    FYI the pod on the underside of the nose is the Tomcat's TCS (Television Camera Set). This allowed the Tomcat crew to visually identify targets at up to 60 miles for large aircraft. It was also slaved to the radar so where one pointed the other pointed also. Late model Tomcats had both optical and infrared capability.

    I would also recommend using Blue Loctite on the screws that interface with metal, like the 2 that screw into the shaft on the Taeilerons. I am surprised they didn't use turnbuckles for the swing connection on the wings, it would make adjusting them while they are installed simple. Thumbs Up for some excellent tips and work arounds

    • @RCINFORMER

      Note: you cannot use loctite where it contacts plastic. It makes the plastic brittle and the plastic can fail easily

    I tried something different with the battery tray in my P51, as the battery was too large to get the straps around: Velcro.
    I put velcro on the battery, and velcro on the tray. Together with the cockpit pressing on the battery, it makes it fit really nicely, had no problems in the 30 flights so far

    My first flight on mine i used two pulse 5000's 65c rated batteries. If you use those 4000's i would put them a little further forward. Your an intelligent guy. Just to give you a heads up. I had my back battery right up against the back of the fuselage. The forward battery right smack dab in the middle of the bottom trey. I also took out the lower trey as well and laid them down parallel. Just like you are doing now. See you are a very intelligent dude. Great minds think a like. However i didnt do any carving.i just used a shorter piece of trey than you did. Put the 4000's forward. The big 5000's can go as far back as possible. No disrespect intended. You know your stuff brother. I hope im not offending you. Not my intention. You are one of my favs brother.

      I just felt she flew a bit better slightly on the nose heavy side. She gets this weird nose up attitude if she isnt a bit nose heavy. Like i said brother you are a pro at this stuff. I have learned most of what i know from you. Im still a noob. Only in my 4th year of flying. Like i said to you in one of your previous vids. You inspire me man. Nosey worked better for me with this sexy kitty cat. I am curious to see how she does on those 4000's. I have always wanted to know how she does on lighter packs. Flys way better cleaned up as well. I recommend full spam flaps. Not to mention it doesnt look right when the flaps are not full spam. Like i said man i look up to you brother. Super good pilot. You will figure it out super fast i just know it.

I have set up, through my transmitter the required conditions to allow tailerons when the wing is swept and ailerons when its forward. I have never before flown a model with tailerons. Can you advise me on how much movement/throw I need for the tailerons. I have checked many sources but can not find this information. Thank you in advance ................ Andrew Dunan

    Hi Rich, I'm in the process of following your set up recommendations. At present I'm having a hell of a time trying to program my Spektrum Dx9 and 9 Channel AS3X receiver to work in sinc with the F14's control board. Do you set the model type with single servos on aileron's, elevator and rudder? Currently when I move the ailerons to full deflection, the wings start to sweep. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    • @RCINFORMER
      @RCINFORMER  4 роки тому +1

      In the stock configuration, everything runs thru the control board. You only have one elevator lead & one aileron lead running from the control board into the receiver. If you are going to split the ailerons and do the full span flap setup, you must plug each aileron lead from each aileron servo & plug each servo into 2 separate AUX channels and mix them with the aileron function....

      @@RCINFORMER Thanks Rich... I think I'm trying to do too much in the initial set up (AS3X receiver, Spektrum App, gyro, wing sweep / flap mixes etc). I'm going to start again with a new air plane set up, and focus on getting the basics working as a first step (using the Freewing board). Then build out from there.

      @@richardwylie07 What I did with mine is I just set it up in the stock configuration and the 1st flight I didn't do any wing sweeping... just fly it like a normal airplane and get it trimmed in tuned. it's actually very easy to fly easier than most airplanes... Just fly it with the wings extended and it's a very fun airplane to fly:)

In stock and figuration what I have in a modify the battery bay 2 6000mah 100c High performance Zeee batteries fit perfect. The battery bay is still the same as from the factory the canopy fit perfect everything fits perfect there’s nothing popping up there’s no connection with the canopy to the fuselage issue I just wanted to share that maybe mine is different but I need to look at the specs on the batteries and see how long they are but there’s no problem with the canopy sitting perfect and flush.. and no the jet is not fully assembled yet but everything is sitting perfect held together perfect but it up to each other perfect with no issues I still wanna reinforce the fuselage to the main body with another carbon spar and extend that wood plate to the bottom battery just for more support but like I said the 6000 100c fit perfect.. if there is a reason why it has to be done with the longer or larger batteries to sit at the bottom then I guess I’ll do it but if I don’t have to make any cuts to modify it and it fits perfect I don’t see why I should make any changes but let me know what you think I would really appreciate that.. And I love what you do on your channel.. 😁

      Uncle Bob's RC it’s a fairly junior enlisted maintainer position. They give the pilots all the hand signals during startup and shutdown. Not a pilot....
      Also, as a real navy pilot myself, I can also confirm that they are called “stabilators” on the real jets.
