Milwaukee didn't invent the concept but their version elevated the design into the stratosphere. That is what almost everyone carries and what everyone now copies. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. But competition is good for everyone both in design and price. Bring it.
Exactly. Now Milwaukee will have to drop the price of the Fastback under the price of the Dewalt. Let them worry about any possible patent infringement. Not my problem.
I’ve used kobalt full size flip open black razor knife for years. Thinnest one I’ve found. I really like it. I will be buying these Dewalts now. 😊 gotta try them all.
Milwaukee didn't elevate anything. Plunge lock (button lock) pocket knives have been around for decades in far superior forms. The fastback Is still just a cheap knife that isn't even close to the level quality of actual knife companies products.
As a pocket knife hoarder, for utility these look well made especially for the price point. Cheapest knives I buy are $60+ lol. The thicker handle for most on the blade storage model is a con for constant daily carry, but that's why the other model exists. The fatter one with storage is more a heavy use guy, and the fatter handle actually gives better, more reliable grip on a job site.
When he first pulled out the pocket knife I said to myself why would anyone buy a Dewalt (or any tool brand for that matter) pocket knife when they could get a better one from an exclusive knife manufacturer? But then when he said $15 I said well that’s why. I expected it to be closer to $60 but for $15 I’d get that to leave in my tool bag/box/belt.
@@billsedutto8824 exactly my thought. The drop point or tanto might be a good work knife for me, no big deal if I lose it or break it trying to fix something on my truck. Or perhaps losing it inside one of my ahole customers 😂
As a fellow knife bro, I couldn’t help but crack up laughing when he was using that flipper tab over & over and said “super smooth action” and it wasn’t even opening all the way. 😂

I have the old version of the Dewalt flip utility knife and it's worn out so just in time for a replacement. I like the button action as well as the thinness of the one without the blade storage. and pricing seems about the same so even better.
Years ago I was looking at a pocket knife that the salesmen handed me to try. I realized I had slightly cut myself but did not even feel it. I bought that knife. Though these days I go for replaceable blade knives. That way I'm free to abuse the hell out of the blade without remorse.
Bought mine today. The basic utility model. I switched the pocket clip to the opposite side but even though I tightened it down the clip was loose. I used my Dremel with ball end burr took it down where the screw goes in so when tightened the screw pressed tight against the clip. Then , on the other side there is a slot that appears to be for a lanyard but there is a screw in serving no purpose. So I just put a little pressure on that screw and it popped out. Then I put in a nice short lanyard. Nice 👍
The button lock is a Benchmade design. When the patent was up, everyone stole the idea. Saying DeWalt is copying Milwaukee when Milwaukee is just a copy... just seems silly.
I have one of those utility knives because sometimes I have to assemble boxes all day long and well it doesn't exactly lock in place and can swing back it's so easy to open and I find it very comfortable
next time you do a knife review start with no band aides then end with most of your fingers in band aids. and a first aid kit. it will be hilarious and nice like.
Usually the paper test for the blade is done from slicing from the outside to the inside. stabing the paper and ripping through it does little to show the quality of the factory edge. Because your technically poking the paper and causing it to rip before the edge is cutting. Kind of bypassing the test all together
Your yard is looking pretty good. BECAUSE YOU STOLE IT! I had grass in my yard first. Then when other people got grass I had to start mowing it. People stole that. Then i used fertilizer and guess what….
Let's not kid ourselves. Anyone can tell this is DeWalt's response to the fastback. Honestly, I like it better. I just bought the one that holds extra blades. I'm going to buy the thinner version later because I collect ones I think are interesting. I didn't like how the fastback didn't quite fit my hand. I bought one and then never used it. Update: I'm going to have to return it because it exposes more than half the blade. I don't know what kind of psychopath made that decision but if i flip the blade around I should have a fresh cutting surface. I'm legitimately very upset. I thought I found the perfect knife.
As a DeWALT guy I’m disappointed! There’s a handful of Milwaukee tools I use because DeWALT doesn’t have equivalent ones. I can’t believe they didn’t include a driver bit. If Klein put a driver on there’s DeWALT should have too. I am happy I received my DeWALT construction jacks today
Nice knife, i would like to own one for work, but the tape notch holder on my milwaukee fast back takes the cake. It really makes ripping stuff comfortable. I can't believe dewalt missed out on it. I mean, it's really dumb not to put one on a cool looking knife
That's not a bad price for the knives. I am mostly anti 'tool brand' knives because you are usually just paying extra for the logo and could get a better knife cheaper. Appreciate the decision to avoid the multitooling of a utility knife and the option for blade storage or not.
Bought the blade storage version the same day I got the email from Dewalt . The blade release sold me , much easier than Milwaukee and you didn’t show that the blade insert is just insert in slot and push in no pushing a button or pulling on a lever . I had been using the fast back for 10 years .
Talk about copying. What I would like DeWalt to make is the small right angle battery powered die grinder Milwaukee makes. I use 2” Rolox disks a lot. A right angle grinder works well. But they’re too slow and too big and heavy. I ended up buying the Harbor Freight Warrior $15 right angle grinder (on sale for $9.99). It’s smaller and lighter and the weaker motor is fine for those. I don’t like the thumb trigger with the strong spring. The Milwaukee grinder is perfect. But I really don’t want to spend over $400 for a tool, charger and batteries for that one purpose, because, really, I have no other use for it. If DeWalt came out with one I would buy it.
$14.97 for that first one? Cheap Gas-station knife that likely costs 1/3 as much without the Dewalt logo on it. Reminds me of the cheap DeWalt multi-tool you can buy. (No, not THAT multi-tool that is battery-powered. That one is great. The other one.) Will never understand why DeWalt does this. Yes, we all know that when it comes to the most common three among the Pros, you have Makita, Milwaukee, and the higher-end DeWalt tools. The lower-end ones?.... Okay, some of them are quite good. Still worth buying. But these knives are below the lower-end DeWalt models. Not worth it unless you want to include an "official" DeWalt knife in a Photo-shoot featuring your latest, quality, DeWalt power-tool purchase.
Clint I’m getting a little off subject but I wanted to ask you if you heard that the Milwaukee fuel gen4 1/4’’ impact is breaking down. The belt clip on the blade end was about to be a deal breaker for me. Since it is reversible, I like it. Makes no sense to me to have the clip on the blade end. You have to pull the knife, then turn it over to use it. With the clip on the haft end, it comes out ready to use.

Lol most American, brands aren't made her anymore. Stupid labor laws don't allow the greedy bastards to open up sweat shops here so they make almost everything elsewhere where those pesky labor laws and child labor laws won't get in their greedy ass way.

I'm not mad about the knives, in fact I think they're neat. I'm mad DeWalt is getting its teeth kicked in by Milwaukee and Milwaukee Jr. (Ryobi) in the innovation department
Where can I buy the kit as shown????
Google
I just carry a quality knife. I leave the razor cutter in the tool box but i can see where this would be handy
The big question is, where are they made? An AMERICAN Brand name should be made in the good old USA...:)
Lol most American, brands aren't made her anymore. Stupid labor laws don't allow the greedy bastards to open up sweat shops here so they make almost everything elsewhere where those pesky labor laws and child labor laws won't get in their greedy ass way.
The utility knives look good but for $15 the tanto and drop point have to be junk. I don't know why dewalt have changed to making junk now.
I'm angry as hell. Not about this but still
Tool brands should stick to tools and knife brands should stick to knives.
Shit. Dewalt's site lists the knives as "Stainless". If they don't tell you what type of steel it's garbage. Go buy a Kershaw if you don't want to break the bank.
I have a fastback with a screwdriver and i love it. These are ok but i need to have the screwdriver
Not a very subtle colourway. That yellow makes the knives look like toys. I know they ain't. But that yellow......
Nice video! Like these. Have a good day!😊
Dewalt has had golding utility knives for a long time.
Like at least 10 years. I have o e that I bought ten years ago. Doesn't have the same handle as that one, though.
Sad they did not copy the blade storage of fastback 1505 in handle scale. I want a thin one with one extra blade.
Engaging comment
Haha, thanks brother
@@ToolReviewZone it's the bare minimum lol
Where can you buy them
I do have the Mil-waka-I-A fastbacks, but them Dee-Walts are real nass like.
I like the reversable clip but these look cheap like a promotional display that was never intended to be used.
Not a dewalt fan but those are clean
lol. Just another day for that knuckle!😂
The lack of blade storage is no bueno
Are they really made by DeWalt or are they just licensed to use the brand name?
There seems to be several 'sets' with other names and similar functions.
I don’t give a fuck I may buy the Klein one too I like them all I want them all.
My state limit is 3 inches. The commonwealth of Virginia is 2 inches.
What has happened to this country?
That's insane
@@maxhughes5687 4 here in Connecticut. UNDER 4. If it's 4 exactly they can technically get ya. One guy had a cop measure out 4in of string on a ruler, cut it, and lay it across the blade profile to show that the total length of the edge counting the drop point was just over, when factory specs said 3.98 or some shit. that was like 20 something years ago. It's rare to get nailed though many people have larger knives out in public as long as you're minding your own and look like you might have a reason for it like if you have 2+ realtree garments on LOL
Oooh....Ahhh. It's fancy, box time.
Pocket clip looks like it's for right-handers only, tip up or down.
That blade its like one of my lidl blade i use for more than 15 years.
Lidl Germany brand parkside
So no Milwaukee or dewald had make first .
I thought those two on the left were automatics at first with that button
Humm... so, no "DeWalt not Dee-Walt" Joke? thank you!!
I can do better, I will do better 😪
Are these in HD yet
Without mention of the blade steel. Gonna take a wild guess they are junk.
People would be…angry? Weird
No thanks. i'm not allowed to handle sharp objects. 👎
Personally I like a Kershaw.
What's the product number for the four pack?
Why would they not have put the screwdriver bit and bottle opener on there? At least the screwdriver. Very disappointed as a Dewalt guy.
Agree. It’s the only reason I use the Milwaukee- the screwdriver
