Awesome flight!!!!! Ward Carroll would be happy to watch this F14 video… Ward Carroll was a F14 RIO and has a UA-cam channel. Thanks Jon for sharing you F14 flight.
Scott and I took her back out today to get the full span flaps dialed in. I burned through four packs before finally getting it to a point where it would fly correctly. Now we're good to go! Video of the T&G flights coming soon. :)
Nice man! I havent had the balls yet to attempt a flat spin with mine. I felt like it would be too crazy to get out of, but you proved me wrong. I did the same goof with opposite spoiler to elevon. The whole flight had me thinking that the plane was acting weird for some reason until i saw what it was on the ground. Haha. I havent flown mine for a couple months though cause i havent narrowed down the left wing sudden drop when i do a negative g pushover. Even when i have alot of speed the left wing will always shoot towards the belly. Flys great all the rest of the time. Its my third favorite twin 80.
The thing about flat spins in EDFs is that unless they're so underpowered that they can barely get off the ground, you're unlikely to run into any issue with getting out of the spin. A spin isn't necessarily unrecoverable in radio control - but it is potentially deadly in full scale like the F-14's generally unrecoverable flat spin. There's no issue with engine flameout on EDFs so the power is there instantly when I ask for it. If you're ever concerned but still want to try it, get up to 400 ft and do one spin, then attempt to throttle out. I doubt you'll have any issues!
@@TwoBrosRC sweet. I will give it a try this saturday weekend when its supposedly to be almost 50 degrees. Thrust shouldnt be a problem with 12b fans and het 1860kv motors. Hopefully my buddy dave from model jet juggernaut can video it. Hes the only one that uploads to youtube. The rest of us are epically too lazy.haha
No brakes needed! Just gotta land better. I've got an upcoming video demonstrating it with full span flaps. It'll come in very slowly and won't roll out as far.
That day could be today. She flies pretty tame with wings extended and set up via my specs - but it's a bit more challenging with the wings swept. Not something I'd leave her in constantly for sure.
Hola, al plegar las alas tiene algún mecanismo de compensación del CG? , como desplazar la batería hacia atrás, porque he visto que plegaste las alas en vuelo muy lento y no metió el ala
The closest approximation is the AL37 with the wings extended. When the wings are swept, she flies unlike any other model I own. It's hard to describe. You'll have to try one and see. Thanks!
Hi Jon. As always, very cool. My RC flying unfortunately doesn’t have a runway for this type of plane. I’d like to ask you two questions unrelated to this particular video. I have an ix12 and a number of planes and Helis. 1) The latest update to the Airware software now causes my ix12 to produce an audio alert (discovered during bench testing) “Battery not charged for flying”. Is this alarm somehow aware of being airborne versus being on the ground? 2) There are frame rate settings located both in “Model Setup” and in “Forward Programming”. Why are frame rate settings located in both the transmitter and the receiver? What if they’re mismatched? There are a lot of undocumented features in my Spektrum ix12. I would really appreciate any insight you may have. Thx. Wolfgang
Thanks Wolfgang! The "not charged for flying" alert is found in your Smart Battery telemetry menu. You can disable it from there. It should only go off if a Smart pack is connected that isn't fully charged to 4.1+ volts. Frame rate settings in the transmitter determine how fast frames are transmitted. 11ms is faster than 22ms in your transmitter, but reduces the amount of channels that you can transmit. The receiver frame rate in Forward Programming determines how fast servos operate, IIRC. There's no issue with mismatching unless you're using pure analog servos which won't work well, or at all, with 11ms.
Thanks Jon, great information. One minor clarification, regarding the battery not charged for flying alert. I like the idea of that alarm. At some point however, a battery in flight will cross the 4.1 volt threshold. Would that not cause this alarm to trigger during flight?
@@wolfgangreiner744 Sorry about taking a bit of time to get back with you. YT caught you in the spam filter again. The "not charged for flying" warning only pops up when you first turn on a model. It won't activate in-flight - or at least it's not supposed to.
I happened to have headphones on while I watched this video. It was cool listening to the full scale plane fly over in stereo. I could also tell where you were standing. What kind of camera did you use?
Hey there, is this a standard Freewing F-14 twin 80mm? I would like to buy one, but wanted to know i need to do some upgrades for a beter performance? Greetings
@@TwoBrosRC The engine nozzle has to be in front of the planes nose in that case. The nose up angle has to be greater than 90° by definition to be called cobra. Maybe its caused by the cameraangle but it dosnt look like that to me :D
>a rapid vertical pitchup from level flight without initiating a climb, followed by a forward-pitch back to level flight. If properly performed, the plane maintains nearly straight flight throughout the maneuver. The plane does not roll or yaw in either direction. It's not a 120 degree AoA cobra but it's still a cobra. The full scale F-14 didn't do 120 degrees either.
I don't understand the obsession people have with cobra, on a 40 ton jet in the sky it looks cool but it serves no positive tacticle advantage, it's a great way to out manuevered and loose all your speed to not be able to escape.
Funny thing is that I actually reduced it significantly. Cut me a little slack lol, I barely upload videos with music. ;) Thanks for the feedback though!
@@TwoBrosRC lol sorry, I just really like the sound of the jet. Still liked the video a ton, keep it up. You're a huge help to a lot of us. Appreciate ya

Congrats on the maiden flights Jon I see "You feel the need...THE NEED FOR SPEED!"😁
Music is on point! Always blows my mind the scale of these things, huge!
I've been itching to get this music out of my head, so I'm glad other people found it fitting lol

Thanks! I normally prefer no music as well, but it's a Tomcat and ABII music is all I hear when I see it. Fits, IMO.

Excellent flight, now gonna go watch your set up video👊🏼👊🏼

What a great looking model. Nice flying.

It's 14 pounds with both 6s packs but definitely doesn't always feel heavy on the sticks. The slower it flies, the more apparent the weight is.
