Chester's vocals on Breaking the Habit are amazing, I swear I feel it in my spine ❤ I remember hearing it live, where Chester sang the last part without instruments, and let the audience finish the last line, it was beautiful!

Mike had the lyrical concept for this song long before Meteora; he wrote the lyrics based on a friend of his.
However, Chester initially had a hard time performing the song live, because of how much he related to the lyrics...

No Mike sure but this song was his. He wrote this one and Chester loved this one the most because it spoke to him.

After Chester's passing away, the end of this video was "changed." They removed the scene of Chester jumping off the building.

The phrase at the end 'no Mike' is funny because Mike wrote the lyrics and melody of this song.

Working in Thailand at the time in a broken marriage and addicted to many things, including death thrill seeking. This is the song of Meteora that spoke to me most.

This music video was directed by Joe Hahn (LP DJ). The animation was done in Japan by a well known anime company. You can see the behind the scenes/making the video for this song on UA-cam.
Mike wrote this song about a friend he had in high school who ghosted he after high school. This song really got to Chester when Mike first brought the song to him. Chester had a hard time recording this song for Meteora. In fact he had a hard time the first time he sang this on stage in front of their fans.

Same animators as the animated scenes in Kill Bill? Really similar in style

Great reaction, and a great analysis of the song, I was glad to see you appreciate it.
This is my favourite LP song, and my favourite song ever. I'm glad you immediately caught the message. Mike wrote this song for Chester, to help him with his drug addiction. It sticks out because it's litterally one of the only songs from LP of the time (between Hybrid Theory and Meteora) without a heavy guitar or heavy screams, and that's what makes it stand out from the rest. It was also Chester's favourite song.

Thankyou for your reaction about LP band.. The Legend,

I always perceived the habit that he is breaking to be a circular cycle of self-destructive behaviour. The best part of their lyrics of course has always been their ability to morph in peoples minds into something relevant, meaningful and personal

to clarify the cycle of self-destructive behaviour could be drug or alcohol fueled, but it can also just be a pattern a person has fallen into being a victim or bully.

*This song reminds me of "Dragon Ball GT", I had a pirated DVD with several episodes where this song played in the middle of each episode*

I’ve actually just started getting into Linkin Park. I’ve missed out big time. One of the things I have just noticed is that Chester Bennington idolized Depeche Mode, another great band whom you react too. They even did a version of Enjoy the Silence which you should check out. You should check out Faint by them, it’s one of my favourites so far.

yeh, so much of LP lyrics were dark & moody which I thought was really thoughtful/cool at the time.
since Chester passed they take on so much more meaning.
he could be also be 'clutching' on to someone or something that keeps him focused away from his demons??
the 'habit' could just as easily be behaviours/cycles of depression etc.??
