Then relief when you explain why you want to break up with him, followed by a combination of empathy, fiery determination & fierce protectiveness. Damn, the grafics for these characters are incredibly detailed. I'm very impressed.
I had the worst time fighting Orin as a sorcerer Durge... until I checked my scroll pack and went "Oh... I'm so dumb 😂" The scroll of Hold Monster saved my life.

I love how expressive the characters are in Baldur's Gate, I can't help but notice the lipsync sometimes is stiff or even fails and I wish they'd fix that because it would add up so much to the expressiveness!

While every cast member is incredibly talented in BG3, not every member is Neil Newbon with how astronomically invested he became in his character and the whole project.
It is because of the writing process. The same writer was writing the dialogue for both Astarion and Durge at the same time so she had Durge in mind when writing for Astarion, more so than other writers who where in charge of other origin characters.
I found it interesting that just like real people, I can't look at him in the eyes. It's the same incomfort-surcharge feeling. That says something about how lively he seems.
Wait no I just realised me neither! My autism kicks in and I end up staring at his (admittedly perfect) nose! I don't think this has happened before with a video game. Kudos to everyone involved I guess, from the voice actor to the animators.
After seekng the clips of Ascended Astarion being able to see his reflection I'm more mad that he doesn't have a dialogue to see himself with the tadpole connection or a painting or sculpture or hells, even the spell mirror image. Or disguise. I know we don't have specific options like that bjt the fact that Gale makes a full mirror duplicate of himself at the beginning of the game "indulging in a spot of vanity" while later we have to see Sadstarion with the mirror scene "petty vanity, of course I miss it."
yk the Oskar Fevras quest, for Act 3, if you save him in Act 2, he offers you a painting as a reward. mine happened to be portrait of Astarion and I'm also upset you can't show him the painting
@RedFoxy248 right? So also, in my first run, my Tav romanced Star and when my Tav agreed for the painting it was Star (lol) and and I reloaded and had Star talk to him to do it and it was the same. (I can't remember which one I did first) but on one of them Star is just like "ok we have tbis painting of someone now" and my Tav made a comment about how they thought the person in the painting was rather good looking. I don't remember the exact line but that is some kind of acknowledgment I have noticed. And I thought it was so cute. My Tav basically saying the man in the portrait is hot while Star doesn't even realize it is him.

Ppl who think all the companions are black and white pigeonholed "evil, good, etc" haven't BEGUN to dig into the immensely different ways your own example, respect if others right to make good AND bad choices by themselves but also to, right to have their privacy respected and not be pestered for every detail about themselves before they even KNOW you affects how differently the companions potentially develop. You can wind up with the most evil, abusive, villainous Astarion imaginable. You can also wind up with an Astarion who learns sacrifice, selflessness, and heroism. You get out of them what you reflect, and they'll tend to start to reflect your own attitudes about them.
I never selected this option. So this was morbid curiosity. Not like his face when he says "Oh shit" hit me in the heart. Not like im here sobbing and whispering, "My baaabby, I'll never leave you. I'm so sorry 😭 😭" Nope. That definitely didn't happen. I'm fine. This is fine. I'm fine.

Ppl who think all the companions are black and white pigeonholed "evil, good, etc" haven't BEGUN to dig into the immensely different ways your own example, respect if others right to make good AND bad choices by themselves but also to, right to have their privacy respected and not be pestered for every detail about themselves before they even KNOW you affects how differently the companions potentially develop. You can wind up with the most evil, abusive, villainous Astarion imaginable. You can also wind up with an Astarion who learns sacrifice, selflessness, and heroism. You get out of them what you reflect, and they'll tend to start to reflect your own attitudes about them.
