Iim 63 yrs and had a hip replacement 3 weeks ago I still have numbness around my knee and thigh, also I feel as if the operated leg is noticeably longer but I’m so happy to have had this procedure done and be pain free

Thanks for your comment. The symptoms you describe are very common and they will get better. It takes about 3 months to get over the effects of surgery and a year to 18 months to reach the end point.
My mother got a left hip replacement in 2000 and now her left hip is swollen. She's been struggling with her leg for so many years. I Thank God that she's still here.

I’m three weeks post op THR. Firstly, it’s painful AF! I bought into a lot of people saying that it was mildly discomfortable. What? Discomfort? That word can be used for too tight clothing, not a major operation where your femur head is sawed off and a femoral component that’s hammered down into your thigh bone. Doctors also love the term virtually. It’s virtually painless. Sure. I’ve had lots of surgical and life pain. But hip arthroplasty takes the pain cake. The hospital did me wrong by giving me a nasty painful condition called phlebitis. Firstly, they didn’t manage my pain effectively so I had to stay two nights. Phlebitis is a superficial thrombosis in the veins. It happened at my IV cannula site. I told them to take the IV out cuz I could see it beginning to swell. But they didn’t. Now I’ve got painful hardened veins along my forearm. Three weeks out and it has barely healed. I’m still dependent on narcotics for pain. I don’t think I’ll ever subject myself to this nightmare again. Don’t even get me started on how much help you truly need post op. I see why they used to send thr patients to a rehab facility.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds very traumatic. The recovery can be slow and painful but most people get there in the end.

Mine was painful AF too. I had no luck with adequate pain relief. Tramadol only. What a joke. I call that elder abuse.

My foot of the hip replacement leg, bottom of the foot is scaly and cracks appear. I also wear a compression sock on that leg. All being said the surgery was life changing for the better. Have you ever heard of the dry foot condition ? Thank you for a great source of information.
Thanks for your question and comment.. Hard, cracked skin on the sole of the foot is a common problem even if you haven't had a hip replacement. Having said that, lots of people find it difficult to look after their feet easily both before and after a hip replacement. This makes the skin problem more difficult to treat. There are lots of products like moisturizers on the market that can help, but if you are struggling to reach your foot, then I recommend that you see a chiropodist or podiatrist. They will be able to give you appropriate advice and treatment. Hope this helps!

I had a total hip replacement at age 37 (necrosis) my IT band never healed properly. I'm now 56 and have always had hip pain especially walking, and most activities. It stayed sore on the outside all the time an around the incision site. This past year I've been dealing with a Burning pain deep inside the hip that radiates like Nerves pulsating outward. It keeps me awake at night and also wakes me up sometimes. I had a MRI several years ago and it looked good. Now this new strange and worrisome pain is there. Anyone ever heard of this or know anything about it? From just the MRI , my Dr says "I may be able to keep my hip for life". Because I've had chronic pain since day I could put full weight barring, I feel this replacement has stolen the best years of my life but I always try to keep my chin up and put on a happy face because no one wants to be around a downer all the time. Right! I wouldn't wish the life altering issues on anyone but I can't be the only person to experience the chronic pain either. If anyone is experiencing the same or similar problems, or has any ideas why the sudden deep burning, radiating pain please comment. Blessed Day to All

Oh, it's life changing alright. I have progressive pain since my surgery in 2017. All my doctors will give me is Tylenol. Heaven forbid they give me pain killers because I could become addicted. I now see why people in excruciating pain turn to alcohol and illegal drugs. Sometimes something even worse. I'm young, 59, and if I will only get worse as my life progresses, I don't know where I will end up.
Sorry to hear about your painful hip. Getting to the bottom of why someone has persistent pain can be difficult. Often it is due to low grade infection, or pain coming from the spine. I hope that you are able to find someone to help you.

It's a bunch of bs. Relief my pain let me handle my addition concerns. I think it's a conspiracy. I was in agonizing pain for over a year w a broken back no one would listen. Finally got a surgery. And a pain pill. Now I save my pain pills like a hoarder God knows I'm more afraid of not being able to get relief when I need it then being in pain. The other day my hip was hurting so bad I couldn't walk. Took a pain pill and it was life changing. It infuriates me. How is it ok I can feel so much better yet that be such a terrible thing? Oh but they have no problem putting us on a government funded drug for crazy if we become addicted or what about costly surgery 80K to relief pain. Somethings not right. I'm a grown adult. Stop managing everything just because some are addicts others actually are in agony. We deserve to live a quality of life that's worth living without shame.
@@spudm4000 same here. Bc they couldn’t manage my post op pain effectively, I had to spend two nights in the hospital. It’s painful AF. And cannot believe people say that they were fine several days post. Tylenol works for them? Oh K. Not my go to pain reliever for a level 6-7 pain.
@@Mstanahinck you are absolutely right it's like they want to penalize everyone when we have legitimate pain and we suffer I'm bedroom half of the time I'm only 59 and this is big conspiracy to have everybody suffer because of a few other people that want to go ahead and abuse pills or whatever they do with it

😅 thanks for the very informative videos I wish you were my hip surgeon I'm 65. 2 1/2 weeks after surgery have very intense pain when getting up out of bed and standing from a sitting position for a while, especially in the thigh. Starting PT now, got delayed. Have pre-existing condition of spinal stenosis bulging discs anular tears. Wish I could find someone like yourself in the Chicago Illinois area to talk to about recovery and symptoms I'm having. Losing faith in my hip sergeon
Thanks for your comments. In my experience it takes at least 6 weeks for these sorts of symptoms to settle down. Lie down for at least an hour twice a day and don’t sit down for more than 30 minutes at a time. Your body needs time to heal.
I just had right hip surgery and what was supposed to be a 5 day stay in the hospital turned into an 18 day stay in the hospital. Including being transferred to a rehab center near IAD. The swelling and pain I have has been a real problem. Home care and now this week I'm starting outpatient PT. I'm not allowed to drive yet because I had right hip surgery. Fact! There are problems and I unfortunately am a slow healer with alot of PAIN!
What a nightmare. Hopefully you will go on to make a good recovery. Have plenty of rest.
It varies from person to person. Patience and time healing from the replacement is key. I am trying to avoid the replacement, however it is affecting my way of life....
I'm still trying to get back on my feet and have been in PT for a while. And I just out of the hospital from a heart attack so this sets me back even further after all this time. One problem is compounding after another problem.
I'm in Canada, so it may be different here. I'm 71, had my left hip replaced 2 1/2 weeks ago, Lateral approach. I was given Tramacet and Tylenol for two days in the hospital. Went home on the third day with a prescription for Tramacet, 2 tablets three times a day. I had traveling nurses out 4 times over 2 weeks, changing the dressing. I tapered off the Tramacet, and by day 15 was off it. I felt the treatment and pain relief were very adequate. One thing different I noticed is that my surgeon recommends several weeks of non weight bearing, using either a walker or crutches. I suspect that is the reason for so little pain. The incision is completely closed and dry. If I do too much, I ache a little, but nothing like the pain before surgery, and I sleep well on my back...no side sleeping recommended for 12 weeks. My physiotherapist assures me I will be walking by week 7, probably without a cane.
2 1/2 weeks post OP. Im doing great ! I went home the next day with no difficult pain at all. I mostly took a percription TYLENOL in the morning and befor bed. my therapy has been waking but I did watch a few videos to see how to get up and down and NEVER cross my legs. I also still sleep with a pillow between my legs at night. I'll be out dancing again in no time :) Connie murphy you tube :)

I have had both hips replaced and (knock on wood) no major issues. The first there was virtually no pain at all. The second had pain for a month or so after - I think because it wasn't my dominant leg and the muscles around that hip had atrophied. The pain was like a complete charlie horse of all muscles from knee to lower back. Before both surgeries, I waited until the only way to get around was to crawl. So bad you can't sleep or even think. I have had 17+ surgeries and this was the third easiest. I hope/pray it will last until I go to the great beyond (and meet with Jesus for my final evaluation) - I am not too old nor certainly not young at all. I am sorry for all the troubles people in the comments are having. There are few things worse than constant pain followed by random excruciating sharp pain that has you on edge all the time.

My father had complication from both hip replacement. after his first surgery he developed blood clots to fifty percent of both lungs and ended up in intensive care after he recovered from he went back to have his other hip done due to the blood thinners they were giving him he suffered a bleed into operation site leaving with almost no feel in his feet and leaving him on crutches to walk. One of his replacements had to be replaced within a few years as it kept dislocating and after a fall he smashed the replacement out of his thigh requiring a two month hospital stay and surgery to wire together the bone. Thankfully I live in Australia so we were completely covered by the government.
Thanks for posting this. What a terrible time your father had. I hope that he is alright now. I have certainly known some patients who were unlucky enough to have a series of complications like your father's. It takes a terrible toll on the patients and their families. I lived and worked in Australia for a few years and know how excellent the healthcare system is there, particularly in orthopaedic surgery.
@@Lathamhipsurgery I was his full time carer until his passing he suffered a series of problems due to the complications and a life time of hard physical labour but I like to think he was happy for the most part.

@@masterbayu2881 Im sorry to hear about your problem. It’s difficult for me to give advice without a proper assessment of you. Are you able to see an orthopaedic surgeon in Kenya? He or she should be able to make a diagnosis and advise on treatment.
I have had a total of 8 operations for two hip replacements, all done in private clinics! My femur was shattered in theatre, both my legs look like the picture in your video. I am fed up! I am in constant pain, and my doctors cannot do anything more, they say, except replace the femur!
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had such a bad time. A total femoral replacement can be very effective in this situation. It needs to be done by a surgeon who uses this technique regularly and who has a lot of experience in it. I hope it works out for you.
I am almost 9 months post hip replacement. My groin pain has never totally left. I had an injection in my greater trochanter a month ago. That helped the lateral pain I didn't even realize I had because of the groin pain. Then, almost 1 month post injection, while stepping out of the bath there was a pop/grind pain in the lateral side. Very painful and I iced and took ibuprofen. Now I am having trouble rising from a sitting position after this popping. My PA said give it 8 weeks to heal. Is this right?
Thanks for posting. I’m sorry to hear about your troubles. I tell my patients that it can take a year to 18 months to reach the end point of recovery from surgery. Having said that, your symptoms would make me want to investigate things more closely to see if there is a problem with the new hip. Depending on the clinical assessment I would want to get some up to date radiographs, an ultrasound scan and some blood tests. Hope this helps.
I did thr 6 month before. Still I have a pain. Crp and esr is normal.

It’s probably just the nerves being sensitive after the surgery. If you are concerned about it you should speak to your surgeon.
I had hip replacement end of March it dislocated next morn I'd not got out of bed procedure to put it back when that failed another op to replace the socket etc 2 wks in hospital its now August im still in pain and slow !

I had both replaced nine year ago I had heavy duty ones , I now get a burning in my right groin now sometimes its that bad it makes me feel sick ,apart from that its great, is it a nerve or a muscle ?
It could be either, or something else. You should ask your surgeon to assess you.
I had my hip replacement surgery on September 20 ,2019. Big lump came up on my leg so the Doctor went back in and cleaned my leg out and replaced parts on October 31st. I went back to the Doctor and fluid on my leg again, Another drain it no infection in my leg but he pulled out about 4 12 oz water bottle full of fluid off my leg.in 4 visits. First one was dark gray color and then it go lighter each time. It's back again but smaller but deep. The hip surgery Doctor what me to have a drain tube in for 48 hours,Then take it out. What should I do. I feel a lot of pain but he said that I'm secretive to pain. BUT I KNOW WHEN I FELL PAIN. I kind you help please.Thank you . Let me know soon
I’m sorry to hear about this. It must be very worrying for you. From what you have said it sounds as though there is infection within the hip joint. Is your surgeon an expert in the management of joint replacement infection? If not then ask them to refer you to a centre where this problem is dealt with by a multidisciplinary team. Hope it works out well for you.

I underwent to hip replacement surgery before 2weeks but my wound started to leak serosanginous fluid I went to the dr he did for me open cleaning surgery on the 14,day after the first surgery then I back home in the 3rd day the leakage of serosanginous fluid returnd back from the wound please dr give me your advice
Thanks for your comment. I’m sorry to hear about your hip wound. It sounds as though there is a deep infection. Without knowing all of your details I can’t give you specific advice. It’s likely that you will need further surgery to try to clear the infection. It is sometimes necessary to remove the components of the hip replacement and then do further surgery several months later once the infection has been treated. I hope that your treatment is successful.
I'm three weeks post surgery. Walking (about one mile) without any aid. Around the house, largely without aid. Stairs, largely without aid. Sleeping comfortably on non op side. And quite comfortable on surgery side. Getting on with the home physio: I am tired sometimes, and a little stiff after resting. Is there any possibility that I'm overdoing things?
Sounds like you are doing very well at this stage of your recovery. Many patients feel more confident using a walking aid outdoors particularly when the conditions are hazardous. Tiredness and stiffness are common complaints. Lie down for an hour twice a day and don’t sit in a chair for more than half an hour at a time. Little but often is best.
I've got the secound hip they did both 18 mill longer than the left
I had my hip replaced 1 month ago. I'm walking around well without assistance but my lower leg and especially foot are still incredibly swollen like an engorged pig. Elevating my leg does nothing. Cannot even dream of getting a shoe on this enormous beast. Will this thing ever shrink down to normal size again?
Swelling is quite normal after THR. It usually goes away after 6-8 weeks. If you are worried about it, then contact your surgeon for advice.
I'm 65 and had first hip done 7/2019 everything went just fine had second hip done 10/2019 everything is not fine. I started getting sick to my stomach about a week after surgery and every 1 to 2 weeks after that I will get sick, the swelling in my second leg will not go down unless I lay with my feet up for 16-18 hrs a day and then it doesn't totally shrink to it's normal size. I was waiting to see if it would correct itself but its been 3 yrs now and it's not any better only the vomiting has slowed down, the PA who came in my room post op told me Dr. had trouble with my leg that's all she said she didn't elaborate I was just so relieved that the excruciating pain was gone I really wasn't to concerned about what she said and Dr. never said a word other than your doing fine he would say when he watched me walk with a cane now albeit my PCP told me I had the worse arthritis he has ever seen and a lot is in my back and my heart is not working like it should but other than that. lol!! also I agree getting any kind of pain meds that work is pretty much impossible.

I had deep peroneal nerve damage after hip replacement. So, weak dorsiflexion and sharp stabbing pain at the top of my fibula. Neurologist told me that the nerve grows back slowly to heal the section that was injured by compression. Wish I had known more about this complication. I might have chosen instead just to live with arthritis and focus on losing weight. The pain of neuropathy is much worse than the pain of arthritis!
I'm sorry to hear about your nerve injury. They are very uncommon but the effects are difficult to live with. Most of them recover fully, but it takes a long time. A compression injury to the sciatic nerve at the hip will take 2-3 years to recover. I had a patient who had a common peroneal nerve compression injury at the knee on the opposite side of his hip surgery. He was very thin and had a severely arthritic knee, which made the nerve lie quite superficially. The hip surgery is done with the patient lying on their side, and this is what caused the injury. I have always taken great care to place protective padding around vulnerable areas, but sometimes it's not enough. He made a full recovery but it took over a year. I hope that yours recovers.

Hi, I am 4 months post op from a total hip replacement. I have pain in my thigh and right buttock and cannot walk straight (waddle like a duck!). I cannot walk far at all without a crutch or stick for balance. Can you help please? Many thanks. Sbw
Sorry to hear about your problem. I strongly advise you to contact the hospital where you had the surgery. The symptoms that you’ve described could be due to complications related to the surgery or coming from your spine. Either way you need to be assessed by the surgical team. Hope this helps.

I had my right hip replaced in February, I still can't walk without Crutches! but gave Scoliosis of the lower spine, that causes unbearable pain, I have been waiting for many months to see someone in Ortheopeodic s , but still no appointment! I am taking Tapentadol Dicclofenac, and Paracetamol, none of which help the pain the Doctor says he can't do anymore. Which pain killers are more likely to have some effect while I wait? I gave asked about Fusion or Decompression! .

I haven't had pain since the first week after surgery, but now 3 weeks later I have cold feet, pain is coming back. How do I deal with nerve twitching that wakes me up at night. 6 weeks without use of muscles is umbareable but my doctors act like it's nothing.
BTW, why does UA-cam have a hard on for total hip replacement?. Neither total or replacement has been in any of my searches but this is all I get. I can't understand how a total hip replacement has such a shorter recovery than hip screws.

I just got hip replacement how do you know if your prosthesis is loose especially the acetabular cup?
If one of the components is loose, than the hip won't feel 'right'. Persistent pain on weigh bearing is a common symptom. Speak to your surgeon if you are worried about this.
I had a total hip replacement 12 months ago and the pain is worst the before surgery. On the scans and mri etc every looks fine. I’m at the stage now I am bed ridden. He put my pain down to signals over active because I was in pain for 7 years, I’m on 5 x 5 mg of Endone every day, 12 panadine forte every day, fentanyl 25 micrograms every 3 days. And my pain levels are extreme.
I am not sure what to do, get the leg removed or end my life.
I am very sorry to hear this. Have you thought about getting a second opinion from another hip surgeon? Having someone else assess you can be very helpful. I hope that it works out for you.
TheHipSurgeon recommended that you get a second opinion. NO! Get a bare minimum of 3 opinions. It's like anything else. I needed electrical work done, and after 4 estimates/quotes, ranging from $1,000 to over $4,000, I chose the person I liked the most, and he ended up charging me less than his original quote of $1,000- $900. Is hip surgery more important than some electrical work? You bet it is! Bottom line- get as many opinions as you can. And don't tell the surgeons what the previous surgeons recommended. Let them start from scratch.
Oh my goodness that's awful. I think I'm gonna try the shots instead. I'm scheduled for surgery end of this month.

I had my hip replacement 8 months ago and within the last couple months groin pain is increasing and I cannot lift my leg more than a few inches. I can lift my leg with my hands but not when muscles are engaged. No major pain when walking.

Thanks for your comment. From what you’ve described it is most likely to muscular, maybe psoas or recuts femoris. If I were your surgeon I’d want to examine you and arrange for imaging (X-ray and ultrasound scan). New pain in a previously well functioning hip replacement is unusual and needs to be assessed. Hope this helps.

Hey doctor. My uncle had hip surgery on his left side. He says the hip is fine but he is having really bad muscle spasms and causing his FEET AND ANKLES to hurt terribly bad. He cannot walk or put pressure on that left leg at all, I do not know what to do
He should ask his surgeon for advice.
I still can’t lift my leg after several years after surgery. I could not lift it after waking from the surgery. I now have horrid pain and burning in my thigh. They kept saying bursitis. Help!!
My advice to you is to seek a second opinion.

Thanks for your question. One would need to do a thorough clinical assessment involving the anaesthetist and other specialists as necessary. A careful risk assessment would then take place to see if it were safe to proceed. Surgery within 6 months of a stroke is generally not a good idea. Hope this helps.
My uncle got a hip replacement in athens the operation was successful but after 2 months when he stopped using the crutch after a while he was in a lot off pain.He come back to Athens to the hospital that they did the operation and they told him they can’t find what’s wrong everything seems to look as it supposed to be and it’s the first time they have seems that and they can’t find what’s wrong they even take his results to others hospitals and they said the same . Do you have any idea what it might be or what examination should he go for ? Thanks a lot I’m gonna be very grateful if you can help even with a small idea what he should do ….
Thanks for your comment. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle's hip. It's impossible to give an opinion about the cause of a problem without doing a clinical assessment and reviewing all of the images. There are so many causes of pain after surgery, including loosening of the components, a fracture or infection. In the absence of an obvious cause, sometimes it's best to rest the hip by using crutches for a few weeks, and then repeat all of the investigations to see if anything has changes. It can take up to 2 years to recover from hip surgery. Sometimes getting a second opinion can help. I'm sorry that I can't be more specific. I hope that he finds a solution soon.
@@Lathamhipsurgery all the examinations that he has done are good no infection no components loosening everything looks great but he has a lot of pain that’s why doctors in Greece said it’s the first time we are dealing with something like that and I’m really scared because they can’t find what it might be .I really appreciate your help and the effort you put to reply to me and thanks a lot!
@@redibarka9579 it must be very frustrating for all of you but especially your uncle. Pain in the hip can sometimes be caused by problems in the lumbar spine. It can be a long haul to get to the bottom of these problems.
I’m about to have a full hip replacement , but I have various discs gone in my spine and I’m worried that all the bashing about will hurt my spine more , can you give me any more info .
It’s unlikely that the surgery will damage the discs. Sometimes the change in posture after hip replacement will aggravate back pain temporarily. Best to discuss this with your surgeon.
my three year old hip replacement "didn't take". the screw fractured, the cap shifted and eroded and the ball shifted as well. since the surgeon had to remove the hip replacement before replacing it I have much more pain . I had a hip replacement 11 years ago and pain was minimal and was swift. it sucks I had to get hip replacement replaced and I am wondering if anyone knows about dealing with being charged again for surgery
Sorry to hear about your hip failure. Sadly these things happen for no obvious reason but it is unusual. I can’t offer advice on payment. You’d need to take that up with the hospital and your surgeon.

I got mine the 23 of may, now every step hurts my back and need crutches. Now my right hip is hurting ❤me badly. And is not even 2 months. Also have bad knees. Drunk driver did left me in shambles. Now have to endure so much. Is awful all I read here. Lucky ones are happy.
Sounds awful. I hope that you get better. It can take a couple of years though.

Thanks for your question. My advice is that you should get in touch with the hospital and ask for an assessment. It’s probably just your nerves and muscles recovering from the surgery.

I had a hip fracture repair operation after a traffic accident .. The fracture was in the back of the hip. The thigh bone was healthy, praise be to God .. I stayed in the hospital for 6 days before the operation. I did not feel pain during these six days as I felt after the operation and for a month and a half strong pain I was suffering from numbness and pain in the leg and foot after the operation and until now .. Now 3 and a half months have passed, and the numbness and pain in the leg and foot are still present, as well as pain at the site of the operation. I cannot sleep on my left and right side .. The numbness caused weakness in the leg muscle, but I can move the foot And feel them when you touch what caused that? Is this normal or not, and is it possible to disappear with the passage of time
Naif Al-Abdallah thanks for your comment. I’m sorry to hear about your problem. From the description of your symptoms, it sounds as though the sciatic nerve has been injured. This might have happened at the time of the injury or during the surgery. If it’s possible you should speak to the surgeon for advice.
The surgery went horribly wrong and left my leg 3” longer permanently. There’s no doctor that will touch it. Even the Mayo Clinic. I have no recourse, and can not walk without falling. It has essentially ruined my entire life. The surgeon called @ 6am asking for my X-rays, and asking if we should reschedule. He said no. Then ruined my life. At the age of 40. What do you recommend at this point?
Sorry to hear about this. As you have experienced, many surgeons are reluctant to take on such a difficult problem. There is no condition that surgery cannot make worse. Revision surgery to correct a leg length discrepancy is difficult and carries s high risk of complications. The Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC has a good reputation for dealing with complex problems. I recommend that you go there for an opinion.

Hello Dawn. Most of my patients stop using a crutch around about 6-8 weeks after surgery. Check with your surgeon as they might have wanted you to use a crutch for longer.

Thanks for your question. Swelling after hip surgery is very common. It can last for about 3 months. If it lasts longer than this then I would seek advice from your family doctor, as it might be caused by other factors such as a deep vein thrombosis or heart problems.

I discusseed that with the doctor and he said this happened for all patients and every thing will be ok with time and after usibg the messiness .

Thanks for your question. From the description you’ve given it sounds like there has been a problem with the sciatic nerve. This can be injured during surgery. It usually improves with time but ask the surgeon if he had any concerns about the nerve at the time of surgery.

I am a rheumatoid patient, both my hips have been affected but currently I have undergone one hip replacement. Its almost 2 months now but still there is enough swelling so as to making it bit difficult to bend leg at the knee and also there is lack of strength and mobility in the leg. I am doing regular exercises too. Can you tell how much maximum time can someone take to heal totally?/ How much time should I take?
It can take a year to 18 months to recover fully particularly when there is an underlying condition such as rheumatoid arthritis.

I spend a lot of time talking to patients about the risks and benefits of surgery so that they have all the information that they need to make an informed decision on the best treatment for them. Most of the time the surgery goes really well and the risk of serious complications is very low.

Thank you for your swift reply. After feeling pain for 24 hours which made me very nervous, I managed to control the pain by taking 3 prednisone tablets. But I scheduled an appointment with my surgeon on November 11 and I will give an update on the results, x ray ? Etc. for the others’ information.
@@DenBank1 thanks for the update. I wouldn’t recommend taking steroids for undiagnosed pain after surgery. This is because they can mask an infection that might be developing. It’s good to hear that you will have a review by your surgeon. Please let us know what happens.

Not true, heart attack rates are much higher, my mother got one after the surgery and is in a state of coma now due to going in cardiac arrest.
I'm sorry to hear that. The incidence of acute myocardial infarction after elective hip replacement surgery is less than 1%.
@@Lathamhipsurgery it wasn’t because myocardial infarction, it caused clots that reached her heart and caused artery blockages. It was CAD and severe left ventricular failure after the surgery, I am not sure if it was because of the implant or surgery. She had no history or heart disease, hypertension or blood pressure prior to that surgery.
@@rameeztariq5573 you said heart attack which in medical terms is a myocardial infarction. You should have stated initially that she had CAD. They obviously didn’t give her a good physical work up pre-op. Now did they? She had coronary artery disease and the surgeon still felt that she was well enough for surgery? AYKM? Coronary artery disease is a vascular injury bc of cholesterol plaque buildup in the arteries. She was too sick to undergo a surgery of this nature. Especially bc blood clots are a complication of hip surgery. It’s why I’m on an aspirin a day following my surgery. Don’t be blaming the hip replacement operation for your mothers condition. She gave herself CAD. Don’t be saying that she was the picture of health pre-op either. No signs of heart disease other than the clogged pipes? Clogged memories too obviously.

It is quite common to feel tired for several weeks after major surgery. If you are concerned about your symptoms then you should speak to your doctor.
