Am I the only one that’d like to see emergency procedures with a rating system?
I.e. a total gear failure resulting in a belly landing. Rather than just crashing, it rates your speed, force and control.

As far as I understand, even previous versions of FS have had emergency simulations in the stock game. They just don't let you water land unless the aircraft is capable of it, or track your performance in any way. I doubt there would be an objective way to assess your performance in any way unless...the criteria is 'bad landing', 'good landing,' and 'great landing.' As they say, any landing you can walk away from...

What does a speed, force, or control rating mean? You would know what speed you should fly, the force you should use is enough to flare for a safe landing, and control would be maintaining runway centerline. There's not much else to say.

I noticed engine stress as a damage option, does this just cause engine failure, fire, etc or will it also cause an instant 'game over'. I'd really at least like to see engine and icing issues modeled since they are important things to learn how to recover from (or at least try to).
Ideally, we'd see at least some effort put into overstress modeling too, they already model aerodynamics so tying that into damage to the wings and control surfaces shouldn't be that hard. Even if my plane is being ripped to pieces all around me I'd like to be able to ride it into the ground rather than just get a black screen instantly. That said I can understand if they never bother with crash damage (though landing gear damage should be modeled and belly landings should be possible) because matching the realism of the rest of the game with realistic impact damage models would be a lot of work and without a doubt will lead to controversy when people start plowing into buildings and such.

Both of these quirks have been completely absent from earlier versions of MSFS, and it makes the airfield look downright weird in-game).

Generally speaking, some of my most memorable sim experiences were when random failures kicked in and I managed to recover the situation, or when I messed up something and still managed to recover the situation. I hope this kind of "damage handling" does not stifle that possibility entirely.

It's a driving simulator that also simulates car physics as much as it can... including how each individual part of a car would react when involved in crash. Not exactly a crash simulator... even if people know it for that.
Other than that, I absolutely agree there's a noticeable difference between a game(say Wreckfest, a game where it actually is all about crashing and wrecking cars) and a simulator, which tries to simulate real life activities such as flying a plane, drive a car, a train, a truck or whatever...
I guess people asking for this type of stuff... it just goes to show they actually don't care about the simulator itself.

It is, but since everyone in the world became over sensitive about anything, they probably didn‘t want to give people incentives to crashing planes by adding awesome crash physics and explosions. Idk. probably a rational decision, since it is an simulatio after all and the focus is on flying but sure, I think it‘s pretty cheap too.

@Ambrose Delgado Makes sense, somewhat, but we were there over a decade ago with Gran Turismo, which is pretty much a racing simulator and the car models did not take any damage, because of your stated reasons. Nowadays, we have luckily moved on and even licensed cars have realistic crash models and physics.

@@lasuzzoeagle1 I sometimes play IL-2. They have a great damage and crash model. I dive too fast, turn my head left and notice my flaps are gone. Oh oh. Or sometimes my wing gets ripped off. Or plane is on fire, time to bail out.
But they've done so much right with this sim, I'll give them a pass on the damage and crash.

Crashes have never been modeled really. Long ago they made the game freeze and display cracks all over like a broken windscreen, but that's about it.

    That drone camera is AWESOME!
Also, when it finally gets fully released, I'd love to see some DLC that would put Meigs Field back where it belongs.

7:12 if you cant see you plane crash/explode or have bits fall off or even see damage to your aircraft that is a major disappointment. yes its not a combat sim, but if im decided to fly low and my wing hit a tree or building i want to physics of the crash

You cannot make a crash landing, such as landing gear failure etc.. There wont be any crash also there wont be any replay features. They said airbus and boeing do not want their planes to be crashed, this has been discussed a lot in the past 6 months in closed beta tests and it is 100% sure that there wont be any crash in this game. You go to main menu if you crash the plane which sucks.

@@RedShark493 then If flying a boeing/airbus you get the black screen other planes bits fall off, everyone happy :)
