Damn, as someone who deals with trauma themselves, this hits me hard. Astarion’s whole character arc hits hard, actually. I did an Astarion origin play through recently and there’s still a scene of him having night terrors. The depiction of trauma actually makes me feel seen and validated. The writers and Neil did a spectacular job.
Poor Astarion...i think these nightmares should still be canon. Also sorry about your luck Astarion, but knowing what you went through is going to make me want to be there when you wake up EVEN MORE! You deserve to have someone to comfort you!
they still are, if you play astarion’s origin there are multiple scenes and mentions of astarion never being able to “rest” well bc he’s terrorized nightly by memories of cazador’s abuse when trancing
@@myheartismadeofstars it’s made worse when you consider the fact that elves should have perfect recall of their entire lives, so cazador’s abuse was so all consuming and traumatizing that the only thing astarion knows and remembers is his life after becoming a vampire spawn 🥲 let my man rest in peace!!!
@@darkalleyvampire can we please get our boy some therapy?? I wonder if hypnotherapy would work on him? To allow him access to the memories that Cazador's abuse have covered. Sure he won't have as many memories of happiness as he does of abuse, but it might give him some nights of reprieve
This adds so much depth! I wish they’d kept it in. I also had recurring nightmares and night terrors from trauma so it’s interesting seeing that in a character. Also I like how sharp his teeth used to be, it really sells the whole “I’m a scary monster and I can hurt you but still babygirl” vibe
You know…. I never had the chance to play the Beta version and it hurts I didn’t…. My computer was broken for sooo long… still not working properly. I see the changes done to him here! His teeth and his mouth is different!! Everything else is the same. I would have loved to see EVERYTHING that i missed from Beta of him if I could. Thank you for posting this. ❤
I guess probably for the scars to be a suprise and a major plot point in act 2. Though I wish they kept it and either moved to act 2, or just made it about some other thing Cazador did.
@s1b3r11 I like moving it to later on too. Or hell, if your romancing him have it happen like... 2 sleeps after the party or something. And then maybe slightly change the dialog due to it being romanced Asta. I dunno. I keep seeing a lot of things from early access (before I even knew what this game was back then) that now that I've played it/keep playing it I'm like "wait... why on earth did you take THAT out???" Lol

Тогда он и говорит "Я самый могущественный вампир в королевствах" и "В королевствах нет вампира подомного мне" (У меня на канале последний шортс с этим моментом)
Чем больше вижу вырезанные сцены с Астом из раннего доступа, тем больше грущу. Меня и так в хлам его сюжетная ветка превращает, а тут ещё больше интересных сцен, в которых характер Астариона, имхо, представлен ещё интереснее, чем мы имеем. Просто верю, и жду какого-нибудь "режиссерского" издания Балды, а которое впихнут все, что можно и нельзя, да...
