My only slight additional notes are: picking up a diopter to focus closer would be nice and T2.9 does impose limitations at inconvenient times which makes the lens less "run-n-gun" friendly but no less capable especially with good light.

Wow.... Gorgeous. Do you ever have overheating issues with this cam? On longer takes???
I haven't personally, but oddly enough I've never really dealt with fuji overheating on me. I'm careful when I know i'm in situations that could overheat, but it almost seems like every fuji user has a different experience.

yes it does a bit, but with anamoprhic the crop sorta only applies to the loss of the vertical frame
lack of anamorphic look , I would say. That could be spherical lens with top/bottom black bars...
you know i'm allmooosttt there with you, but having shot the footage myself I can see/feel there are some very clear anamorphic touches, but the public doesn't know that so I tend to agree with you.

Hello John, Im going to start doing documentary so I need the most versatile Lens possible, do you think the 16-80 is that limititive for video? The 16-55 doesnt haver image stabilization and its cheaper if I buy the h2s with the 16-80 kit Lens ... Apreciate it! Thanks
You might wanna take a look at Tamron 17-70 2.8 if you're ok with a 3rd party lens.

In the xs 20 you can recording open gate and use a anamorphic lens, but in the xt5 not? and the xh 2 ?

@johnstamw have you tried using this lens on X-T4/5? Is it any good?
Those cameras don't have open gate mode and I'm curious to know how usable this lens in those settings.
I have used the lens with 16:9 and don't love the width of the aspect ratio, too wide for my taste on most projects. I think you would probably need something that can record a boxier aspect ratio.

if you have time, I would (and maybe others) appreciate you sharing some comparisons between the two - 16:9 on X-T line vs full gate - in the future videos. It would influence weather someone with older Fuji cameras purchases this lens. :)
