HTC One is the more eye catching????? The Lumia is bright yellow and is unmissable!!! I had the One, hated the picture quality but it's the best Android I've ever had. Getting my Lumia 1020 tomorrow and can't wait
Not sure if it is in the works, but can you please a comparison video of all 4 major cell cameras when recording video (s4, one, iphone 5s, 1020) in the later future? The iphone 5s should be just around the corner, and and I'm due for an upgrade next month lol.
A great review of two very impressive phones. I like the camera of the Nokia, but the Windows platform keeps me from wanting to jump right in (I am currently an Android user). As other comments have noted, there is more to a phone than a great camera. Well done, PR, thumbs up to the video and I'm a new subscriber. I look forward to more reviews!
Yes, the Dutch courts forbid the supplier, STM, from further supplying HTC with these Nokia designed/exclusive components. But Nokia also filed multiple patent violation claims with the ITC, which is reviewing the case against HTC. To date, HTC has not clarified if and when the Nokia HAAC microphones will cease to be included in the HTC One's construction.
As is said at the end, I think it comes down to which OS you want to run. I'm all for Windows Phone and have had my 1020 for two days and love it as both a camera and a phone. The HTC One is a lovely looking phone but I would never have an Android phone again. Maybe if HTC brought the design to its next Windows Phones?
I own a HTC one... Correction, I own my FOURTH HTC one. Never again will I buy one... When I first got the phone I thought it was awesome, it had everything, great looks, feel, build quality, and what a fantastic camera! After 3 months my microphone stopped working, then the top speaker stopped working, and then it wouldn't read my SIM... And then it kept crashing. When I had it sent off for repair they just gave me a new one, fantastic... Until I used the camera, every shot had a purple glow to it, and to cut a long story short, so did the next two replacement handsets... Now I've been offered the Nokia 1020 as a replacement and I really can't wait! BEFORE ANYONE BUYS THE HTC ONE, PLEASE GOOGLE- HTC ONE CAMERA PROBLEM... It seems that hundreds of cameras are faulty and they have no clue why, or how to fix them! Stay well clear for now.
What innovation does the 1020 provide? Serious question because I'm not sure if I should get 1020 or HTC One. For a newer phone the 1020 really has some low specs. And that battery for a powerful camera like that I'm not surprised if it doesn't last half a day (I know I'm not going to use the camera all the time but still).
The HTC one wallpaper? That's in the beginning? WHERE DO I GET I

Allright: A year ago I first bought my WP. Nothing fancy, just a Lumia 610, but I liked the experience. Then I bought a flagship android phone with all the bells and whistles and sold it after a month. The android was just a huge mess to me and despite high-end spec it still tended to lag! Now I'm a happy user of a Lumia 720, but it's time to shop for something new and there comes my question: is there anything in HTC One, that can convince a case-hardened WP fanboy to switch back to android? :D maybe some other device? Or maybe I should better stick to WP and just wait for 2014 nokia lineup?

For now I'm waiting for the CES, when Nokia will probably announce their 5" device with internals of the 1520. Then we'll see :)
11 років тому
Same goes to me. I know it sounds a bit Fanboy-ish, but I don't claim, that Nokias are the best. They just fit me the most :)
if u use whattsapp a lot then android is way better. that was my only reason for dumping my nokia 920. actually it was all the messaging platforms. when texting wp keyboard takes up 3/4 of the screen. its so very annoying
i've had the 620 for about a week and i love everything besides the app store. That's probably the only thing that's selling me about android phones tbh. If you don't mind some the limitations of the windows app store, i say go for the 1020 !!
Does Windows phones have Instagram yet? I'm now ready to upgrade from my HTC one. There's so many great phones out now though it seems impossible to choose. I'm thinking to decide based on battery life as that's the main issue I've dealt with in the last year and a half. Also I'd love it to be waterproof and have wireless charging. Only phone to satisfy seems to be Sony z2....but it just seems too big for me as I'd like 4.5_4.7 inch. I wonder if the new LG g3 will be waterproof? Or I could wait to see the s5 active even though I don't love Samsung phones as I find they lag too much.
It always astounds me how much processing power flagship Android devices have. Is this really necessary? Has Android really turned into such an unwieldy beast?
About the daylight visibility, If you set the Lumia to auto brightness and select sunlight readability then it will get ridiculously bright when outside/...
A Good review Michael. The only thing you have been leaving out is..you're not explaining why a dual core is enough to run a windows phone compared to android's quad cores. Also in terms of speed.. how does a dual core windows phone holds on its own compared to a Android device.
Corrected just after upload and noted via annotation, upvoted comments, and in the first line of the description. Please read the description, folks. ^MF
Internals don't matter when you have an OS that's as smooth as Windows Phone. Adding quadcore processors and more RAM just makes the OS that much better. If people and app developers saw this, Windows Phone's whole ecosystem would be so much more legit that Android and iOS.
the only reason because WP7 devices did not get WP8 is because of a new kernel and the hardware requirements microsoft made for WP8, The kernel of WP7 is from like, Windows Mobile 5, from around 2005-2007 or something.
hey Michael who got better sound quelity wiht headphones becuase i had a lumia but i been stolen and now i don't know who to buy htc one or Nokia lumia 920??? sorry for my bad pronuciation im from Venezuela good video!
i absolutely agree to u on this point. with this small a screen, there was no need fr 1080p. Infact a 1080p screen shuld be avoided for anything below 5'.
Not Android - OEM skins are the issue - though HTC seem to have got Sense 5 pretty well sorted, as it runs just as well on a Snapdragon 400 2 core at 1.4mhz with 1GB of RAM as it does on a Snapdragon 600 4 core at 1.7Ghz with 2GB of RAM, at least according to the reviews for the One Mini.
I have a HTC one and it's pretty good but,now i want to buy this 1020 to try the windows phone. Can someone who have this Nokia to tell me what is in that Play Store and Xbox? I mean,if it has enough apps or games? I heared a lot of people how said that it has a problem cause all his good games are for money. Is it true?
No it is not true. I had the nokia lumia 520 and it was great, considering the fact that it was the First lumia in the World then. Actually, Nokia has more useful apps and it is less about gaming. That is why most people pick the HTC one. It runs android and as a result, has a wider range in games. For example, if you are a fan of Subway Surfers then my advice is to stick with the HTC One because Lumia doesn't provide it. If you are not a gamer then go for the Nokia lumia 1020. ;)
Micheal i have a question i hope u can give a good advice i have an iphone 5 so im buying an ipad the ipad same the iphone but its big so im thinking to but a windows phone device is it a good OS?and i wait for htc 8xt or buy a lumia?? with my regards
I'm a bit confused though. It seems like the 920/925/928 still takes better low light photos, and has better stabilization than the 1020. If this is so, that's stupid, as this should be EVERY bit better than the 920/925/928.
Fellow watchers, if you could like this and get it seen I would greatly appreciate it! Michael, I'm going to buy a microphone and I love the quality and sound of yours. What is it?
You're right, but the camera on here is still better. It doesn't have a 41MP camera to take 41MP photos, it has it so you can have loseless zoom and lots of other goodies.
It only takes too long with the pro app. That's because it is saving a 38 mp image and processing a 5mp image. If you need faster shooting, you can use the stock app or one of the other photo apps. It will take pictures much faster but it will only save the 5 mp oversampled image.
you said it excels lumia about extra camera fx option but i dont see a object removing stuff in zoe. can someone explain it what does zoe actually do? can it do animations partial animations object removal and all other stuff lumia does?
They lag after a while... A month or so. My friend has a HTC One after a moth it started lagging, closing apps, and restarting on it's own. I don't know about the S4 but I guess it's no different.
I watched the video, and I never mentioned the s4, you don't I'm ignorant or anything. Tasker basically create tasks that have a cause and a effect. With a good voice plugin you can emulate what the motox is doing, just with more battery consumption. Tried every lumia except for the 1020, weird to hear that there's app crashing, the 1020 is just a 920 with agreat camera, shouldn't have any bugs except for the camera software.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 leverages its 41MP sensor to produce over 3.2 micron virtual "super" pixels at default 5MP resolution while the HTC One uses smaller 2 micron "ultra" pixels at its fixed 4MP. Nokia also uses a patented full module 3 axis optical image stabilization (vs the HTC One's single lens element 2 axis OIS). Lastly, the overall size of the sensor has more influence on light gathering than the individual size of each pixels. Hence the 1020's overall superior low light performance
video recording is the same allmost on every phone, lumia has optical image stab. that the big plus. full hd video its only 2MP, so what matter 41 or 4 MP?
pocketnowvideo, You have not completely understanding Nokia Lumia 1020. You made a mistake. Go to the phone "Setting"> "Display". There is a "Lumia color Profile", You and adjust the Display-screen's color temperature and color saturation
...i don't give a penny for the Lumia camera quality,WTF focks????We want to buy a top smartphone, not a camera pro ??!!The ONE is the absolute king of the smartphone market for prezent !!!!Good review mister Fisher!!!!
Guys, with regard to front facing camera, you're missing the point. HTC One screen size error (4.7" vs 5") corrected via annotation. Thanks for the heads-up, folks! (Please vote up for visibility.) ^MF
Nokia Lumia 1020 for me!! Getting it on Friday coming all being well!
Bought mine yesterday, yellow, 64 GB version, cant wait to get it! :)
Xscrambler Cool! It's working out great for me. I love how the camera works. :D
Nice video. Professional and straight to the point. By far one of the best channels I have found for reviews. Keep up the good work. Subscribed!
HTC One is the more eye catching????? The Lumia is bright yellow and is unmissable!!! I had the One, hated the picture quality but it's the best Android I've ever had. Getting my Lumia 1020 tomorrow and can't wait
So...How is your new Lumia? Is it better then the One?
Not sure if it is in the works, but can you please a comparison video of all 4 major cell cameras when recording video (s4, one, iphone 5s, 1020) in the later future? The iphone 5s should be just around the corner, and and I'm due for an upgrade next month lol.

finally a comparison between phones and not their OS's. good job michael
these are easily the best mobile device comparisons on UA-cam.
Always a joy watching your vids Michael. Just awesome.
"Mistake," singular, unless there's another I'm missing. Also, this makes three comparisons in two days. Errors happen. ^MF
this was a very good comparison, very unbiased, unlike the other comparisons and reviews out there.
Got to love these videos by such a great writer and Tech junky .Thanks Michael

The more I see of the One the more impressed I get. HTC has made a monster!. Great review btw,Michael..
There's got to be something behind the One at 3:00, I can't get mine to stand like that... And a slight shadow possibly?
You got screen size of the HTC One and Galaxy S4 wrong in both comparison videos to the Lumia.
What innovation does the 1020 provide? Serious question because I'm not sure if I should get 1020 or HTC One. For a newer phone the 1020 really has some low specs. Could you test the night time video recording of the Nokia lumia 1020
This guy never gives decisive conclusions.

always happy to see informative videos that give me the information I want.
Now do a Comparison between the Sony Xperia Z (updated firmware) and Nokia Lumia 1020 please.
do you have a link to the background on that htc one?? I wanna use it
About the daylight visibility, If you set the Lumia to auto brightness and select sunlight readability then it will get ridiculously bright when outside/...

Why did your hands shake that bad with the lumia ? i never get that with my 920... Is the ois worse than the 920 ? :S
Your voice is so awesome, I could easily see you voice acting in some adult swim show or something. You should seriously look into that.
One takes nice low light photos ? Maybe when we compare to S4 ...
Around 07:00 whats that beautiful chanting in background?
-front facing camera- @Lol would you want purple hue or sickish green lol
Sorry around 07:10
Around 07:12 on lumia footage
And 07:20 ? Are those neighbors? What is that singing in background
Mah Fah its a hindi song Adaat by Jal
really
cool
i absolutely agree to u on this point. with this small a screen, there was no need fr 1080p. Infact a 1080p screen shuld be avoided for anything below 5'.
I want you to compare Nokia Lumia 1020 with Nokia Pureview 808
Not Android - OEM skins are the issue - though HTC seem to have got Sense 5 pretty well sorted, as it runs just as well on a Snapdragon 400 2 core at 1.4mhz with 1GB of RAM as it does on a Snapdragon 600 4 core at 1.7Ghz with 2GB of RAM, at least according to the reviews for the One Mini.
Forgot to mention the reason wich is the camera
Michael, you MUST do a Lumia 1020 vs Galaxy S4 Zoom comparison. MUST!
I have a HTC one and it's pretty good but,now i want to buy this 1020 to try the windows phone. Can someone who have this Nokia to tell me what is in that Play Store and Xbox? How 'bout Nokia Lumia 1020 vs Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom?
Camera comparison....
Nokia wins this time ;)
*gives standing ovation* very good review michael fisher!
Micheal i have a question
i hope u can give a good advice
i have an iphone 5
so im buying an ipad
the ipad same the iphone but its big
so im thinking to but a windows phone device
is it a good OS?and i wait for htc 8xt or buy a lumia??
with my regards
Which is why the ITC is reviewing the case against HTC for multiple Nokia owned patent violations (>~40).
What is it?
nokia lumia 1020 the king
song in background in video demo, "aadat - jal the band"
You're right, but the camera on here is still better. It doesn't have a 41MP camera to take 41MP photos, it has it so you can have loseless zoom and lots of other goodies.
Does Android 4.3 come to all of Android devices ?

Isn't the HTC one a 4.7 inch screened phone?
Which one has the better camera and has better quality?
You do the best reviews those guys at phonedog are bias as hell. Please continue to keep up the good work
Hey great video.
I have noticed that about Nokia, they never slam dunk it's competitors in terms of cameras.
you said it excels lumia about extra camera fx option but i dont see a object removing stuff in zoe. can someone explain it what does zoe actually do? can it do animations partial animations object removal and all other stuff lumia does?
You made a little erro with the HTC One, it's 4.7" screen not 5.
They lag after a while... A month or so. My friend has a HTC One after a moth it started lagging, closing apps, and restarting on it's own. I don't know about the S4 but I guess it's no different.
It's what I've been saying since the preorder! You can't stop the ONE!!!
ah my mistake.
And yes I not saying ms isn't doing any software development for wp8, just that it won't arrive until next year.
more pixels means more detail both zoomed and not zoomed. and nokias optic system is awesome along side an amazing flash
What's the difference between Gorila Glass 3 and 2?
Why do you never smile in photos?
The Nokia Lumia 1020 leverages its 41MP sensor to produce over 3.2 micron virtual "super" pixels at default 5MP resolution while the HTC One uses smaller 2 micron "ultra" pixels at its fixed 4MP. In your last video you said the galaxy s4 has a 4.8 inch screen and now you said the htc one has a 5.0 inch screen , please fix your mistakes.
Nokia provides this with the additional case, dont they?
both are marvelous phones..cannot judge between them which one to take.
you shoul throw the Z10 also on the competition since you're comparing the top of all the plataforms
video recording is the same allmost on every phone, lumia has optical image stab. that the big plus. full hd video its only 2MP, so what matter 41 or 4 MP?
It's not really a 41 MP Camera, it samples 7 Pixels in to one, so its a 4 MP Camera at the End with better Pixel Resolution ;)
Its a 4.7'' inch on the HTC one Mr.fisher
pocketnowvideo, You have not completely understanding Nokia Lumia 1020.
You made a mistake. Go to the phone "Setting"> "Display". There is a "Lumia color Profile", You and adjust the Display-screen's color temperature and color saturation
5 inch, you mean 4.7???
Good review.... No biased comments made about each phones...keep it up
7:29, 'Aadhat'?(The song, I mean)
Isn't the HTC one less than 5 inches?
...i don't give a penny for the Lumia camera quality,WTF focks????We want to buy a top smartphone, not a camera pro ??!!The ONE is the absolute king of the smartphone market for prezent !!!!Good review mister Fisher!!!!
Wait 5 inch? This video is one of the best you've produced Michael but you made quite some mistakes with the specs.
Is that Chip Foose?
Please compare Nokia 1020 with iPhone 5 as well!
I still thinking about get an HTC One...
Jelly because you cant take pictures with your 4 megapixel HTC One?
BTW 41 megapixel compressed to 5 megapixel photo with all the detail.
The htc one is 4.7 inches! How can you go wrong on THAT?
I have both. HTC One is the better phone but the lumia is good for those days you feel like tossing and dropping your phone around
what the camera?
Guys, with regard to front facing camera, you're missing the point. You absolutely must include Video Calling performance, since in my opinion this would be one of the main reasons for having a front facing camera.
There is no contest to an iPhone5 and FaceTime which lets you have HD video calling, It works very well over 3G and handles poor connections much, much better than Skype does.
Skype has no Mobile HD calling on Android. It might do on some Lumia's.
You should do a vs in this area.
and also those high end cameras have larger pixels than a normal phone think about it like those ultrapixels at a 22mp resolution
If the HTC one went with around 8mp it would be perfect. I hate not having any zooming capability or cropping on my one. The software is great though... Maybe in the next iteration.
5 inch?
Im so impressed Michael..this video has no hint tat u are a windows phone lover..gj
