Grande canzone, grande performance: un grande artista.
By far my favorite rendition of this song. Never seen him so enthusiastic
Agreed CH
One of his prettiest songs... and that was the fastest capo repositioning I ever seen :-)
Yes when he moved that capo it blew my mind
Me too
Real Artists and Musicians just flat out killing it. My Goodness, how can it get any better than this. James, Leland, Danny, Russ, Waddy!!!!! The best of the best of the best.
This song changes key 3 times. JT is a Badass singer and guitarist. Always had/has a great band and sounds phenomenal.
I don't even know what key changes are, but I agree that this song is phenomenal.
Jim T - And he slides his capo up to make those changes.
He uses that old nylon/elastic combo capo set just loose enough to slide easily. Heck he's faster moving that than moving an actual QuikChange brand capo! Good eye!
2x, actually.
HAPPY 74TH BIRTHDAY
JAMES TAYLOR
(MARCH 12, 2022)
I wouldn't trade James Taylor for 99% of all musicians today. =P
Except for John Legend, Charlie Puth (whom he collaborated with recently), and Taylor Swift (whose first name was named after him).
One of the best love songs ever sung ❤️
You know somebody has crazy talent when they can be flyin' high and still deliver a perfect performance.
This man went down in that bottomless pit of heroin addiction, and then he climbed back up. Amazing.
And he has the strength and courage to say "I wasn't a fit husband. And I wasn't a fit father."
Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar Guitar
Leland Sklar Bass
Russ Kunkel Drums
Waddy Wachtel Guitar
Don Grolnick - Keyboards
David Sanborn - Saxophone
Rick Marotta - Percussion
David Lasley - Background Vocals
Arnold McCuller - Background Vocals
Side note Russ Kunkel played drums for Jackson Browne that concert as well
I think it's one of the best singers of pop music.
Great James!
I love James Taylor.. I'm only 12 but i think its so fun when my Dad plays it in the car! Also, they always play it at Phillies games and it makes me smile:)
That's sweet. Bless you
Jeez, what capo moves like that (0:58) and stays in tune?!?
A high school graduate of '79. God, I Loved JT back then. Still as hip today. The man has a great life story. He could have wasted it away, but he chose life. Wonderful musician.
also a grad of 79---- and this is the perfect tempo for this song
amazing that a smackhead could make such sweet music
where do i begin? no lip-synching, no dance moves, no fancy choreography, not very good-looking band..... why is this SO DAMN COOL????? cause this is one majorly talented band (check the drummer and listen to the bass line) and james wrote one helluva clever lyric. then he sings it flawlessly live, perfect timing and pitch. no auto-tune here hahaHAAAA give me a break. man i miss talented artists. awesome james, awesome.
Well, the next song was "Mockingbird" and he and Carly danced. He did the Carolina Shag, she just kinda tried to follow along.
@@davidwesson9277
Lordy, I had no idea he could shag!!! Here on southeast coast it’s a religion!!!
@@frankiebutler2894 He grew up in Chapel Hill. That's how he came to write "Carolina in My Mind". I've lived in the South for nearly 40 years, and yes, it sure is!
I was there, volunteering for no nukes/ muse concerts from the beginning to the end. Loooong days! So many people. Got arrested at the blockades three times in one day! Goddess bless my affinity group. ❤️
James and Carly , ( her in that crazy jumpsuit!)dancing to How Sweet It Is, during the bridge, no doubt James trying to ease her past her stage fright.....a really beautiful thing. And time. My heart was so full. I lost my treasured no nukes staff t-shirt years ago during one of my many moves. Have not been able to replace it so if anybody knows where to find one give me a shout out..
Amazing talent, face, smile & hands
He is so talented and has so much charisma
Waddy Wachtel on lead guitar here. And the incomparable Leland Sklar as he was JT's resident bassist.
Love this song. Its so damn happy.
Just casually slides the capo up the neck when the key changes without missing a beat. JT can play. I also never realized Waddy played with him. Incredible.
58 seconds in capo switching key into F#. bad ass!
That ain't easy really!
Leland Sklar.... Rock on!
The man is a true gem!
Waddy in the house, ALWAYS!
JT's Acoustic guitar work here is phenomenal...
This is magic 💯
This is a great song and I like this one just as much or better than the live version at the Beacon Theater.
Such epic hair. Just loved this show.
I remember all the back to age four and five loving these guys along with Dolly and Kenny Rogers. And of coarse Stevie wonder.
Classic!
This is a good song...he has a good voice 👌.
What a band that is . The ubiquitous Lee Sklar and Russ
The section man. That was the sound. He's alright but that sound, that was the section dude.
For me, THIS was the showstopper in the movie. I liked Bruce, too.
Love the capo shift!!
❤❤❤❤❤
The Times they are achanging by these same artists should be heard again!!!!!!
Attended No Nukes concerts 👍
The Section tearing shit the fuck up. Sklar, Waddy and dem boyz...
...and Kunkel
As good a band as you could put together...
And also Kootch. Can't forget him.
clasico !
Man James used to be so metal.
magical uplifting tune by JT at his peak, and to think the Dixie Chicks had the nerve to even CONSIDER doing covers of his songs
Lol @ Jackson Browne demanding JT tickets
HYsterical.
Oh shoots! I forgot, it wasn't how sweet it is; it was Mockingbird! My bad.
I love how he says "And I thank my lucky stars that you are who you are and not just another LOVELY LADY sent down to break my heart" instead of "another slutty cold hearted manipulative bitch"
Omg his eyes are glowing. U know what that means
James is higher than a kite
I'm 54 and randomly searched for this video. 20 seconds in my panties flew off which is weird as I don't typically wear underwear at night. Horrific thought on both accounts, I know...
👍
I know James Taylor was dropping so many panties with this tune lol My God he has soul!
get down with yo 360 spin, stringbean. I could see Waddy's tramp stamp I think. na na na now now no no. Happy Birthday Kootch!
do they know that the venue of this concert (madison square garden) was ran by nuclear power? 😅😢
What's going with the guitarist on the right?
hahabass That’s Waddy Wachtel. He’s a legendary lead guitarist and session player, but he also was drinking, etc, a lot by the late 70s. JT was drinking heavily too, and Kootch (the other guitarist) was deep into the coke.
@@DannyKavka James was feeling no pain when he was on stage. His eyes, hahahahaha
He did no wrong that day
cjellwood , well he missed his cue on taking it to the streets, but John Hall from Orleans saved him, but yes he was great! Lol
real musicians can play musical instrument...no manufactured tunes here..
No dislikes! : D
Lee Sklar brought me here
💯🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🥰👏👏👏👏👏🗽
2:34 Rick Wright after quitting Floyd and throwing away his keyboards
Fukushima
phillies!!!!!!
HE LOOKS LIKE JOAQUIN PHEONIX
He’s higher than a kite😑
I love me some James Taylor! But not this particular performance.. I know it's live and you can forget your lyrics or place ..I'm a vocalist, I know it happens, but he's truly all over the place.. pitchy and off key a few times.. I'm one of his biggest fans and I've seen him more times than I can count live... I've just never seen him perform like this.. and what's with his eyes? I still love me some James Taylor though! 😍😍
Um....can you not see that he was PUI? (playing while intoxicated). He was flyin' high- and still sounds great.
