Bought this disc when it came out and was blown away. As a longtime Sabbath fan, I couldn’t believe they had made an album that would equal and even surpass some of the Ozzy/Dio releases. Tony Martin. What can you say? One of the all-time greats. So underrated. Iommi created some of his best riffs on this one. Cozy Powell was a great fit with this lineup. Next to Bill Ward, I think he was the most powerful drummer Sabbath had. And then there’s Brian May’s solo. I tell you, when most people think of Queen, they think of “We Will Rock You”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, and “Under Pressure”. I’ll bet they would never guess that it’s him absolutely shredding this solo. The guy can match riffs with the best and heaviest as he proves here. Anyway, the Tony Martin era is not only one of the finest Sabbath eras, but one of the best eras in heavy metal.
The production here is second to none. All those 80s bands could never balance quiet/loud passages on their records. It's done on this album flawlessly.
