I'm 60 and went from a VTX 1800 to a CTX 700 DCT. I'm blown away how damn nice this CTX is. It will be my last bike. Buy one. You wont be disappointed.
I've had a CTX700n manual transmission for a few years. When I got it, it took a few days to get used to the motor, handling and feet forward position. After that, it became tons of fun to ride and to corner and curve in the twisty's. Don't be afraid to lean it! Sometimes I'm afraid I'll lean too much and I will lose it in a corner or curve. I'll do gravel roads with no problem (except for the fact I don't like to chip up the paint). That said, I am used to gravel as I still dirt bike on my Honda crf250f. Used to own a Ninja, Yamaha Maxim when was younger, I'm 54 now. I agree that an issue with the feet forward position is that you can not really use your legs to help absorb bumps in the road. To help with that I put a removal backrest on my CTX, which made a huge difference.
I've had a number of Honda's including a CBR 1000 and a 76 Super Sport 400 /4 that I bought new; loved them all. Anyway my 2016 CTX 700 will hit 100 mph but that is beyond it's comfort. I have no complaints though and am very happy with it for most rides. I would not want to take it cross country even with my Corbin seat and backrest.
I just got one about a month ago. My last bike was a 750 Shadow. These bikes are definitely a little quicker, they have about 50 hp. You left a little in the top speed run, I easily got mine to 100mph and I'm sure it could do more. I have the one with the full fairing so idk how much that matters. Anyway nice bike and good video.
Nice review. Got my 2015 CTX700 DCT and am teaching myself how to ride. Rides good, decent power, and fairly comfortable. May get another in the future, I also own a V65 Magna I will ride when I finally get my chops right. V-Max is a great mount too. I want one of those.
the shadows are less comfortable then this. my brother had the shadow and my bike was much more comfortable. this was a good bike ill be picking up another one soon to add some variety to my collection. nice review 👍
I have the same exact bike and got mine to 103 by revving out 5th gear more before shifting to 6th and mine also had a windshield. I think there was a little more left in it but I thought I saw a cop up the road. Just got up to 108 the other day on the highway. I think if I got in to a tuck I could get it to 110.
Man I learned decades ago to leave that front brake alone except in emergency! I bought a CYX 700 2014 just like yours last April with 7000 miles on it and paid 2900. I get 60 to 70 mpg according to how much ass I’m hauling and how much hauling ass I’m doing. 100 is top end, rides double at 80-85 without a problem
Can I ask how much you weighed when you did this video? Saw another one with a dude that weighed 209lbs get up to 105mph on the highway. Also, it kinda looks like you could have spooled it up a bit more in 5th before you shifted to 6th. Your RPMs are only at 6,000 when you shift out of 5th, and only at about 4,750 when you get into 6th. Maybe with more time/road, if you shift from 5th to 6th at like 7,000 rpm, you can get higher?
Wow all i see when i look at that bike is where they cut cost to produce it! I agree with the chain thing i ride way to much to keep greasing the chain and changing chains and sprockets
90mph - it's quite slow. My Honda 500 CBF can do 180km/h and that's around 110mph. This CTX 700 is 700cc, and has similar hp to my Honda. Should go at least 100mph.

I'm on my second one!!! Reliability and fuel economy.
@@marcbee1234 I just bought my second one today, this one is a 2018 CTX D DCT Can't wait to get it into the garage.
Nice bike. The CTX700 is roughly 50 HP with good low-end torque. I have the DCT version. Very reliable and comfortable to ride.
You just made my day with this video, just got the 2014, new to riding and now so excited to ride it once I'm more comfortable after some practice.
Get some practice in yet ?

Got my wife the 700 with DCT. I’ve had it up to 110... In sport mode! They are bad ass little bikes! Ride safe!
I’m looking to get the ctx 700 dct, but I’m 6’5” you got it over 100mph??? How tall are you?
@@marcusmarshall1735 I’m 5’ 11” and weigh 280 lbs. got it up to 106 mph. Use sport mode and stay in 5th!
I sold my suzuki C50 for a ctx. The c50 was nice but lacked a 6th gear.. ctx rides nice on highway

A v65 as a first bike ? lol you alive still ?
That part you pulled out goes under the saddle to prevent scraping on the actual paint.
Thank you, will be picking up a used one this week. Greetings from Dubai
Cool I just did a road trip and got 68mpg avg

I have one just like his, 100 was my top end, pulls double at 85 no problem I haven’t tried to go any faster with the wife on the back
3k is a steal lol 👍
You don't have to guess what the buttons do, download the user's manual. Great bike, enjoy your ride
@Mad Matt's What exhaust is this? Sounds great!
I thought all the CTX700's came with a gear indicator? Especially the manuals. I guess not though looking at this video. So sad.
I got me a CTX 700 as well, 2014. Little cherry bud runs great! GOTTA have that red color on it. Cheers!
I just bought one exactly like this one
Found a '14 manual model w/ 5k miles for $4k. Get it?
I just bought this EXACT bike $3300 10K miles 10 minutes ago
It's a two cylinder cruiser. Not a
ZZ14R Ninja !
Those forward pegs likely equal back killer for me.

I’m 210 with boots on, mine is exactly the same as this one and I topped out at 100
there's a charge port in my 2014. there's also two buttons, one on each side of the dash screen

How often are you suppose to grease the chain
I have a CTX700E Manual and I've had it up to 110 racing my buddies Ninja 400. Your top speed seems low haha
I got a 2015 dct that goes up to 113 mph
Your oil pressure light is not working, very important to replace!

for a cruising bike or putting around town, fine. But man 100Mph top speed is SLOWWWWW
I've got mine up to 102 😬
Me sirvio el video !!
90 is about what my CB500F would do max. So I heard.
I had a 73 CB 500 4 back in 73 and I thought it was faster than that….. seems like it would top out over 110 but I did have 4 into 1 headers on it
Does it wheelie?
It would need to be at a near dead stop and the clutch would need dropped
How many miles when u bought 4 $3k?
I was fortunate enough to get a 2014 with 500 miles for 2800 from a dealership in texas... Must have been a demo it was brand new looking
@@kristopherbell7158 that’s a crazy steal
I bought one just like this with 7000 miles last April for 2900. … it did need tires though
A Cone Engineering reverse cone will make ur bike much faster.
Well that sucks. 90mph :(
102
‘Me too
Shaft you ll lose 30% power
Be HARD not to redline
It has a limiter that I hit in first gear occasionally
these are 51hp
Rubber pad goes under the seat.
