I took 1/4 inch wire cloth and stapled to supports under the decking, which was 22 inch from top to below grade then curved 14 inches outward. This is all one piece which was 36 inch wide. Only needed to fold not cut the wire.. Then I hung the landscape fabric over the wire; then I cut white plastic lattice to over the landscape covered wire. I folded the 45 degree corner under the deck to meet the foundation. The left over wire neatly travels up the foundation wall. I’ll nail a concrete plastic button to hold wire. It’s the kind to hang insulation blankets in the basement. I cut the lattice shorter than 22 inch so it’ll move when the ground freezes. I figured the wire will bend on its own when the earth freezes and thaws. I cut end pieces for both ended. I placed a small piece of solid white plastic to cover the side of the stairs and meet the vertical end piece to match the white lattice.
Hello Jeff, good work, it looks great! Does it stop the animals(like rats) from going underneath the deck? Can it be buried in the ground or gravel in case the rats try to tunnel in? Thank you.
I didn't design my deck skirt to keep out animals, so I can't comment on how effective it was at that. However, I don't think it would be effective as I would think something like a rat or racoon could get right through the fabric.
Thanks. So far so good. No tears. I sags slightly but only if you look close. Planning on putting in the plant beds and shrubbery so any "blemishes " will be hidden. Way cheaper than any other option I found.
It's a type of plastic mesh. Easy to cut and install. It's from a Canadian company called Design Equations. You can order it online. I'm about to put out a 4 year review of the product and show how well it's worn over 4 years in Eastern US conditions (Maryland). (spoiler alert - it's looks great!!!). Somehow it doesn't fade in the sun and heat so I'd imagine it would be fantastic in Florida.

UPDATE: Over two years later the DeckALL skirting is looking good.
What is the material you used. I don't see that in the descritption? Thanks
Corey Schaefgen it's called DeckALL skirting from Design Equations in Canada.

looks great! So how has it been holding up? Any tears or regrets? Im thinking about doing the same thing.

Yes that's what I was thinking I was only worried about the longevity of it but as yours is holding up I don't think that will be a problem.
Any problems with the framing not being pressure treated? It looks great though!!
Reggie B the framing was in fact pressure treated lumber. So far no issues. With black it can be a little hard to keep clean.
Now I know....great job
Holy smokes who murdered the acoustic guitar in this video?
Is it you? Not sure. Can’t remember who I added.
