@@GoTeamScotch the water already looks pretty good imo
It might just be nit picking, but the lack of interaction when the plane is skimming through the water bothered me
Am I the only one that’d like to see emergency procedures with a rating system?
I.e. a total gear failure resulting in a belly landing. Rather than just crashing, it rates your speed, force and control.
Might just be me, but I would really like to see it implemented!
You're not the only one....
SA Tauranga Perry l pretty good idea
As far as I understand, even previous versions of FS have had emergency simulations in the stock game. They just don't let you water land unless the aircraft is capable of it, or track your performance in any way. I doubt there would be an objective way to assess your performance in any way unless...the criteria is 'bad landing', 'good landing,' and 'great landing.' As they say, any landing you can walk away from...
I would totally love that.
What does a speed, force, or control rating mean? You would know what speed you should fly, the force you should use is enough to flare for a safe landing, and control would be maintaining runway centerline. There's not much else to say.

Don’t laugh, but as rudimentary as the Google Earth Simulator is, that’s what first made me want a real flight simulator in 2009. So it was a good catalyst & inspiration to get me started.
I got a relatively late start in flight sim, both in terms of my actual age, and how far FS’s had already come. Yet it’s hard to believe that 2009 is already 11 years ago now.

I noticed engine stress as a damage option, does this just cause engine failure, fire, etc or will it also cause an instant 'game over'. I'd really at least like to see engine and icing issues modeled since they are important things to learn how to recover from (or at least try to).
Ideally, we'd see at least some effort put into overstress modeling too, they already model aerodynamics so tying that into damage to the wings and control surfaces shouldn't be that hard. Even if my plane is being ripped to pieces all around me I'd like to be able to ride it into the ground rather than just get a black screen instantly. That said I can understand if they never bother with crash damage (though landing gear damage should be modeled and belly landings should be possible) because matching the realism of the rest of the game with realistic impact damage models would be a lot of work and without a doubt will lead to controversy when people start plowing into buildings and such.
Another good point, Mattumbo. Another good point
The description at 10:40 seems to suggest that overstressing the engine also causes a black-screen game over.

So I'm happy you showed off Courcheval airport, because that's one thing that was "included", but pretty much unplayable in earlier versions of MSFS, and it seemed as though all runways were perfectly flat and level, all over the world, so it'll be fun to be able to use sloped runways, and it'll be interesting to see how well they've modeled smaller local airfields that local pilots are intimately familiar with, but which the global aviation community has generally never heard of. :) (KAFN in NH is also sloped, but not to the same extreme as Courcheval, and although the runway is legally 148 ft wide, only the center 50 ft is actually paved. Both of these quirks have been completely absent from earlier versions of MSFS, and it makes the airfield look downright weird in-game).
Developers: We are improving graphics.
Me: I want physics! (crashing physics actually)
delta iii Are you implying that implementing crash physics of all things is gonna be the one thing that brings this 1:1 scale model aerodynamic simulator’s performance to the ground? It’s also not like a one-time event like a crash is gonna constantly affect performance, only the short second of time when they’re occurring.
maybe companies dont give permission for detailed crashes
@@EappleSandbox Deformation physics are dependant of the model complexity, in other words, planes have to be modeled and designed with deformation in mind as a mecanic not as a byproduct of mere CPU calculations. Beam NG is a good example of this as every car model is comprised of individual parts (assets) with their own proprieties interacting with the physics engine as individual parts arranged together to make a whole car you drive.

Every IRL pilot dies a little bit inside every time you say 'miles per hour' in lieu of knots
"The knot is a unit of speed equal to one nautical mile per hour"
@@demetriakrelian427 Not sure your point? One nautical mile is not one mile, as is commonly referenced. 1 nautical mile is 1.15 miles.
@@demetriakrelian427 That does nothing to support him saying miles per hour. If you're talking aviation, you're supposed to say knots, knots indicated airspeed, or machs depending on the context. From my experience I can't think of a reason someone would even say 'nautical miles per hour' other than to define what a knot is.
I'm wondering if this is going to have randomized instrument and system failures and how those would interact with this type of damage handling..
Say if I overspeed my flaps and damage them, would that end my flight? What about the gears? How about attempting a belly landing to save the day?
Generally speaking, some of my most memorable sim experiences were when random failures kicked in and I managed to recover the situation, or when I messed up something and still managed to recover the situation. I hope this kind of "damage handling" does not stifle that possibility entirely.
I just finished watching gameplay of ver 4.0, now I’m in absolute awe of the progression of this sim. Incredible work.

The damage system is a big bummer.

As a serious simulator though it's probably unnecessary to model damage beyond the point where the plane is going to be unflyable and/or everyone in it dead. I mean they could work on a true damage model but it would be a hell of a lot of work for something that you only get to see once you've already 'lost' the game.
@@mcallisterwill very true

@@brunovaz would be really cool if they did at some point down the line. Modelling the aerodynamics of a wing with a few dents in it or a bent aileron would be quite complicated I think.
FSX would at least let you do a belly landing. It looks like MSFS may just give a black screen and a message saying you crashed. I also like that FS2000 through FSX (and perhaps some of the earlier versions) would show a spot view of your crashed plane. It really gave the impression of having royally messed up and destroyed your aircraft. MSFS feels more like a black screen computer error.
Keep the vids coming bud, your doing a great service to the sim community.
its nice hearing a relaxing talking about something he seems to know alot about and not trying to dumb down his explanations
To be honest, i'm happy with the way it currently handles the damage. As the proves that it recognises the events that would cause a crash or air-frame damage. So i guess all asobo have to do is add some effects like the plane breaking when those events are triggerd.
For what I’ve seen out of sims like BeamNG, we should have destructible models that react accordingly.
My potato PC can run BeamNG and do fine with the damage
Why. If you did this in real life you wouldn't even have the courtesy of a "you died" screen, let alone watching your crash.
Person Oisels It’s a game
@@julianalvarez9839 It's also a sim. BeamNG is a crash simulator, FS is a flight simulator, they're doing two different things and frankly "crashed" is and always has been adequate. It would be NICE if they added some sort of crash animation but 1. Doing it realistically is never going to happen (with current technology), soft body physics is a genre all of it's own (see beamNG) and plane crashes are all sorts of explodey as well and 2. it's certainly not a requirement or a "should have".
It's a driving simulator that also simulates car physics as much as it can... including how each individual part of a car would react when involved in crash. Not exactly a crash simulator... even if people know it for that.
Other than that, I absolutely agree there's a noticeable difference between a game(say Wreckfest, a game where it actually is all about crashing and wrecking cars) and a simulator, which tries to simulate real life activities such as flying a plane, drive a car, a train, a truck or whatever...
I guess people asking for this type of stuff... it just goes to show they actually don't care about the simulator itself.
After all... getting a black screen after a crash is the most realistic thing ever... unless you're religious of course, in that case you may wanna ask Microsoft to put on a hell/heaven like post crash screen to suit your beliefs better...

A shit here we go again
I really hope that they add crash things, it’s like 60% of what I would do in it
same
Will there be engine failures like engine fires , oil leaks, fuel leaks, electrical failures, etc?
Your voice is amazing puts me right to sleep very soft spoken
your voice is good, i mean.. its very fitting for narrating something
7:12 if you cant see you plane crash/explode or have bits fall off or even see damage to your aircraft that is a major disappointment. yes its not a combat sim, but if im decided to fly low and my wing hit a tree or building i want to physics of the crash
You would think crashes would be part of the simulation
You cannot make a crash landing, such as landing gear failure etc.. There wont be any crash also there wont be any replay features. They said airbus and boeing do not want their planes to be crashed, this has been discussed a lot in the past 6 months in closed beta tests and it is 100% sure that there wont be any crash in this game. You go to main menu if you crash the plane which sucks.
@@RedShark493 then If flying a boeing/airbus you get the black screen other planes bits fall off, everyone happy :)
