I just wanted to thank you for this video. I know it's 7 years old but it's quite possibly the only one with a hands-on review of this particular sommelier knife! Thank you Sir!
Nice as always, Stefan. I know this is an old video, but I just happen to be shopping these knives right now and, lo and behold, your video popped up in the search. Just when you think you have all the knives you'll ever need, along comes another. Cheers.
Beautiful presentation as usual and beautiful wine bottle opener:) Thanks for bringing the finer style of knives and tools to us! I like those handle scales.
That's a sign of a true romantic -- or food lover. I was gifted an opener not unlike the Laguiole en Aubrac as gift for being in a groom's man in my sister's wedding ten years ago and I have been using it ever since. I can't imagine going without such a tool now.
Great review, as always. When I saw this knife/wine bottle opener, I thought it was pretty funky looking, and I didn't understand the practical application of using it. However, when you did the demonstration with the wine bottle at the end of the video, it all made sense as to how the features work together. Good job, and I look forward to seeing more of your knife reviews in the future.
The length of corkscrew is very important when opening old French wines. As the corks are long and become more decayed at the base you need a screw that almost penetrates the base, otherwise the cork will break where decay has started.
Nice video although there are two little but very important additions I'd like to make: 1. Turning the wine while using the foil cutter might harm the quality wine. It is recommanded to turn the foil cutter instead. 2. Place the spindle in the middle of the cork. 3. Don't push the spindle through the cork bottom and don't shock the wine with a plopp. Enjoy!
My mom got an olive wood opener as a gift. I love using it. I didn't know the co. who made it until I seen your reviews but within 10 seconds of handling and looking at it I knew it was an ordinary wine opener. The craftsmanship, the decorations. She asked me if I wanted it but I told her "no, I like it being here and using it for you." Hers came with a dark green leather pouch. Assuming yours did also, what kind of pouch did you get? Thank you.
Great vid. My cousin has become a sommelier...where did you say one could get that lovely piece of art? I think it would make a wonderous gift. Thanks. Craig
Another great review. I have to admit that most of the time I prefer a cool beer over a glas of wine. But every once in a while me and my wife have glas of wine together. To open the bottle we use one of those fancy "easy-to-use" bottle-openers (don't know the exact name). But a beautiful sommelier knife like this one takes the celebration of opening a bottle of wine to another level. Maybe I have to drink more wine to have a reason to get a nice piece like this one. :-)
Got one of those, but not a Laguiole though, it´s a "noname" item. Didnt know that there was "Handmade" Sommelier Knives. Thank You for this great video review!
Forgot to add, I keep one in my glove box so I'm never forced to open a bottle with my Swiss, like some kind of savage. ;) As always, I appreciate the reviews.
nice tool for sure...I have one that was awarded to my wife from her company that's pretty nice, but not quite that nice....is important though, and depending on the day-week-month can be considered a true 'survival' knife :)
An inexpensive one. Takes up no space and both the wine and beer opening functions have come in handy more than once at barbecues, and impromptu picnics, and fishing trips, and the like. You might be surprised at how many people here Stateside don't have a decent wine opener of any sort. I figure if I need something one time, and having it handy isn't a burden, why not keep it handy for the next time? Like being a "prepper", but with less freeze-dried food and more joie de vivre. =)
Meh, my Glock78 does the same job (at least when it comes to sparkling wine and beer) ^^. Video on that coming up. In all honesty though, a very nice item. Would make an excellent gift for someone, I'm sure.
Do you expect me to know all international distributors of all the knife brands I present on my UA-cam channel? Please contact Laguiole en Aubrac directly.
Ok I’m horrible at wine service and I am trying to watch videos on how to properly open a wine bottle for customers & every single video I’ve found, the wine is opened on a table…🫤 in most fine dining restaurants, the wine is always held while opened, if I could sit it on a table I’d have zero issues 😅 does anyone out there in the interwebs land have any advice??? Plz help!
Thank you, Stefan. That demonstration at the end was everything 🙌🏽
Thanks for watching!

Thank you. Both for the demonstration and the delightful rendition of the Goldbergs by Ms. Ishizaka.
Thanks for watching!
Nice as always, Stefan. I know this is an old video, but I just happen to be shopping these knives right now and, lo and behold, your video popped up in the search. Just when you think you have all the knives you'll ever need, along comes another. Cheers.
Haha! I know exactly what you are talking about.
Beautiful presentation as usual and beautiful wine bottle opener:) Thanks for bringing the finer style of knives and tools to us! I like those handle scales.
You are the best reviewer of knives out there. Thank you for your time and effort. God bless.

You have a very good eye for details, Andrew! Yes, I always care about those little details. Thanks for watching!

Stephan :-)
Dear Stefan,
your sommelier from LAGUIOLE EN AUBRAC is a beauty !!! and you video is as usual EXCELLENT.
I love your style of videos they all look very professional and prepared for nice job

Immer noch die alten Schnorrer, die Ossis! LOL - Herzlichen Dank für Deine lieben Worte, Tito!
Great video, Stefan.
I love the wine-colored font at the end. It's those little details that help make your vids better than most people's.
Nice video although there are two little but very important additions I'd like to make:
1. Turning the wine while using the foil cutter might harm the quality wine. It is recommanded to turn the foil cutter instead.
2. Place the spindle in the middle of the cork.
3. Don't push the spindle through the cork bottom and don't shock the wine with a plopp.
Enjoy!

I agree with you on these points. One other is that the bottle should not touch the table while being opened.
Also don't talk too loudly to prevent the wine from waking up. groggy wine is the worst! ugh!
I don't think the goal of this video was to be educational. It's an advertisement for that $150 screw.
When opening a bottle of wine it's not supposed to touch the table until everyone has been served
Its suppose to be off centre with the screw
Thanks for another fun review, Stefan.
Your reviews are ever a pleasure to watch, cheers.
Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
Thank you very much for your kind words!
You cut the foil above the gollete of the bottle - wrong

Thanks for the compliment!
Haha, I noticed it the second time I watched. Beautiful, keep them coming.
Stefan your reviews are superb...Bravo sir.
Excellent review, as always...but what was the wine?
Great vid.
My cousin has become a sommelier...where did you say one could get that lovely piece of art?
I think it would make a wonderous gift.
Thanks.
Craig
You keep a sommelier knife in your glove box? Wow!
Thank you! Yes, a lot of work is done before I actually turn on the camera.
You're awesome as usual. Missed your work. Best wishes and thanks for the review. Thumbs up!
Thank you very much, my friend!
Mine didn't come in a pouch, it came in the nice black presentation box that you can see in the video.

this is my choice style for slaying corks
Got one of those, but not a Laguiole though, it´s a "noname" item.
Didnt know that there was "Handmade" Sommelier Knives.
Thank You for this great video review!
Cheers Stefan!
Thank you very much!
Thank you! It was a bottle of a rather inexpensive Bordeaux wine (Château Chenu-Lafitte).
Let me hug you, brother! You are a true gentleman prepper! ;-)
Forgot to add, I keep one in my glove box so I'm never forced to open a bottle with my Swiss, like some kind of savage. ;)
As always, I appreciate the reviews.
Vielen Dank! Liebe Grüße nach Spanien!
great quality video as always :)
Style. WOW
Cheers!
Can you confirm where to purchase an actual Laguiole en Aubrac knife in L'Aveyron? I cannot find the actual location of their shop. Thanks!
cool, now thats what I call a wine bottle opener...
nice tool for sure...I have one that was awarded to my wife from her company that's pretty nice, but not quite that nice....is important though, and depending on the day-week-month can be considered a true 'survival' knife :)
How do I open a bottle of wine? With a smile.
What is the background music? please reply. Thank you --Harold
Just watch the video to the very end.
Thanks for watching!
YESSSS I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO USE THIS THING! :D I had lost my easier bottle opener, I can get drunk now. :')

Tolle Review.
I've always known these tools as a "wine service." As distinguished from a mere "corkscrew."
Well, some wines don't deserve a better treatment. ;-)
Balisongs or flipping knives are leagel in Germany or not?
i open my wine with the corkscrew on a SAK ...or i just open the box...and take the bag out..cause im cheap like that
You opened the wine incorrectly lol.

*not an ordinary
Oh man. If only they had used some nice heavy death metal music when the guy was uncorking the wine. This video would've been perfect. ;-)
😍 where and how to order that somelier knife? I'm from the Philippines.
