Now I have learned that by pure chance I have always done is drink Scotch properly. I always drink it from a glass and enjoy it by the tiniest sips letting it linger in my mouth. I so enjoy a good Scotch!
My favorite. Recently watched a video of the unboxing of a 72 year old bottle of the Macallan - cost $200k - would love just a 'wee drop of it to wet me whistle' as my grandfather would say.
Perhaps they should focus on keeping the Macallan quality where it once was, instead of riding the coattails of the brand & putting out an inferior single malt at a premium price.
Within the past year I've been introduced to quality scotches from a group of whiskey/bourbon/scotch enthusiast. Never once has a member brought over a bottle of Macallan to drink for the evening. It seems to controversial brand. Why do you think the quality has gone down? What would be some of your top choices? (Obviously normal choices, not the $500 per bottle stuff. I personally just don't taste/enjoy the differences enough once you get past around $250 IMHO)
@@springbranch6866 Macallen sadly sells alot with the brand. You should try to go for bottles with atleast 46% abv, no coloring. Yes they might not add coloring, but you can pour fresh sherry into the casks, let them sit some months and then age the whisky in it, it will get color, but not much flavour, compared to a heavy oaky cask or a older sherry cask etc. Maybe the cask got filled the 4th time now, the wood is tired and doesnt give any oils or character. Some good distilleries: Arran, Glencadam, Edradour, the new Glenturret, Glen Scotia, Springbank.... there are plenty, also plenty of sherried options, rich in flavour and texture :)
They don't say because they don't want to encourage the distinction, commit or admit anything irt that. They still produce whiskies where they use coloring.
You do relize E150 is a completely natural compound right? Its like E300, which is regular ascorbic acid (which we litterly cant live without) but they have to write E300 if it was created in a lab instead of extracted from ex. a fruit. Its still the same exact substance and will have the exact same effect. But in one situation its called E300, and in another ascorbic acid. As far as the glass goes you are correct that is a bit of a strange glass choice for a tasting. However, those kind of glasses are in fact the kind that would be the "traditional" whisky glass for consumtion in bars etc. In europe that would be considered a whisky glass. Glencairn and other glasses like it is mostly refered to as a "nosing" glass. And although those are superior for smelling, you can still smell well good in a regular whisky glass aslong as your nose isnt complete shit :P But ofc, a glencairn or similar is superior for smell since it gives you more options so you can more easily detect all there is. While a glass like this will certainly be sufficient as long as you got enough whiskey in it, its not ideal.
The bottle I have does say natural colour on the front bottom. To the left of the Alc. / Vol. statement 43% and above the 'Product of Scotland' statement
A lowball glass (you called it a 'bourbon glass') is perfectly fine. The use of a Glencairn glass isnt necessary in all tastings. He is an embassador, already knows the nuances of the whisky at hand
This guy would hate to hear how I first tried this product.... it was in shot form at a friends house. There was no savoring and chewing. Just a straight shot.
Scotch is better served at 46% and unchillfiltered. everything the Macallan 12 is not. Seriously, the macallan 12 (at least the sherry oak I have) is delicious... but there are better, cheaper options that are integrity bottles (46%, natural color, unchillfiltered)
Ah, but you've completely left out one of the most important aspects of correctly enjoying The Macallan scotch. One must be a-wearin' *The Macallan* hat
Oh,my Scottish brother... You would kick me in the arse if you saw me take my Scotch whisky. I'm a habitual shooter. Pour a shot and shoot it. Maybe a little Sunny D as a chaser. Just an old habit from drinking Tequila and Dusse cognac. You have my word,as the ancestral Scottish blood flows in my veins, .. I will try your methods . After all .. that is why and how I came to your video. I don't wish to insult my ancestral homeland and drink by abusing it with American technique. From Ohio USA, thank you.
No one is gonna smell anything with that tumbler... the smell disappears. he should be using a Glencairn... the cup he's using is the first thing you should avoid, I'm a bit surprised to see it there.
nice vid but can do without the forced subtitles...please let the viewer choose whether they want them or not....your use of large subtitles takes away from the quality of the video...
The proper way?? No! The beginners way. It's fantastic to introduce macallan to new customers without looking like a snob gentleman, marketing obliges. But I have enjoyed the video anyway 🙂
That product is also for beginners other brand ambassadors from macallan have in the recent past talked about the double cask being their beginners intro to scotch. Trying to draw in a new generation of scotch drinkers. There a several proper ways to go about tasting scotch this isnt a begginers wau
If he actually wants to teach people how to appreciate whisky, he could start by losing the sports coat and get himself a proper nosing glass such as a glencairn.
I just tried the chew technique. This dude just changed my world. Complete different approach to drinking and I love it.
just bought my first macallan scotch and oh my... the chewing technique is amazing
Ive been chewing my whiskey since the last 8-9 years almost and the taste it gives that way is just incredible
Why do I get the feeling Richard Paterson has already killed him?
This guys voice needs to be on the GPS as an option.
Thanks for the subtitles!! What wait ..
Best review I ever seen, fantastic job!
Kieron :: Don't swirl your whiskey
Richard Paterson :: Hold my carpet , Hello ? How are you ? I am fine !! Thank you
Now I have learned that by pure chance I have always done is drink Scotch properly. I always drink it from a glass and enjoy it by the tiniest sips letting it linger in my mouth. I so enjoy a good Scotch!
I was lucky to get this bottle for 40 dollars then the regional price, can't wait to taste this weekend!!
This guy is Richard Patersons arch nemesis
Nice job Kieron! I love Macallan!
I just got a small bottle of it it’s so good I tried that chewing thing game changer is all I’m gonna say
My favorite. Recently watched a video of the unboxing of a 72 year old bottle of the Macallan - cost $200k - would love just a 'wee drop of it to wet me whistle' as my grandfather would say.
That MACALLAN Scotch just looks Absolutely Fantastic
My daughter gave me a Mac Allan dual cask for Christmas . Outstanding
lol .. did you get a fake ?
Are they Chill filtered!
Thank you
Great vid
This guy rules
How many grams is recommended to drink this whiskey in the evening?
I bought a bottle yesterday is good mouthwash!!
Macallan and Balvenie are delicious.
Great video
Very intuitive thank you for us beginners
Love this
I just purchased a bottle of Macallan 18 year old at Costco. $229 a bottle.
Which one?
@@emie3403 ..2018 Sherry Oak Cask Single Malt
@@b.whisky9438 that was a damn steal! Congrats and enjoy
Didn't they colour the Night on Earth in Scotland?
RICHARD PATERSEN IS BEYOND PISSED
Why not a nosing glass ?
We bought an expensive scotch whisky. It chewed our wallet.
Brilliant
It's my 'yell at the wife and kids' potion. "she turned the weans agnit me".
Such a passion mate 😁
Neat.
Nice vid there big man. I have a bottle of this, so I have 🏴
He needs to meet Richard Paterson.

“Sláinte” means Health,
“Mhath” means Good.
Sláinte mhath - Good Health
Also, Macallan whiskies are overpriced, but they’re so fragrant and delicious…
When it comes to drinking Macallan, people should drink it the way they like it. It's that great of a whisky. Slainte!
This guy reminds me of Sick Boy un Trainspotting somehow. Mayonaise = white and oily.
Shouldn’t be using a different kind of glass to nose properly?
Does Macallan consists artificial flavouring?
" BY LAW....is a minim..." ..haha
Some master distillers swirl their whisky. Seems like it’s a personal choice.
yeah i like my scotch no ice just clean glass
the subtitle guys is just give up and told us to turn up our volume instead
but every whisky legends swirls 😉
This is not how to taste whisky. Really a shame Macallan have hired this gentleman.
So why does it not say natural color on the bottle? And what's with the bourbon glass? Can't nose anything with that
They don't say because they don't want to encourage the distinction, commit or admit anything irt that. They still produce whiskies where they use coloring.

I'd buy dirt from this guy. Way smooth......
Why on Earth is he not using a Glencairn?!
I prefer my scotch in a Glencairn glass. I like bourbon old fashioned's in the glass he's using.

Blue Label 👍
Notice the red nose. Those are capillaries popping due to alcohol consumption. He's developing a beauty of a liver! But ya only go around once.
bruv jus go watch harvey spectre drink sum and u will be high class top 1% level immediatly
Love Macallan but they should get Patterson for these matters

That's not a proper whisky glass
It is perfectly acceptable. Whisky doesnt always need to be in a nosing glass, such as a Glencairn
Thats a double old fashioned glass so yes it is. Addendum: it could also be a highball glass however still a proper whisky (or whiskey) glass.
He seems like a used car sales man copying Jerry Tosh...lol. Oh and get a proper glass...uhg
It is Whisky not Whiskey that is Irish!
No one is gonna smell anything with that tumbler... the smell disappears. he should be using a Glencairn... the cup he's using is the first thing you should avoid, I'm a bit surprised to see it there.

this advice is completely arbitrary
Not worth the money imo. Overpriced for what it is due to how they market their products. It's like a not-so-great quality Supreme t-shirt.
🤡
Overpriced !
