- It's a hot summer day and we're out on Lake Erie fishing for sheepshead. You'd think we'd be out catching another kind of fish, but we're actually jigging for sheephead with Stingnose Jigging Spoons. Sheephead They are a strong fish and give a great fight!

As always until next time, good luck and good fishin'! - Спорт
I used to see huge Sheephead rolling around the marinas on Lake Eerie. I was always told, "You don't want to catch those dirty things" lol Same was said about carp though, and carp are some of my favourite fish to target.
So glad you did this! Not usually something I TRY to catch, but they are great fun to reel in and love to fight! They don’t get enough respect
Hello IVO . . . Enjoyed watching this video - just as much as you both enjoyed catching those Sheephead !
Ivo back in the late seventies when I fished Lake Erie we would stay all weekend in a camp and fish all weekend. There was a man in the camp told us to keep the sheep head he’s got a way to fix them so we would go walleye fishing and we’d bring him back the sheep head. What it was he made himself a homemade smoker and he would smoke those sheep head. I’m telling you they was pretty good eating 👍on the video
One of my favorite fish to catch.
They put up a good fight
You ever put any on the table? If so I'd like to see a catch n cook!
They're not bad. I've got a catch and cook of sheephead on my page if you want to see my impressions!
@@lylegayder I'll come check it out!
I did it, and I didn’t like them! Just my experience.
Not sure what a Lake Erie sheephead would taste like, but I catch them in Oneida lake in Upstate New York all the time and I tell you, they are really good eating.
Sheephead are certainly fun to catch.
you know when you got a 10lb sheephead on your rod lol... those things are fun to catch as they fight so hard
I use to always catch white bass as a kid and the first time I caught one I was like, “What is this thing...”
I love sheepshead, if you know how to clean and cook a fish they taste great.
Really like these sheephead videos! Good way to show off those new lures. Wish it was a bit longer though. You should include some more dialogue. What does Antonio/Ivo think about sheepshead vs catfish? Why don't you eat them? What other baits might work? etc, etc...
Got into these babies on worms in champlain. The color difference is wild
fellas have way too much fun. What's next Stock Car driving at Merritville?
I don't understand their reputation as a "trash" fish. They are fun as heck to catch, and they have tasty firm white meat.
Freshwater drum at it’s finest!
also called gasper goo's, good eating
Bought some stingnoses a few weeks ago. Finally caught a 2" bluegill with the 1/16th. So I guess Im finally figuring them out lol
FYI definitely make sure theres no structure. I already lost my 1/2oz trying to bounce it off the bottom.
what pound test
I was probably using 15 lb braid with a 10 lb fluorocarbon leader
@@thundermistlures ok thanks!👍
Let's see a catch and cook!
if we get a chance, we will try to do an episdoe some time later this year :)
I get ribbed by some of my fishing buddies for cooking and eating these fish, but I'll tell you they are way under-appreciated! They have a firm flesh that tastes a lot like cod and I love cod. My family loves it when I cook up a Bangladeshi-style stew served over rice that I learned from another of my favorite UA-cam sites. Bon voyage my friends!
How do you cook them?
Mark they seem like a saltwater fish that got trapped in freshwater eons ago. They remind me of black drum and redfish. Grill, blackened, or make chowder out of them. Excellent for poor man's lobster.
@ Mark M Bangladeshi Stew over Rice sounds good...any tips for a recipe
@@billwalker4836 Here is the recipe I used from the Catfish and Carp UA-cam channel: ua-cam.com/video/e7_x9178hT4/v-deo.html
The guy making the video is proving carp can be good to eat and he has a friend from Bangladesh come over to cook the carp he just caught. He's tall, the guy from Bangladesh is short, and they both have little kids running around to make life interesting. It's a hoot! But best of all, it's a great recipe if you like authentically India-style food.
Oh, BTW, just like some other types of fish, there is a dark strip of meat running down the side. I cut that part out. Also, in the video the fish chunks are cooked with the skin on. I don't like it that way. I prefer to fillet the meat, keep the light flesh and cut it into about 1-inch cubes. Other than that, I follow the recipe closely.
What is the name of that song at the start of every video???
not sure? Our webmaster takes care of that for us :)
We caught more spring jigging this year than we ever have , you can have them nasty things
Some people eat them and tell me they taste yummy. You got to cook them right away. Tastes like lobster. Lol
Those are nasty ass fish. I don’t even touch them
I ate one one time and it was fucked couldn't really even swallow the meat but man they are fun to catch
