    If you hear a grinding or groaning noise while your vehicle is rolling, it might have a worn out wheel bearing. A worn bearing can allow the wheel to wobble, creating a host of other issues. To save yourself from more headaches down the road, replace your bearing right away. This video shows you how to install a new TRQ wheel bearing and hub assembly on your 2011-15 Chevy Cruze.

      Outstanding! One of the best how to videos. I was not looking forward to this job but this video made it a snap. Only thing left to do that was not mentioned was dust the brake pedal with a microfiber towel!! 😂

    Best walk through I have ever seen on a DIY repair. Usually they only take you through taking everything apart and then just say put it all back in reverse but you walked us all the way through. Thanks! Really helped

    I watched both this video and the control arm replacement video this morning, just did both simultaneously. It was amazing, I had all the right tools ready to go and had all the advice I needed on how to handle the trickiest parts. Thanks for making my day go smoothly!

    Very good straightforward video. Just need all the gear you have to make it that easy. Premade hubs are a good idea in some ways. My old Holden Commodore did nearly 250k kilometres on the original hubs.Lot better than every 60k repacking

    Great walkthrough! I have run into one little hiccup though... what model number are the hub bolts? I've searched everywhere online, and can't seem to find the correct bolts for my car.

      So here's how it went wrong: Couldn't get the retaining screw out on the driver's side. Rounded off the Torx head, then tried to get it out with a screw extractor. The screw extractor snapped.
      Ended up drilling out much of the head, then banging the rotor with a mallet until it bent what was left of the screw head and I was able to finally twist it out!
      😩

      @@TigDegner Glad I can help! I found out later that something called a hand impact driver would have been very helpful in getting that screw out.

    Can I take off the axle by hand without an impact gun?

  • @AlainSDL
    @AlainSDL 2 роки тому

    Angle meter what? LOL OK, so if I don't have that, or know how to use that, is a regular torque wrench going to work?
    Also, is it necessary to dissassemble the brakes? Or can they be taken off as a unit and reinstalled as a unit. I saw a video for the same repair on a Ford and they were able to remove the rotors with the brake calipers attached - just one move - then return the whole kit and kaboodle afterwards.
    Also, thanks for this great video!

    Brake caliper holding bolts are actually 74 ft-lbs + 60 degrees

    • @charvakkarpe
      @charvakkarpe Рік тому

      Brake bracket, not caliper. You'd snap the caliper bolts if you tried that.

    Would this be the same for the 2017 Chevy sonic ? From Everything I can see. It looks identical. And I need to replace mine and I’d like to do it myself.

      Same way to take off and on but the actual wheel hub and bearing are not the same, which suxs ass it's a different part

    Put the new bearings on. Still hearing a humming noise that gets louder the faster you go. New tires, alignment was done with the new tires. No popping or clicking noises. Just loud humming at speed. Could it be a bad bearing?

  • @gmracingcv

    At 3:45 - What type of ratchet did you use to get to the top bolt on back side by the CV boot? My ratchets are too big to fit around the boot

    • @charvakkarpe
      @charvakkarpe Рік тому +1

      I just did the job and see what you mean. I used a shallow 18mm socket with a 1/2" wobble extension. You need to go at it from a slight angle, which the wobble extension makes possible.

      If you're having a shop do it, plan for about $300 per wheel.

  • @baronvongrimm4780

    Real easy when everything just comes apart this easily. When the bearing and CV joint aren't fused... which very common. The video is bunch of crap because it doesn't address a very very common issue. And you know this

    • @nsmturbo5902
      @nsmturbo5902 2 роки тому +2

      Mine came apart just fine. I've replaced several dozen hub assemblies on other vehicles with no issues. Unless your dealing with a neglected or extremely worn out part, you shouldn't have too much of an issue
