    Hey Bill there is an adjustment for the linkage travel on these motors its on the end of the gearshaft rod inside the front of the lower pan . Look for the Funny looking screw and jam nut with a 7/16 bolt adjust the travel for shifting.They usually dont get messed up most times .But check your other possibiltie see if they are are good.....Glenn..

      @@BlackoutBilll21 Yeah you fixed it must of ran that gearcase without oil or used grease which is a no no and that coupler someone made good try but get the right parts I always say if possible.I seen the pin was still raised in the casting not crushed so that FWD bearing wasnt spinning in there.Most times with these engines its simple just that nobody has the drive or ambition to fix these older motors.Shops most couldnt be bothered.So that makes it good for guys like you and me & make a little gas money.........

      Thanks for the love my man!! Yeah so you can depending on the year. There is a million responses to this question but yes you can get a increase in HP but you might not feel it. Youre not going to get 15 actual HP but you will def see a slight increase

    Funny you just uploaded this.I just picked a 1970 9.5 up today cheap. Your right they are different.CarbsCompletely different.Had no spark on top cylinder.Pulled flywheel and adjusted /cleaned points..Got spark back. Actually got it started briefly.Kill switch shot.Didn’t know how it should pee out that rubber boot.Need to see one pee to see if an impeller is needed.Have a question ..How do you tilt these things?.I have to manually go down and release the hooks on tilt pin to lift it up.Not sure if something is missing to release it?

    • @BlackoutBilll21
      @BlackoutBilll21  4 роки тому

      OK so the tilt on these things is REALLY complicated! lol I actually can't describe it... I know you have to push and turn that gear nob and then there is still a lever you need to muscle to open! Sorry im not much help here.

    • @wish2fish37
      @wish2fish37 4 роки тому

      Thanks. I watched another video that showed you have to manually go down and push the locking hooks off the tilt pin. The lever is only for when you want to tilt it up out of the water. Figured out the actual pin adjustment. Thought something was broke.

    • @wish2fish37
      @wish2fish37 4 роки тому

      Realize now I must not have had it in forward gear when trying to tilt. Thought I tried it like that. But anyway feel like a dummy now.

    How much would you charge someone for doing that same exact job?

    • @BlackoutBilll21
      @BlackoutBilll21  2 роки тому +2

      me?? I mean Im not a professional. They charge 150 an hour plus parts. If it was me a hobbiest... I would charge 100 for labor and 100 for parts. That gear set isnt cheap!
