For me 70's Priest is the best Priest. Way ahead of their time, endless creativity and technicality to never sound old even 40+ years old and sounds just as awe inspiring the day it came out. Long live the Metal Gods 🤘🤟
From about '67-'90 the music was worth listening to the radio for. There's a good bit of good music since '90, but the stuff I like isn't on the radio. By the way, I'm 63 too. Lately, I'm listening to a lot of stuff I used to shun, i.e. B-52s, Oingo Boingo, Pretenders, etc.
One of the best Judas Priest songs ever. It’s such a badass song lyrically and instrumentally. Don’t be deceived out of your dreams by believing negativity or going down the easy path,-Keep striving for your hearts desires, you are already free
I remember hearing The Ripper on the radio one time , but never knew who did it . Bought the album & then I remembered that song . Dreamer Deceiver / Deceiver is my favorite Priest Song !
I'm starting to think Sad Wings of Destiny is one of the most underrated metal albums of all time. I can't believe how overlooked it is today. None of the tracks on the album have over 1m listens on Spotify! Compared to all the other sludge that gets millions of plays on the platform, that should be considered a small crime. The album is expertly composed with insanely gifted musicians and a ridiculously talented vocalist spearheading each track.
It is in my top 3 all time .. two others are Faith No More- Angel Dust, and Blind Melon Soup. I dont know which is number 1 or 3 though , but soup is #2..
I've been listening to this album for 40 years, I remember 35 years ago being highly depressed, had lost my father then brother to self inflicted deaths. I went traveling on my motorcycle which had engine failure. I stopped paused, and listened to this album as I watched the Ocean and bird life. 35 years later life is awesome as is Judas Priest. Still amazing and Rob is still singing notes only dogs can hear. XX
Lyrics: Standing by my window, breathing summer breeze Saw a figure floating, 'neath the willow tree Asked us if we were happy, we said we didn't know Took us by the hands and up we go We followed the dreamer through the purple hazy clouds He could control our sense of time We thought we were lost but no matter how we tried Everyone was in peace of mind We felt the sensations drift inside our frames Finding complete contentment there And all the tensions that hurt us in the past Just seemed to vanish in thin air He said in the cosmos is a single sonic sound That is vibrating constantly And if we could grip and hold on to the note We would see our minds were free...oh they're free We are lost above Floating way up high If you think you can find a way You can surely try

It's not really a well-known album with the masses. This song in particular Dreamer Deceiver Deceiver is Priest at their best. The guitar solo towards the end of Dreamer it's not a note out of place.
This song describes the way we felt back in the 70's when we would be bonging out and partying while we listened to it in the purple hazy clouds in the room of a friend's house on those cold winter days skipping class.
In a way, Roger Bain’s sort of misguided orthodoxy as to what a rock band was supposed to sound like in 1974, which caused him to keep Victim Of Changes, and I believe also The Ripper off of the debut album, did Priest a favor. While it denied them a more groundbreaking killer first album, it made for a really classic second album considering that they’re songwriting and playing had involved quite a bit in the intervening time. So they were able to add these two miler tracks to the even more exciting they were creating, making Sad Wings Of Destiny the undeniable knock out phenomenal classic that it is. And it’s not like Rock A Rolla sucks anyway. Even though they held back two killer tracks, it’s still a solid debut. Heavy and dark, and a bit sleazy, Rock A Rolla is a unique mix of straightforward rock with some progressive, psychedelic, and blues elements. Their debut album therefore stands as a unique testament to the influences upon which they built the mighty monolith that would become Judas fucking Priest’. So let’s cut Roger a break. 😂 BUMMER IS RIGHT 😢😅😂😂
Silly ME forgot to mention "who" was picking up my slack.... LOL my older sister Rubes 😊
Poder tocar esta canción fue uno de los motivos por los que quise saber tocar la guitarra.
yeah one of my favorites judas priest albums
IMO this and Dissident Aggressor are the two most influential tracks on the next generation of metal's music.
Thay did the best Johnny be Good I've ever heard and I'm 60yr old rocker.
I love this song so much, cause reminds of my passed hubby!
Standing by my window, breathing summer breeze
Saw a figure floating, 'neath the willow trees
Asked us if we were happy, we said we didn't know
Took us by the hands and up we go
We followed the dreamer through the purple hazy clouds
He could control our sense of time
We thought we were lost but no matter how we tried
Everyone was in peace of mind
We felt the sensations drift inside our frames
Finding complete contentment there
And all the tensions that hurt us in the past
Just seemed to vanish in thin air
He said in the cosmos is a single sonic sound
That is vibrating constantly
And if we could grip and hold on to the note
We would see our minds were free, oh they're free
We are lost above
Floating way up high
If you think you can find a way
You can surely try
Solar winds are blowing
Neutron star controlling
All is lost, doomed and tossed, at what cost forever
Meteors fly around me
Comets die, and then they
And then they, you wanna see how they try to surround me
I can say, here today, we shall stay forever
If you want to find us in a hurry
Oh let me tell you don't you worry
I can say, here today, we shall stay forever
one of if not the best judas albums
Li avevo visti in un devastante concerto nel 79!!!! Ed ho ancora male alle orecchie ROB è stato Incredibile ❤⚡️💥💣
Probably the greatest rock album ever produced. And im not the only one who thinks so. Just ask the Metal Gods!
Favourite priest track from my favourite priest album
Vou abrir minha janela! Magnífica música!
Beautiful
Still blows me away...
Heavy Metal's answer to Stairway to Heaven
1976 heavy metal.....love it.
This album is amazing
These tracks go so hard at the end of 2023
Amo esta canción ❤
Thank you uploader! You have just made my day so much brighter
This was before them signing with CBS. They had complete artistic control. It really shows.
Imho, the greatest vocals ever for this genre
For some reason this song makes me cry.
Bu nasıl bir parça hâlâ içimi eritebiliyor.. o haykırış bambaşka zaten
Everything I hear the song I get chills. There is no explaining to people back in the day. Nobody knew who this band was. This was the s***. Hands down Judas priest was so ahead of the time.
Number one ballads forever
good job!
