Doesn't get any simpler than that. Reliable heat at its finest. And heat it does make. Is that nut, or stove coal?

I gunna try this I have a similar stove but I can't get the coal hot enough, I tried your method without charcoal, the coal wont get hot enough.. bottom vent is open, top closed, I only have a draft control on the back of the stove that goes to chimney that is also open

Charcoal or hardwood works. You want the wood fire screaming hot, then put on a skiff layer of coal. Add the coal in small amounts. Should start glowing, blue flames after a while. Bottom air open, leave ash door open if its not heating up fast enough. (Be careful leaving it open too long.) Top air closed if you have a top air inlet. Stove in direct draft (oven damper open) and pipe damper wide open. You can search on coalpail.com for good information.
