it with the shifter and it took off some of the paint but nothing crazy. Similar to what has happened to several factory painted alloy bikes I have had in the past.
Let me put on a helmet but no shoes
No sanding, no prep, interesting
For this project I wasn't worried about it being perfect. If you have the time and want it to last then you will want to go through the whole process. Aluminum is tricky to paint raw due to the oxidation that takes place right after it is exposed to oxygen so I decided just to paint on top of the original paint and it has actually held up better than expected.
