If you’re bruising you’re applying way to much force. There should be redness that comes from increased blood flow but that should go away within minutes. Never perpendicular to the skin and ALWAYS use on oiled skin. Never on dry. There should be no tension. It should glide on the skin with little pressure.
There’s NEVER bruising in the face! Your supposed to use medium to light pressure the only thing is your face will be red for about ten minutes that’s it though

It’s been a miracle for my TMJ and jaw clenching. I do 50% of the scraping on my neck particularly the sides and it’s made a complete difference when nothing else has
If you have bruising you are going too hard. That level of pressure is usually reserved for moving cold out the body and breaking up stagnation in the limbs. Always apply proper moisture to reduce harm to skin but if you have severe acne it’s best to heal that first.
It works if you know what you’re doing. The problem is most people don’t know what they’re doing 😅. A trained practitioner is best! If you want to try it at home, go GENTLE.

I can tell from my personal experience that gua sha is not for everyone. I am very thin although I don't show that much, but my scale tells so, and gua sha made my face look thinner accentuating my nasolabial folds. Perhaps also breaking down some soft tissue in the cheeks? Not sure. But I do not recommend it for body types like mine. I stopped using gua sha when I noticed the difference but I don't know if the damage is permanent or not.
Gua Sha has made more of a difference in my face than any other device that I have. I know it is not a 'device' but it does the same heavy lifting. I do it morning and night with aloe and glycerine as a slip in the am and rosehip as a slip at night.
You’re not supposed to “scrape” the face. It’s a light pulling as the gua sha tool is nearly flat to the face and gently dragged along the surface of the skin.. it’s never supposed to bruise.
