Personally, i wouldn't get a tattoo. If I'm looking at my body as God's creation, who am i to mar it in any way? I'd rather have His word in my heart then inked on my back or arm.
“Never think about Ink” God made you and me as an original by birth, why should we ever make us “better” than god made us? Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. -So I would say “never think about ink” But of course great topic and great since you decided to get tattooed ...
My personal choice is to not get one because I'd hate to mark my body and if I changed my mind, not really be able to remove unless through another painful experience. I think there are other ways I can express my beliefs etc. I do find that when I see a pastor showing his tattoos it does make me indirectly want to get one... weird but true. And when I am listening to him preach I find them distracting because I begin to wonder what his tattoos mean or the reason behind him getting them. So I feel tattoos should probably be covered just like any other distracting thing aside from tattoos like immodest clothes, flashy shoes, etc...
Knack Ability I believe its wrong. In my opinion, I believe God puts conviction deep inside of your heart to let you know when something isn’t right. Therefore, I truly feel like I’m doing something bad if I’m getting a tattoo. I have four tattoos and I’ve always felt that they are wrong and I wish they were gone. This is just me though.
BLACKBEARS so a „faith based“ slogan on my crack pipe, on my gun ore before a porn starts is a conversation starter towards Christianity as well? Sounds harsh, but it’s a honest question, just want to understand if it can be used as a clear line of argumentation? To me it’s not a good „pro ink“ argument.
Great practical video and wise words!! I would like to piggyback on your comment on the reason for the levitical law. It was also to set the Israelites apart from those pagan cultures and probably to show that they were a holy people, cleansed outwardly because of their inward spirituality. Additionally, under the New Testament and Covenant we are no longer bound by ceremonial or the civil laws in the OT such as this one. I too have one meaningful tattoo and have used it to remind myself what’s truly important in my life as well as a way to witness to others who see it
If you had them before you became a Christian I think it is ok. If not I would not take the chance, just to be sure. Some do it because their kids get kidnapped and abused by muslims so they tattoo a cross on their arms. I don't see harm in that. Just so they know they belong to Christ. God bless you and your family. Love and peace to all.
I have a full sleeve all the way to my hand and my fingers. Now i got these when i was younger in my faith. And the REAL questions you should be asking is, "will this cause someone to stumble?" And "are you doing this in vain?" Id be lying if i said i never ever presented myself in a way that allows for people to see them, and it strokes my ego, and it can and has led to pride. Theres nothing wrong with tattoos i dont think. But it can very easily lead to sin and problems with you. Christ judges your heart, not your appearance, but your appearance is an outflow of your heart. And ive learned that along my faith and walk with christ. I dont plan on getting anymore for those reasons specifically. My faith is in christ for salvation. My faith isnt in not having tattoos. For those who do or dont have tattoos, lift up your brothers and sisters IN christ. Not yourselves and for your own image.
Christ followers DON'T NEED to have tattoo, after they receive Jesus Christ. My body is the temple of the LORD, I rather be a blessing than be an stumbling block to those culture that consider tattoo as sign of psychological defeat at some point in life.
I feel like you're glossing over the objections too easily and are reading your opinion into the verses instead of out of the verses (eisegesis instead of exegesis).
Why do Christians get so wrapped up in outward actions when we are free from the Law? While I don't like tattoos and I don't have any, it could be a great way to talk to the tattoo artist or as you say, start a conversation. What I tell my step-daughters, a meaningful tattoo is thing, looking like a convict is another.
nancejo Would God tell his people not to mark themselves if it did not have hidden pitfalls and traps that pull at the impressionable youth? I can not speak towards tattoos interfering with righteousness, as the Blood of Christ overcomes all. Actions have consequences.
@@OutrageouslyMoney Does not having tattoos add to the work Christ did for redeeming your soul? How much do you need to add to his work to get into heaven?
nancejo You are trying to argue from a negative position, trying to reason yourself around a clear commandment. We can not know what effect the tattoo has but we do know that we are instructed to not do it. Shall you argue with God or mold yourself to his word? Shall you place your desire above God’s? Our desire to make the rules is what started this whole mess of sin.
Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? -1 Corinthians 3 :16 If your body is God's temple then you are basically vandalizing it with all sort of "art" which is a big NO. Am I 100% sure that we are not allowed to have piercings and tattoo? No. Will I do it? No. If you are unsure, ask "What did Jesus do?" Obviously Jesus did not have tattoos and piercings :p
As I think about it, I have no tats but my son does.. This bodies are perishable and we will receive glorified bodies. Tats won't send you to hell for putting them on your body, but unmarried sex will.
Years ago the University of Florida did a study on why women get tattoo's. They found women who got tattoo's had daddy Issues. Women who put piercing all over themselves had horrible trama in their young lives. I suspect you were just a knucklehead. And I mean this in the nicest possible way.
If you use this argument it inevitably can lead to facial tattoos or more and more tattoos. Everyone has a different line and so I say no. Not to mention the cost of them. God help us.
That symbol on your shoulder has origins in paganism and is called a triquetra so you've been misled into thinking it's a symbol of the Holy Trinity somehow. However you are correct in the statement think before you ink but in all honesty tattoos are not allowed based on scripture and you should not be teaching a different meaning. James 3:1 Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly
Dont let others convictions become yours,it also prohibits cutting your hair,im assuming those that take the Book of Leviticus out of context dont cut there hair 🤔🤔🤔
And all the verses that the Bible speaks against vanity ?? Because in the end if there is such a strong debate about tattooing being a sin or not, it is because you cannot reach a conclusion. So the moment you decide to get a tattoo, what you're really saying is "I don't care if it could be a sin. I'm going to get a tattoo anyway." Even worse, you use God as an excuse for this by disguising your own vanity as a "tribute to God". "The Bible does not speak directly about tattooing" God shouldn't have to write a different Bible verse for every way that vanity manifests itself. Furthermore, the video did not present any logical or scriptural arguments to allow tattooing. He just tried to take the things you think and disguised them as truths.
Right so we do what the latest thing the culture is doing? Im not bringing the judge train but using the culture is doing it so its ok sounds like a teenager telling his Dad, but everybody is doing it.
I can tell that this topic is a bit uncomfortable for you and I admire you addressing it. There was a video made by Todd friel from wretched radio about the same topic and he came to the same conclusion. Think before u ink.
Isaiah 44:4 They shall thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank. 5 “I am the Lord’s,” they’ll proudly[a] say, or, “I am a Jew,” and tattoo upon their hands the name of God or the honored name of Israel.
Christians must stop judging each other. A christian is free, and a tattoo has noting to do with loving each other, so it is not relevant for the faith. Btw, Leviticus is given to the Jews, christians are under Jesus' law
"Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit."
@Jeffrey Carlson What if I dont have tattoos?
@Jeffrey Carlson last time I looked......lol. Amen
Personally, i wouldn't get a tattoo. If I'm looking at my body as God's creation, who am i to mar it in any way? I'd rather have His word in my heart then inked on my back or arm.
The Bible is pretty clear, and we should not take habits from the world. But I am my judge only

I'm hoping the t shirt I just ordered will strike up a conversation. 😉
Is it right or wrong? I have never heard a Christian say getting a tattoo is a sin if they got one while they are a Christian...just sayin...

A tattoo on a christian should be no different than a mural or signage on a church building.
IMHO.
Good answer to a tough question. Nicely done. Is that a tattoo on Jesus's thigh in Revelation 19?...
Tattoos are ugly. I don't understand why people would mark themselves up with ugly tattoos
Mema Del Rey I got one to remind me to brave even when I’m scared and that Jesus is always there with me.

What if my partner gets a ring tattoo on her ring finger as a symbol of love and marriage in place of the usual ring?
