I personally think one of the best quality of an actor can be that you can blindly go in to watch his films, not even see the trailer and come out satisfied to death. No matter what the film is, he always brings a stand out performance. His film choices are excellent. According to me, Ryan Gosling is one of the finest actors working today along with Jake Gyllenhaal. I just wish they both really get more recognition for how great they are.
Both of those actors are incredible. Gosling in Drive and Blade Runner, and Gyllenhaal in Prisoners and Nightcrawler are just so... wow... I remember finishing those movies speechless
Why we love him? because he is INCREDIBLE. Not only a great actor, but a great human being with so much charm, humour and humility. He has the cleanest reputation as a family man, never exploited his heartthrob status or cheated on his GFs, every costar has the nicest things to say about him. Rare combination of qualities in a person.
@@domjal it’s really not, I think you should rewatch it with a different mindset. Even if you don’t like it as much as others do it’s still a pretty solid movie
Gosling is always great. The movies he pick are also always worth a watch. Drive, The Place Beyond the Pines, and La La Land are some of my all time favorites.
He must have noticed how other actors get typecast into romcoms after early success in that genre and instantly decided to subvert that in every other movie role he takes.
Notably, even in films like Drive, he is still in love with this girl (who he doesn’t even know for that long) and goes to extreme lengths to protect her. I think his persisting heartthrob image (apart from his looks and puppy-dog eyes) comes from not just the typical romance story The Notebook, but the general tendency of him to play roles that don’t betray too far from this “caring and faithful boyfriend” image, regardless of the actual personality of his characters (funny or cool or “bad boy” or silent/tough) and the plot endings. La La Land doesn’t have a happy ending but c’mon, his character is a hopeless romantic and a complete heartthrob.
You're absolutely right, he has stuck to the "caring and faithful boyfriend" image as a subplot in almost all of his movies including Blue Valentine, Lars and the Real Girl, even 2049 where he was in love with the holographic image/robot, even in Crazy Stupid Love once he fell for Emma Stone
I thought that The Gray Man was interesting because he set himself up as a guardian figure for "the girl", rather than a romantic one. Of course there is a very different tone for the movies where a woman is absent, for example First Man and The Nice Guys, but I thought it was interesting to point out. Astute observation my dude!
I don't really think most people see him as the guy from The notebook anymore tbh, I think he is one of the biggest Hollywood stars we got right now. But he totally deservers it, I agree that the three movies you showed are on of his best. Good video keep going!
One of the reasons I respect him as an actor is in how he has a style that seems to almost work its way into every movie he’s in, yet he somehow can make it work with each character he plays to the point that they show very differing personalities inside.
Don't forget First Man, Lars, Gangsta Squad, Remember the Titans, Only God Forgives and Entourage! (even though he had a very short cameo in that one!)
" hey you wanna see something? " My favorite scene and one day hope to have a scene like that in real life with the love of my life and my lil darlins who will see mommie and daddy in a day in life everyday, of love, humor, passion, cheer Also love to quote Daft Punk " and we'll never be alone again.. "
I like most of his movies .. and the fact you mentioned about how they blurred his face is actually interesting, it's like they're telling us there's more of Ryan than just his looks.
He does it all without saying anything. He says he likes it when it is left up to the viewer what the character is thinking. He has minor bedroom scenes in a lot of his movies that are not romantic, but it isn't needed to put the point across. I love the bedroom scene in "Crazy, Stupid Love" and it is obvious in "La La Land that Sebastian and Mia love each other, but no big physical love scenes. There are bedroom scenes in "Gangster Squad", "The Ides of March" and "Fracture".
The thing that seemingly no one realises about what makes him great, which is something that wasn't mentioned in this video either, is that he has perfect timing. Gosling nails the timing with everything he does. Which is also why is can pull off comedy to such a high degree.
I love how he can take on so many characters. Idk his name in blade runner but hes more aggressive yet he remains calm and collected. But in Drive, he takes on a gentle giant kind of character who can snap at any moment. He'll go from stoically standing with a gentle smile (any time he's with his neighbor or her son) to a cold and calculating survivor(motel shootout), to an unhinged killer(elevator fight).
Hardtechnoboy I think you’re just someone who wants to hate because everyone else likes this guy. He rarely makes a bad movie and he is 100% a great actor.
Finally somebody who agrees with me. He's got a real talent and a diverse reperatoire of films roles he's done, so it's hard too say he's just "a pretty face."
He is one of the greatest actors on this earth and perfect casting for Blade Runner 2049. He can say without even saying a thing just through his eyes.
Ryan gosling is like the 1 heart throb who has some serious acting talent. He was a complex badass in blade runner and drive,he was ridiculously intimidating in only god forgives, incredibly charming in Lala land and I can’t wait to see place beyond the pines.
He's an example of someone who picks his roles so well. He is in so many of my favourite films it's crazy. It's like he chooses films for my taste. Basically I love Ryan Gosling.
Blue Valentine is one of those movies that's perfect to watch about a month or two after a break up. I still watch it every now and then, and I honestly think that was his best performance in any film. Drive and The Place Beyond The Pines were excellent movies, and he was great in Bladerunner 2. But Blue Valentine just feels so real when watching it. 10/10 movie.
He’s fucking awesome. He went from being known for his romantic lead roles, to a silent badass to an absolutely hilarious comic actor, back to a silent (ish) badass. This guy is one of my favourite actors because of how good he is in everything and how much range he has. The Nice Guys is my favourite performance of his ever, but a close second is K in Bladerunner 2049. SPOILER ALERT He made me care so much about the replicant that doesn’t matter. The replicant that’s just another creature. A replicant that turns out to not be special, yet I cared about K so much. He was the perfect choice for that film
He’s definitely my favorite actor because of his subtlety but one of my favorite things about him is you never hear about him. I don’t think he’s on social media, he’s never in the news unless it’s for a movie, he doesn’t give political speeches or tell anyone who to vote for. He’s just a normal guy with a cool job who minds his own business. Also he would make the perfect Bruce Wayne/Batman
