how to replaced crankcase vent valve on BMW X5

I’m showing how to change the crankcase vent valve on 2005 BMW X5 4.4L.
my vehicle would have a rough idle at cold start the rpm would fluctuate. so i suspected the cvv and i popped open the cover and took a look and find out that the diaphragm was broken so i order one to replaced. so if u have a x5 that has a rough idle at cold start check ur ccv it possible that the diaphragm its broken and needs to be replaced. have fun .

2011 x5 n63 5.0 engine iş same crank case valve? And if it’s broken is make smoke from the exhaust?

I don't know if it's same but it can smoke if diaphragm is broken.

I’m having a hard time purchasing the cap with the male end. There’s a tube that has to connect to it. That tube plays a very important role in pressure regulation. It’s there to connect to the cap.

Is your vehicle X5 2005. Cause on some vehicle you have to change the whole valve cover. Plus the cap I'm using it's a female end.

Praudas glad it helped, personally I haven’t heard it whistle but it’s possible for t to whistle I guess.

@@mraatmm I have 3.0i engine, I have changed whole valve cover with gaskets and problem gone.

Praudas on some other models like inline 6 to change the ccv u need to change the whole valve cover. The ccv it’s built inside it. Don’t no the year or model but it’s a inline 6. It’s a hard n expensive repair. But on my x5 it’s easy To change n cheap.

@@mraatmm yes correct but still dont have to change the whole valve cover. You can cut the top off ccv valve cap and use silicone to secure new valve cap.

@@Praudas yes but you could of just changed CC valve for less than $20 buy cutting cover off and replacing with new one instead of whole valve cover.
