The 'bong hit transplant' joke is an idea you get in the shower, and then spend time honing it and workshopping it into a skit. He delivers it like he came up with it on the spot.
"Bong hit transplant" legit reminds me of the "Jerk Store" comment from Seinfeld. It's such a perfect anti-joke, it does a 180 into being funny.

I love that every time he reaches what he assumes to be a punchline, the audience never knows how to react, so there's a pause before everyone makes different reactions

It is honestly heartwarming to see Tom still doing comedy sets after all these years. Its like seeing one of those babies that are born with no skin miraculously living to adulthood. A sense of pity, yes, but also a sense of respect and fascination as to how they lived for so long in this world.

Look up Beige Frequencys video on him, it's really long but very detailed@@San-li9ml In short, brendan schaub used to be amongst other things a MMA fighter, but according to himself (which is questionable), he stopped fighting in order to pursue his dream of becoming a comedian and to not get as much CTE. The thing is, he is arguably a bad comedian, but that doesn't hold him back, as he is good friends with Joe Rogan who enabled him to quickly get a special, eventhough it has horrible ratings. Next to that he has many negative sides to his personality, how he treats people and so on.

Tom is funny because he does these things with this mundane confidence and genuine charisma, you can’t help but be entertained by it.
Even if it the joke doesn’t make a lick of sense to you, the f*cking idea alone that there is some punch line Tom believes in is enough for you to also believe in the joke.
Some people might be laughing at him, but in some weird way you laugh with him more than anything.
It’s amusing how his delivery and cadence isn’t even really that terrible so your brain is primed to expect a real joke but then his joke writing is just so baffling and disconnected you are just confused by what happened

Part of it was Carlin. I fucking love Carlin but it seems like so many people following tried to copy him without actually getting what he was doing, not really getting the whole "comedy as a medium", so they go with "medium uses comedy". It ruins it.

Toms long running GPS bit is one of my favorites. It came out when gps was a more relevant term, and in a way the redundancy of gps compliments his awkward/nonsensical comedy style perfectly.
A must see though is CT reacting to his birthday gift from his parents that turned out to be a grave plot right next to theirs 🤣🤣

Tom being Tom, when I first heard that bit a couple of years ago, I actually thought it was new. I never doubted for a second that in the age of smart phones, he would want a GPS for his birthday.
The Senior Citizens crossing one is actually pretty funny, but it requires quite a bit of prior knowledge about driving, insurance, and hitting a deer.

No. The joke was that seniors do more damage than deer because when a deer jumps out in front of you you hit the brake, but when a senior is in front of him, he hits the other pedal.

What's funny is that Nick Mullen totally called this. In one of the Cumtown episodes he talks about how the whole "ironic comedy" thing is huge now and Tom could be making a ton of money
He called it even better than you’re saying actually, because what Nick said was that in order to make all of that money Tom would have to at least pretend he was trying to be ironically unfunny. This, unfortunately, is a thing that Tom is incapable of. Tom takes himself and his horrible jokes, very very seriously, and saying that they were constructed purposely to not be funny is completely anathema to him.
This whole essay is literally just regurgitating everything Nick has already said about Tom in the podcast. This guy clearly just listens to cumtown and decided to just lift all of that to make this shit video

The senior citizens doing less damage to your car than deer joke was kind of unironically funny. Every other joke Tom told in this video just made me go, "Wut?"

Tom Myers' joke telling style reminds me of my "comedian impression" I did in high school a couple times, where I imitated a bad TV comedian and desperately tried to be funny in that meta sort of way.
"So what's the deal with FORKS these days? You know, you've got the knives and spoons, that's not so bad; then you got the sporks, don't know what the hell they're doing; but the FORKS, why do they have to be so FORKY?"

That eldery crossing joke SHOULD be funny, the premise is perfect. I’m actually baffled by it. Is it the delivery? I’ve tried playing it out mentally to see if I can make it funny. It has all the ingredients, but they are arranged in a way that suspends all humor. It’s like some sort of exquisite chemical formula that’s perfectly inert when it shouldn’t be.
I think that's the clear intention, same with the Hillary Clinton joke. There's an obvious joke and he butchers the delivery and set up, I am certain it's intentionally bad so he can stand out. I feel like this video misses the mark as a lot of the jokes clearly make sense, and he is clearly fucking up the delivery on purpose.

Tom Meyers seems like a perfect live-action Adult Swim character from the mid to late 2000s when awkwardness from shows like The Office was really popular. Anti-comedy and absurdist humor definitely has its audience. I've also seen Tom Myers style characters before with that level of awkward confidence cause he's basically Steve Buscemi doing a bit.

No. But it was never popular with anyone until all of a sudden in like, 2015, everybody wanted to pretend like they were huge fans of Galaxy Quest like it was this cult classic even though it was a box office flop and no one ever talked about it before now. Same with Sky High and a lot of obscure Tim Allen movies.
The Master of Disguise was equally obscure until a few years ago. I only remember it because the Turtle Club scene was an inside joke/meme between me and my friends. But no one else had ever seen the movie until like two years ago.
