Hey John great vid looks a little tricky running that stove but the benefits of coal are obvious now can you burn wood in that same area of the stove?😊
Hi Dave; I love the thing. Its like a pet...lol. Yes, wood and coal both in the same spot. usually I like a bed of ash when burning wood so the fire doesn't continually drop into the ashpan. I have over time figured out how to get longer burn times on wood. Thanks as always!!!! John

how much and how much coal do you get.? there a particular type/name of col you get. In some areas of our country(nZ) people do still burn coal but it rare now.There is alwaya particular small when someone is burning coal.Do you get that and is there any smoke from your chiney. Shhouldnt you get that fire really going now and then to clean out the chimney?
Hi Paul. Last year I had a little left over then I bought 2 tons of nut coal and I burned very little of it. I mostly save it for sub twenties F weather. There are still a lot of coal burners around. Mostly rice coal with stoker stoves. Connor heats his house with a stoker and we have one at the bbq for when it gets really cold out. There is very little smoke. The majority of the coal burning cycle puts out no visible smoke from the chimney. You will only see the heat waves. Unlike wood there is no creosote.
