My Top 5 Worst Andrew Brenner Episodes

- It's finally here! I've gotten plenty of requests for this including Lenny Marroquin, who is one of my fans. Sorry that this was long overdue. I'm just slow at making a brand-new script, and I get writer's block easily. Anyways, here are my picks for the worst episodes in the Andrew Brenner era!
I will do a BEST Andrew Brenner episodes video, but I don't know when I'll get that done to be honest. I haven't written a script for it yet. But I'll try to get it done sometime this month or so. It may or may not be my next video.

How to fix shed for edward
-replace Phillip with BoCo
-the reason why edward leave because wellsworth is start of his branchline, also he fell comfortable with BoCo
-fix the ending
I don’t mind them changing the topic at the end as it showed how mature they are. If it ended with them mourning, it would feel forced.
A shed for Edward was a missed opportunity to bring BoCo back. I hated it whenever Edward left Tidmouth sheds, because I was hoping they could just add a couple more berths for Nia and Rebecca. (AKA annoying orange and big banana) I mean, they did it before for Emily in calling all engines.
boco was actually meant to return in season 22 if I’m correct.
Im perfectly fine Thomas and the Babysitter because I love how that episode takes place on nearly the entirety of Thomas's Branche Line
I knew the episode “A Shed For Edward” is gonna appear in this list. I don’t like the fact that Edward left Tidmouth Sheds to sleep with Phillip. I wouldn’t want to sleep next to someone if they constantly talked over and over again. I also remember that ending part where it foreshadowed BWBA which is bad enough. Overall, solid list.
Indeed. I have to agree with the Unlucky Tug: it felt like an intentional jab at the audience.
Yes. A Shed For Edward. Edward gets to sleep in Wellsworth Sheds with Philip and it's right at the start of his branchline. Then, Nia takes his place at Tidmouth Sheds. When I watch Forever and Ever, it's announced that Henry sleeps in Vicarstown with Rosie because Henry's about to pull the Flying Kipper at the whole night. Rebecca then takes his place at Tidmouth Sheds.
I'm sorry, what does the flying keeper have to do with Vicarstown, it starts at Brendam which a lot closer to Tidmouth?
@@drawingpower1, the Flying Kipper was delivered to Brendam Docks and Henry gets there and pulls it overnight. He has to deliver it to the mainland. After delivering it there, he needs to sleep in Vicarstown because it's on the eastern part of Sodor while Tidmouth is on the west and Tidmouth and Vicarstown takes miles.
@@CrystalClearWith8BE The flying keeper delivery starts in the morning though. They mention in the flying keeper story when the driver tells Henry that they will have to leave early Tomorrow. Henry goes to bed early to wake up early for the delivery
Interesting list. And I agree with you on “A Shed For Edward”. Plus in that episode, Edward was kinda not wise enough as he should. Also Philip sleeping in wellsworth sheds would’ve made a lot more sense if he was the wellsworth shunter. Or better yet have BoCo sleep in wellsworth sheds, as he does work on Edward’s Branchline!
Also Edward deserves a proper send off!
@@engineboy53productions15, yeah that probably should have worked.
If this was done in the original series, it would be nice for him to come back to Tidmouth Sheds on certain nights, whenever there wasn’t much work on his branch line.
Actually when Edward left Tidmouth, the ending was meant to foreshadow Rebecca's appearance. Since Rebecca was originally going to be introduced in Season 21 not Season 22. Ian McCue confirmed it. If only Mattel let them finish Season 21 before starting Big World Big Adventures.
Incase you're wondering how my Big World Big Adventures rewrite is coming along, It's going great but I'm just having trouble with getting lines from other people
@@LFonTV Thank you for the info about your BWBA rewrite. And yeah, I forgot that Ian McCue confirmed about Edward leaving Tidmouth Sheds to forshadow Rebecca's appearance. Thanks for telling me that too.😀
@@TrevortheTrainFan Now just because Shed Edward is the worst doesn't mean BWBA shouldn't exist at all compared to Sharon Miller and AEG right?
@@randomnessetc5600 Right.
My least favorite Brenner episodes:
Season 17: The Afternoon Tea Express
Season 18: Signals Crossed
Season 19: Goodbye Sir Topham Hatt
Season 20: Three Steam Engines Gruff
Season 21: A Shed For Edward
A Shed for Edward (My Take):
1. Edward sleeps at Wellsworth Sheds like in the original episode.
2. Rosie, BoCo, Bill and Ben takes Phillip’s spot instead.
3: Edward has a real send off with flashbacks from various past episodes.
That is my take on A Shed for Edward.
That’s correct.
Even I’d make sure to write the script for them first, and also keep an eye on continuity.
Probably good for use:
1. Edward & Gordon
2. Edward’s Exploit
Great video again. A Shed for Edward is easily the worst. I'm perfectly fine with Thomas the Babysitter, and I agree with your points on episodes like The Fastest Red Engine on Sodor. I would add a few episodes on here like Signals Crossed, despite me liking that one a bit as a kid.
Totally agree!
In my opinion, Edward leaving Tidmouth Sheds for good was all James’ fault.
And Phillip’s because if wasn’t for him being all puppy eyed, Edward might’ve still been at the shed unless Mattel found another and maybe better way to write him off.
I do not Thomas the Babysitter either because of the only thing that makes the baby stop crying: keep rolling without stopping. Also I do not like babies either and would rather raise dogs. Also I do not like Three Steam Engines Gruff because of Toby being out of character.
To be honest, I was not expecting you to dislike "Thomas the Babysitter" as much as I do, your reasons with which I agree; dealing with babies is a complete CHORE. I respect your opinion on "The Fastest Red Engine on Sodor," because I personally think that episode is one of Season 21's highlights because of how energetic it is, particularly with Rob Rackstraw's performance as James in both English dubs. I do, however, agree with your having "Three Steam Engines Gruff" and "A Shed for Edward," and I totally understand your reasons for all five of these episodes.
I actually agree with your complaints about "A Shed for Edward", Trevor. The unsatisfying ending where Edward still wanted to sleep in Wellsworth sheds with Phillip was just stupid, i mean really wished that Edward was still part of the Steam Team, but sadly that's never gonna happen anymore, you know because of All Engines Go. So disappointing isn't it? 😡
Even the best writers can pull out duds. And while I believe Andrew Brenner did MUCH more good than bad Thomas, it's not bad to understand some flaws in those stories.
My top 5
5: saving time
4: no snow for Thomas
3: flatbeds of fear
2: the other side of the mountain
1: a shed for Edward
In my list, Saving Time is Nr. 1
Ok then
I know it’s stupid
@@emmawayland1 Agreed with your picks
My Top 5 Least Favourite Brenner Era Episodes:
1) Saving Time
2) Philip's Number
3) Rocky Rescue
4) Samson Sent for Scrap
5) Steamie Stafford
4:27 it might not br Andrew benner it probably mattel
Ok so heres what I have to say about the episodes that you picked.
5. I actually consider it to be a good episode despite it's flaws that you mentioned.
4. I consider the episode to meh.
3. I ABSOLUTELY agree with you on this episode it is HORRIBLE.
2. I also agree with you on this Episode, it could have been better if the baby DIDN'T FREAKING CRY A LOT.
1. I actually consider it to be a meh episode.
Dishonorable Mention:
Gordon Runs Dry: I agree with you that I consider this to be a good episode.
2:24 Vaccum/steam brakes for steamies, air and vaccum brakes for diesels.
7:25 I saw it coming, even though it is a kids show... besides, he does actually explode in the *age-restricted parody* named Shed 17 (sorry but I had to bring it up)
Oh ok thanks.
My least favorite Brenner Era episodes are Thomas makes a mistake and Gordon gets the giggles
Those are Big World Big Adventures episodes
I along with many others call A Shed For Edward just “That Episode”.
my guess as to why rosie was repainted was to make her look more realistic.
I mean have you ever seen any engines in real life in rosie’s pink livery?
Fun fact: Andrew brenner writed a few stories in the classic series like Thomas Percy and the Chinese dragon
Interesting
@@BlakesTrainsandMore4014
Another fun fact: All the episodes he wrote in Season 3 were based on magazine stories that were wrote by him.
Other episodes Brenner wrote-
Trust Thomas.
One Good Turn.
Diesel Does It Again.
Thomas Gets Bumped.
No Joke For James.
Heroes.
Percy, James and the Fruitful Day.
Henry’s Forest.
Thomas, Percy and the Post Train.
Edward, Trevor and the Really Useful Party.
@@thomasspongeconductor2222 now i did not know that
@@BlakesTrainsandMore4014, 😎 that is cool.
@@thomasspongeconductor2222 He was also involved with Season 5 (and Seasons 22/23 to an extent)
Episodes like
Thomas Percy and Old Slow Coach
Thomas and the Rumors
Forever and ever
&
Seeing is Believing
My theory for rosies new color is that she was givin a choice by the fat controller to either stick with her normal color or try a new design and she chose to try a new design and went through different paint jobs and when she was given the rose red she stuck with it.
And yes I just thought of this right now lol
My Worst Andrew Brenner Episodes per series;
Series 17: Steamie Stafford
Series 18: Samson Sent for Scrap
Series 19: The Other Side of the Mountain
Series 20: Diesel and the Ducklings
Series 21: A Shed for Edward
I actually like most of those episodes, but I respect your opinion anyways.
I can easily agree with you on this list. The only things I could take from "Three Steam Engines Gruff" are when Henry screams at the leaves covering his eyes and the moment Percy bumps onto Henry at Tidmouth Sheds. Another episode I would put on my least favourite Brenner episodes list is "Flatbeds of Fear" which just feels like a Miller episode - bland, boring, tedious.
Excellent work and keep up the amazing work, Trevor Davis!. 😁
Thank you so much!
3:18 it could just be his new funnel repainted.
Fun Fact: A Shed for Edward originally broadcast in the UK on Channel 5’s children’s block, Milkshake, WITHOUT narration.
That surprised me when I found out, but I thought that it was actually a good idea, especially because Bob the Builder, Pingu, later Seasons of Postman Pat and Fireman Sam, and even the 2005 film The Magic Roundabout, none of them used narration at all, and it made this episode rather interesting.
I would like to see some where there isn’t narration, or there being two different versions classed as either with or without narration.
It’s not a bad idea to try, and it could work for me too!
This was a lovely video! You made a lot of good points here! I respect your opinions, I wouldn't say all of these made my personal worst list, but I can see why you don't like these episodes. The Brenner era is also one of my favorite eras as well! :D Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see the next one!
Thank you so much!
@@TrevortheTrainFan If you said the Miller era is the worst era in your opinion, will you possibly eventually review your Top 5/10 best and worst BWBA episodes?
@@randomnessetc5600 No because I already did a top 10 worst & best episodes of Sharon Miller videos. But I haven't done one on BWBA yet.
6:32 Also Roshan from Ice Age.
UK based steam engines typically operated with a combination of a brake van and hand breaks. Some places experimented using chains or rods so that each car had breaks controllable from the engine. Steam engines in later times either had air breaks that were either charged with steam or compressed air - there are a few different systems around. Steam engines moved to having local breaks and a set of breaks on each car or wagon because it was much safer and quicker than having a single brake van and stopping to pin breaks before going down a hill (or in the US case running along the top of each car to set breaks). Although railways around the world didn't roll out breaks on carriages all at once - railways typically used old equipment on track that was light before upgrading the track and then either overhauling the rolling stock to have breaks or scrapping the rolling stock (because it's been old and been replaced)
Would you rather have knaford junction in season 1-4 and seasons 18-24 or without it in season 6-17
8:42 agreed Edward deserved a much better send off
Brenner era is good but I still think they've introduced too many new characters cause it would have made sense to bring back past characters
3:38 OMG that face
I do like rosies new paint much better it looks more railway style
While the baby crying his annoying, it’s at least realistic
2:52 is this an old stuck up reference on purpose? I hope so!
It probably is.
8:27 if he’s an american engine shouldn’t he be american in both dubs?
I have 2 agree with u not liking Thomas the Babysitter what i didn't get was after they dropped of the mother and child at the station half way through the episode what were they doing there? Because they were not long picked up by Thomas when he was coming back.
Henry Spots Trouble, Flatbeds Of Fear and and Signals Crossed are 3 Brenner era episodes I didn’t like
1. Henry Spots Trouble shows Henry being a cowardly dumbass. Like he even says chicken pox was scarier than rain, dude, he was never afraid of rain to begin with, (and no, I’m not counting The Adventure Begins).
2. Signals Crossed has a similar problem, except it’s Toby, giving him a fear he never had at the beginning, like I get it, traffic jam can be stressful but that’s nothing to be scared about.
3. The Flatbeds Of Fears ruins not one, not two but THREE characters. Salty made up probably the most uninteresting story he, (and to an extent, the staff of the show), has ever made up. Henry, Thomas and Emily are all over 100 years old, yet none of them ever even questioned the story, but then again, Bill and Ben are also over 100 but still act like children. The difference is that the former three are smarter and more mature than they are, so it just feels more wrong.
Don ´ t hate me but the fastest red engine of Sodor is one of my favorite episode in the Brenner era.
And that's totally fine!
The Fastest Red Engine on Sodor is my favourite episode from Series 21. Mainly because of the sequence of when James becomes a runaway. It kind of reminds me of when James became a runaway in Old Iron and instead of Edward going after him, it's actually Rosie (hense why the word "red" is in the title). And I especially love the crash scene at the end. Though, I do see where you're coming from with this brake fluid problem.
8:47 fun fact Boco was going to return in the original season 22 before BWBA
Hank was also gonna return, but were scrapped due to the production of BWBA, as well as Mattel thinking Sodor had too many male engines than female engines.
Edit: To be honest, it was pretty reasonable.
@@stevennorthrup5790 That was a rumor.
Also I don't like A New Shed For Edward because Edward doesn't remain at Tidmouth like he does in the classic series and Hit era.
What s your opinion on the other side of the mountain from season 19.
It’s good.
@@TrevortheTrainFan to me it's not.
@@zlatanzjajo254 Fair enough.
@@TrevortheTrainFan It's pretty overhated all because if the crash.
For a second i though this video was the aftermoon tea express lol but really nice video
Thanks.
Do you think Disney, Hasbro or Paramount should purchase Thomas?
I think Hasbro would be the way to go because they've done a great job with their own properties like MLP: FiM since the very beginning of the 2010s.
Finally, someone else who hates Thomas the Babysitter. I couldn’t agree more, that episode sucks!
Trivia: this was uploaded on my 10th birthday
I agree on most of them except The Fastest Red Engine on Sodor and Thomas The Babysitter. The episodes I despise are Henry Spots Trouble and Steamie Stafford
Trevor's back!
Andrew Brenner was of course a children's TV head writer, but he was fully aware that he doesn't want this script like Other Side of the Mountain.
Forever and Ever/Seeing in Believing was the last he had to go through after the Arlesdale trilogy and his scrapped script for an episode of S21.
Mattel really thinks James is a car...
steam locomotives are built different than auto vehicles.
also, i actually would've placed Rocky Rescue on the list instead of Thomas the Babysitter as it is the basis of a magazine story.
My least favourite Brenner Era episode is A Shed For Edward.
Ngl i hate the henry episodes as they for some reason made him scared even since cgi began
5:42 that's quite the same with me
I hate the Fastest Red Engine on Sodor! James crashing into the sheds was just a setup for Edward's leave.
8:45 Charlie and stafford shares sheds?
Most likely.
I blame Mattel for a shed or edward
About time!!!!
Ikr? Thanks for suggesting it!
Sorry about my impatience.
@@lennymarroquin That's okay. I instantly forgive you. 😉
Sometimes I can get impatient.
The Fastest red engine on Sodor: I thought of somebody to make an episode after Henry goes to sleep at Vicarstown, Gordon takes his frustration out on James for the cause of Edward and Henry's departure before or after Rebecca arrives to take over and James tries to talk over Gordon about his color nightmares about how he feels about how his actions affect himself and everyone around him.
The afternoon tea express: I think Stephen got his funnel back in the end of King Of the Railway...
3 steam engines gruff: Percy and Toby being scardy cats together. Which is why I hate CGI Percy.
Trevor was great to see back and I like how Henrietta had a better IQ and more braincells than Thomas, Percy and Toby in the cow scene.
Thomas the babysitter: My parents' life when I was a baby portrayed by Thomas.
A shed for Edward: Me when I'm rudley awakend by my phone ringing from unknown people calling and texting me...😠📱😴
My most favourite Children’s TV 📺 Show is Thomas The Tank Engine!
Random question, but what do your nephews and nieces watch on tv?
1. Trash Truck on Netflix
2. Morphle on Netflix
3. Cocomelon
4. T&F: BWBA
5. Tayo the Little Bus
6. And some things on Disney+ such as Cars and Planes
@@TrevortheTrainFan Have they seen Theodore Tugboat?
@@jameslisterthemarthplayer8322 No, not yet. I might show them that someday (if they end up liking it).
Personally, I don’t think Shedward is actually that bad. If you really think about it, Edward works better as a side character. Even in the classic series, he wasn’t really that prominent most of the time compared to the rest of the major characters.
I’m also not too mad at the other engines changing the subject at the end of the episode because it shows how mature they truly are.
Zack Wanzer explains this better than I could in his review so I suggest checking it out ua-cam.com/video/7Jq5ocNwi4A/v-deo.html
I suppose you do have a point
But in my opinion, the fastest red engine on sodor was good episode because there is flash back of thomas saves the day.
Fair enough.😉
8:39 Also where is boco?
Ikr?
Ranking my least favorite Brenner Era Thomas episodes:
1. A Shed For Edward
2. The Other Side of the Mountain
3. Three Steam Engines Gruff
4. Rocky Rescue
5. Saving Time, Samson At Your Service and Samson Sent for Scrap (TRIPLE-TIED)
In The Fastest Red Engine On Sodor James is said to use brake fluid so he can stop but in real life steam locomotives don’t use brake fluid they use vacuum and air brakes to stop.
Hello I’ve been watching your videos and I can tell you love those Chevron Cars, I was just wondering if u have the Golden Dusty, My grandpa has been working for chevron for over decades and also loves collecting these cars. Even since the 90’s I believe he has collected pretty much all of them, except for the Golden Dusty. It would be such a honor to give him this gift he finally wants because he isn’t the person that you can impress easily so I’ll love it if you can give me this one car
Unfortunately, I don't have a Golden Dusty. In fact, I actually gave away ALL of my Chevron Car collection to my two-year-old nephew. Sorry.
I think signals crossed is as bad as a shed for edward
How many times have toby gone to knapford junction, why is he afraid of it in season 18, how does every engine on sodor knows that and why is sur topham hatt stupid to scold toby before looking at the signal, Toby is really out of character in this episode, and ferdinand also cameos in this episode if you look closely.
The only think I like is it is the first lead role of toby in the era and altough bad had potential to bring his character back as the funny old grandpa.
Rating :2/10 stars
Yes, railway locomotives use not only vacuum or air brakes but also steam.
Thanks for the tip! 😀
At least you ask us if you say something wrong but Mattel just goes ahead and messes up
Fun fact: Andrew Brenner wanted to bring back Boco and Hank but Mattel wanted more female characters instead
6:09 Like that one Drake & Josh episode, Two Idiots and a Baby
1:35 same
As for your thought about babes etc.: 100% same with me. I got the same problems.
Now let’s do top 10 best Andrew Brenner episodes soon
I'm kind of thinking doing a top 25 BEST Andrew Brenner episodes video (with 5 from each of seasons 17-21).
Yeah that’s better because Andrew Brenner has so many amazing episodes he made
Steam trains have only Steam and Air/vacuum Brakes wich don't use any Brake fluids.

@Michael Butler Oh no this is not my ranking, this is what I think Trevor Davis’s ranking is.
@Michael Butler Sorry, I didn’t know.
I agree on some of theme like TFREOS.
Pretty good list :-)
Thanks!
I don't like a shed for Edward because it predicts Nia replacing Edward in BwBa. It's mostly James' fault in the episode.
Okay, while it was James’s fault for crashing into Tidmouth sheds, it’s not really his fault for Edward moving to wellsworth. It’s not like he intended for Edward to move out. That was Edward’s own choice. It was unexpected.
I'll think they have budget for Tara Strong to voice the baby in Thomas and Friends
A pretty good video and I will respect your opinion on the five episodes from the Brenaissance Era and to be honest I actually enjoyed all of them and I will respect your opinion on a shed for Edward I think it's a pretty good episode and maybe I can understand why people do not like it because Edward leaving Tidmouth Sheds but maybe I could understand because wellsworth sheds is near to his branchline and I can understand and also little Thomas returned in season 24 of the episodes Thomas's Fuzzy Friend and he also made a cameo in Thomas and the inventor's Workshop along with fuzzy so overall I enjoyed all of them of the Brenaissance Era it has a lot of good episodes for me intro enjoyed season 20 when I was just 10 years old after that I saw the great race on UA-cam before I gave myself a copy of the DVD of the great race and I enjoyed season 21 when I was 11 years old overall the episodes in the era from season 17 to season 21 are really good I don't know probably I might have to put it in second place while Big World Big Adventures in first and maybe in third will have to be Sharon Miller era I will respect your opinion so on the five episodes.
6:32 oh yeah and about Rugrats by the way I do remember watching it on VHS as well as on the 90s are all that before it got rebranded as nicksplat which I do not mind at all I only had two VHS tapes of Rugrats and that's it and as well as 4 DVDs which I might do a collection on them to honor the 30th anniversary of the franchise I was very glad that the Rugrats is able to get a reboot on its own even though it's CGI time to not my for it I had to respect each other's opinion if they liked it or hate it because it felt a little off but I personally respect them and the new voice actors playing the adult characters like Tommy Dewey as Stu pickles.
2:11 I didn’t know that
mattel, a shed for Edward was the chance to bring back BoCo
I don't plan on having children for various reasons. Not because of when they're young but when they get older
I think Edward moved to Wellsworth to be closer to his branch line. That's why
And that's fair enough.
But still, I think there should've been a tearful goodbye of some kind.
@@TrevortheTrainFan In my version, Gordon was frantic and begged Edward not to leave. (James would have too, but he wasn't there) but Edward assured everyone that even though he moved out of the sheds, he was still part of the team. After all, Toby's still part of the team and he lives way far away from the sheds. Same thing for Henry. Just because they don't live in the sheds doesn't mean they're not the in main cast.
What they should've done is kept Edward and Henry in Tidmoth Sheds also add in Extra Births for Nia and Rebecca.
@@TrevortheTrainFan due it mattel
Rosie getting her new livery is a sign of staying in Vicarstown, right? That's the reason why Rosie gets repainted. I like the new voice actress replacing two of them back in the Miller era.
Although I think her new voice actress does suit her well, but it should've been UK exclusive because Rosie originated from the USA during WWII.
About James's brakes, it would have said that the brakes would wore down if he keeps stopping after a high rate of speed. If you put the brakes to hard, the brakes will get less efficient than before. The worn brakes will recover after minutes. And yes, only road vehicles have brake fluid.
I Have The Same Opinion On Thomas The Babysitter as You.
Yeah, #4 was an entire episode based off of Stephen being a dickhead and getting karma at the end, which was nice
