    Much obliged! Once I found that little screw on the back of the actuator assembly it was downhill from there. I just kept over looking it. Thanks!

    Great video. It's easier to remove the rod that goes from the actuator to the outside door pull handle (the rod you can see) from the actuator rather than the door handle mechanism. In fact it's very difficult to pull that rod out from the top, even after removing the plastic keeper. Don't try prying it out, you'll break the door handle. Remove it at the actuator (it has a plastic keeper there as well) I did my passenger side front door so there was only one rod going up to the outside handle. Also I didn't need to take out the window channel. Just removed the 10mm bolt and moved it aside to withdraw the latch mechanism.

    Tip - you can roll all windows up or down by inserting the key in the driver door and turning two times to the left or two times to the right. The first turn will lock/unlock and the second turn will roll windows up/down.
    This helpful if you get out of the car and then realize a window is down. Instead of getting back in the car and inserting the key to roll windows up.

    This video would have saved me hours and mistakes on exact same car. The thoroughness is appreciated. You hit all the important points. The tools you used on the door latch are better than impact driver because the door frame deforms with an impact blow. (Ask me how I know) If the screw is a #3 bit, use ONLY a #3 bit. I am trusting your part number because I got it wrong the first time around. There are many variations that selection guides seem to blend for the wrong models. I think my replacement had a lever arm that was too short.

    Another way of removing the plastic cover thats over the actuator & lock, Use a pair of pliers. Just place the bottom jaw on the plastic cover Edge and place the top jaw on the metal tab thats poking through and gently squeeze the pliers and the cover is released. No need for a screwdriver or a pick to prye them apart and it saves on repair time too.

    Just need to do the passenger side now LOL
    P.S if you're reading this and your door latch gets stuck, simply HOLD open the door and use a screw driver or pick to slide the latch clear
    P.P.S if you use the impact screwdriver, if you hit too hard expect to do some panel beating like I did HAHAHAHA

    Before removing the whole door panel, remove the plastic cover from behind the inner door handle then remove the 2 screws from behind it. Using plastic removal tools, pry the entire plastic piece out to expose the attached cable. Now disconnect the cable and you won't find "the green plastic piece already broken." Common mistake I keep seeing in these videos.

    • @nosac1230
      @nosac1230 Рік тому +1

      You are so correct, and that green plastic piece will absolutely break if the interior door handle is not first removed and the cable disconnected as you described.
      Now that the green plastic piece is broken, the cable will not be aligned properly and it's just a letter of time before the cable snaps. (It's a lousy design to begin with.)
      When the cable does eventually snap (and it will) the entire disassembly you just watched all the way to removing the door latch assembly will need to be done again to replace the entire cable.

    Make sure to remove the interior door handle first and unlatch the cable and green adapter before you pop off the panel or you will break the adapter just as it appears in this video. The green adapter is fragile and breaks very easily.

    I replaced the actuator and the door locks work but the door won’t open, from inside or outside. I think it might be the rods on the inside. How do I correct this. I have the panel back on and the door is closed. I connected the inner door handle and that doesn’t open it either. Sounds like I may have to cut the door panel. Any other solution ?

    • @APDTY
      @APDTY  4 роки тому +1

      Nikea Holland so the exact problem can be diagnosed, this requires removing the door panel and checking voltage at the door lock actuator. If voltage exists when pressing the door lock button but the door lock does not move, then you need a door lock actuator. All of the door lock actuators must be working if you want to have or use a keyless entry system.

    I have a 2000 accord 2 door. My car locks by itself when car is on. The problem starts when I open and close the car door after it has been started. Note it does this after the car is on and I open the door the first time. After that it locks by itself. If the door is open it does not lock. Also the dome light does not light up when I unlock the door before the door is opened. It's supposed to light up and fade to off if the door is not opened. It could be a number of things I know but your opinion is good for me. Could the problem be the actuator?

      yeaup it was broken, we did not have a new cable and had to order from a Honda dealer, so we very carefully made sure the plastic pieces on the end of that cable were on the correct side of the connection on the actuator assembly and then installed it as is, it is still working as of today and the cable is still on my tool box waiting on the car to come back, it will be back eventually, thanks for watching!

    Well, I have the same model. My problem is that it can only be closed manually to each door. Either the doors are open, whether you use the remote or the opening buttons or even if you pull the safety of the driver, all doors are opened. However, there is no closure at all from the source of the manual closing of each door. Where does the problem lie?

    • @APDTY
      @APDTY  5 років тому

      so this may have been translated to English and I dont fully understand what you are describing, the way to look at or diagnose this is, do the locks work by using the manual locks including the door lock cylinder that uses the keys? If all the locks work properly mechanically by either using the manual key or the manual push or pull on the door, then the problem is probably electronic which then you switch to removing the door panel and checking for power at the door lock actuator when you lock or unlock the door, in other words follow the voltage checks we did on the video, of power exists at the door lock actuator and it is not actuating, then the actuator is failed.

      Sandra Colon this can be a difficult situation, do you have a manual lock tab that you can move by hand? If it doesn’t move or if it does and nothing happens, then you most likely have a linkage problem to the latch/actuator, attempting to remove the inner door handle and grabbing the cable or lock rod would be where I would start, we h e never had to cut into a door panel but we have heard stories of some situations where cutting into the door panel was needed, I would try everything else first

    34:21. I've about lost as to where the rod connects to on my 2004 Honda CR-V. I had to replace the drivers side window motor and that went OK but I shifted the rod up a bit too much getting the old motor out and it popped free. This is the rod that connects to the inside door handle. Without it connected, I'm left with rolling the window down to let myself out the car. Do you have any ideas or even better pictures of where it connects?

    Would replacing this lock actuator help with the operation of the key remote opening and closing all doors???Thanks in advance

    That interior cable end breaks so easily even with the updated part.

    Why don't you specify if this video is for
    #1 car maintenance technicians
    #2 mechanics
    #3 car restorers
    Etc.

    With the key in the ignition, I press the lock button on the key fob. I hear the sound of doors locking but they don't lock. I've never had that happen before.

      Ron T yeah the key fob still did not work, the keyless entry system was not working at all, that is another problem and we believe it is the reciever inside the car, although we would have to do some tests to really confirm that, their keyless entry has not worked for a year or more and they were not concerned with it and did not want to spend any money on it at this point.

      @@APDTY My son has exact same car. Using the fob, it unlocks all doors except left front driver's side. Using the key, it unlocks all doors. A friend said it might be a cable or metal arm, that has come off the keeper clips due to someone trying to break in the car using a slim jim from the outside. What do you think, actuator or possibly clips? BTW, awesome video. You work effectively and cleanly. My 45 year mechanic father would be proud of your work.

      Ron T most likely the actuator but you have to remove the door panel and inspect to verify for sure

    Too bad you just skipped past how to disconnect the large rod from the inside door handle, which was the hardest part.
