What was the total time it took to program the new module do you have to push on the pedal like in the bleeding procedure to be able to program it or you just load it in there and it's done?
You have to log into GM Service Programming System, pay for a program event, download the file from GM then upload it to the truck. You need a compatible pass through programmer and scan tool or laptop. These about 30 minutes.
Mine is a gas 6.0 and runs fine with it unplugged I have a 2011 2500hd 4wd crew cab mine fried and caused a no start issue so i unplugged it until i get a new module currently on backorder thru gm
I have the exact same truck, same problem. Gm dealer give me a crazy price to fix it and said they were 7,000 parts on backorder.. to me that is obviously a common issue. Anyway, I had it fixed and it lasted for 2 months and it burnt again. I need to know why before I fix it again.
@williammerrow what exactly did you replace? The ABS module? Could be the pump motor is drawing excessive current and taking out the module but I'm not sure. I believe I only replaced the module on this one and it's still fine. Could be just a defective module. Was it a new unit. Any parts warranty
Good Work! 2017 Chevy Express van EXT 2500 6.0L U0121( lost communication with electronic brake control module) Started out as intermittent issue, now is permanent. Not exactly sure where to start with this one.
@thirdgearboogie2210 start by checking termination resistance of the Can bus, if ok test fuses that supply power to the TBCM then load test powers and grounds right at the module.
@PhillipBailey Do you happen to know of a free source online for wiring schematics. Not sure where to test for can high and can low. It like it should have a resistance of 60 ohms?
Hello, Sir what was this brake control module making the truck do??? My truck is at times braking and making a wining noise im not sure what it is i have 1 code only! It says service trailer brake system my Mechanic told me to buy this to resolve that sudden braking stop and noise! Is this what was happening tot his trucks
ua-cam.com/video/ll0RIj0QTek/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared That is the link to the first video. Multiple Warning Lights On, intermittent no crank and Multiple Network Codes. What codes is your truck setting? Noise?
When you had thos failure even after the new module was installed but before programming, could you communicate with the ebcm? I've got one that won't communicate, but won't program either using an autel maxiflash to program. Gives me a no crank but a few flips of the ignition and it will usually start and run just abs and service trailer brake messages with no comm with the ebcm.
A new ebcm will communicate but set a code for lack of programming if it's not programmed. If you have an EBCM take down the network I've found that it my not crank due to loss of communication between the ECM and BCM but depends how the network is affected. If its a diesel you can unplug the ABS module and it will start and run but a gas engine has the fuel pump control module downstream of the ebcm so you would have to bypass the EBCM to restore communication with the fuel pump control module. You can also plug in a used EBCM and it should run but you may get codes for vin mismatch. If you can't communicate with a new module and it won't program check termination resistance at 6 and 14 of the DLC. It should measure 58 to 62 ohms. (Disconnect the battery first). There is a termination resistor taped in tge harness to the left front of the spare. It can get corrosion in it and short out the can bus. Time for a labscope...
When you program ebcm with the mdi2 do you have to select if it has a ITBC (trailer brake controller)or will it automatically recognize it as having the ITBC.? Just asking as I have a issue with no com to ITBC. I had coms to it before installing a new ebcm due to a internal short to ground from hi speed wakeup circuit LT blu wire through module. It was programmed at dealer but now a no com to ITBC also itbc was programmed before ebcm and is new as well. I checked hi speed wires and load tested them with modules disconnected on the legs of circuit going from ebcm to itbc and itbc to resistor. Ohm tested them as well for grins and all good resistor tested out where it should be. Checked LT blue wire as well since when I had coms it had a u2099 code in itbc and the wires tested good after removing ebcm (this is what necessitated replacing ebcm. I have a u0137-00 in bcm no com to itbc/trailer brake controller. Kinda pulling my hair out on this one could use some pointers/confirmation of my first question as this ebcm might be bad. Going to try a bypass test tomorrow to bypass ebcm to see if I get coms back or not
Gm sps is VIN based so if the truck has integrated trailer brake from the factory it will automatically load the appropriate programming. I don't believe there is a different file for abs module either way. Are other modules setting codes against the TBC module? Is this a gas or diesel truck? Check termination resistance at 6 and 14 of the dlc.
Bypassing the ebcm is a good idea. Watch pin grip on those can bus wires. Be sure your probes are slightly smaller than the terminals in the ebcm. If I remember they are .024"
@@PhillipBailey bcm is reporting no com nothing else. Resistance for can bus is 60 ohms so that's good. I have one other leed to check out (a possible back feed from the lin bus)... It's a 6.6 duramax
@@aw317 I had a newer gm truck that had no com with the trailer brake module and it was actually the scanner. Tried Snap-on and Autel Maxisys both no com. Tried a thinktool and it worked fine. I'd try a different scanner.
I have a 2008 2500hd gas which pins do I need to connect to complete the circuit. Trying to check fuel pump. I'm getting multi codes for communication if I disconnect the abs the codes go away except u0121 for abs Thanks in advance for your help
@@PhillipBailey The RPO code in the glove box is JH6. If I am looking at the diagram correctly, I am completing the circuit by connecting yel/blk to yel and tan/blk to tan to check that the fuel pump is working. Is that correct?
Hello Sir, Is it possible to bench test the EBCM? I just had one replaced on a 2012 Silverado 1500 from dealer and I'm suspecting some shady business and would like to know how if possible to test my old module. The old module has three sets of numbers on it. Not sure which is the PN 1. 5695L8191211085 2. D265952D87 (982) 20220E2560 3. 920908B2051E2560*
@jbucks166 it can't be bench tested. If its a complete assembly, module and EHCU it could be connected to the truck harness and then scanned for codes. It will need to be programmed to the truck before it will function correctly. Even if the part numbers match the internal programming will be different.
I have a 2010 2500 dmax, I currently lost 4x4 and I have a u0100 code (lost communication with abs module) and a c0561 code… could these be the culprit? I’ve tried almost everything else…
What module has the codes in it? Can you scan the ABS and 4x4 modules? Check terminating resistance across pins 6 and 14 with the battery disconnected. it should be 60ohms.

Yes I believe the 6.0 gas does not use a fuel pump driver as does the 4.8 and 5.3.

It's not that simple. This truck had multiple Uxxxx codes due to the ABS module taking down the data bus.

There are potentially three brake options so I need the RPO code for the braking option. It should start with a J. Codes are in the glove box.
