Succession’s Endgame: The Winner is...

- Опубліковано 28 чер 2024
- Season 4 Episode 4 of Succession left us with some surprising takeaways. Early in its final season, Succession has finally delivered the bombshell it teased in the very first episode. As the dust settled, the contenders are off to the races and there’s a good amount of time left in the final season to finally deliver on the central question the series set up when it began: who will succeed media giant Logan Roy - which of his children (or other inner circle members) will have what it takes to seize power? And has what we’ve seen over the four seasons of the show changed that picture?

Heads up! Error at 14:19 you have Willa not Marcia
I believe Logan's prediction or assessment (you are not serious) will win. By the end three of them will be booted out of the company.
95% chance Greg comes out on top, but top isn’t CEO of Waystar. See comment below.
maybe the real succession was the friends we made along the way
If made = lost/betrayed

It’s the Gregs we made along the way

Greg winning would be the equivalent of the Game of Thrones ending
Spot on lol
Greg has the best story...
I don't really think he has the opportunity to win at the moment but it still would be far less insane than Bran winning the Iron Throne because one random dwarf from an extinct house who everyone hated just said so
an ending doesn't have to be narratively satisfying to be realistic ending, if being the one percent is just about networking, then Greg ending on the throne as a result of being in the right place at the right time, and everyone else taking each other out, would be pretty fitting
Greg somewhat has no Logan-fear.
Succession has no winners in my opinion. It's about generational trauma. It'll probably end up with all the siblings repeating the mistakes of their parents. Kendall becoming the CEO is not a "winning"- he didn't want to end up like Logan and yet he most likely will.
Even game of thrones had a winner ultimately.
It’s hard to call house Stark the winner after Bran’s kingship really…
Kendall wins if he walks away…. Like really. This show indeed about abuse, attachment styles, inner children, trauma and narcs.
Well duh. Wining in this context means getting the bigger prize. The succession. But it’s obvious that nobody in that family will ever be happy unless they own up to their shit and decide to work on it by doing therapy and self reflect. But it doesn’t look like any of them is willing to do that.
Kendall’s initials being KLR makes the killer remark more ironic 🎉😂
can't believe I never noticed that
Cause they're bullshit
KLR was a killer. He killed the waiter to avoid hitting a deer.
I still feel like even from beyond the grave the motif of “Logan always wins” will end up biting Kendall in the ass. I just don’t see him getting away with dragging him through the mud.
Yeah there's no way a Tragic character like Kendall is getting a happy ending.
@@thandondlovu5392 i dont know if id call kendall rising to the top and becoming his father a happy ending. To me, that IS a tragedy because he would give away his humanity and family for a goal he might not even really want
@@gangstalker5461 THIS. Getting Waystar Royco is not a win.
@@thandondlovu5392 Kendall becoming a CEO is not a happy ending. He didn't want to become like Logan and right now the plot suggest that he will.
@@hatifnat13 he will never be like Logan because he has to think what would Logan do. He naturally doesn’t think that way. That’s how it seems like he’s always playing pretend and playing it wrong.
One place Logan had boundaries was about the family, I don’t think he would run his own fathers name through the mud that way like Kendall is about to. He’s a moron tbh
Succession is way too smart and intelligently conceived to ever let Greg end up in the top spot just for the lulz. It's fun to speculate, but that would never happen. It was always going to be Kendall, and this will unfortunately crack the fragile sibling truce.
Greg is far too feckless to end up in the hot seat and has far too few friends in high places. Who among the old guard would back him? None of the siblings like him. Tom has been metaphorically castrated following Logan's death, although getting back together with Shiv could instil him with slightly more clout. The only way I can see Greg ascending, is if the siblings need a fall guy for whatever reason.
Greg will be second in command. It’s not feckless to see what Logan saw in Greg. He’s not entitled or spoiled like his kids, Greg comes from very little with a absent father, like Logan (who had an abusive father). To Logan, Greg is a Roy - why else let him build up and show his loyalty. Greg’s bumbling morality will dissipate, his confidence will grow.
@@theManishMuse After Greg's testimony before Congress, I don't see him in any top spot that would "appease the markets." He will be used, manipulated, wooed and discarded - in any order - depending on the mood or whim of the sibling he is dealing with.
He will wield a small pull for a bit depending on what his Grandpa Ewan (who disinherited him) decides to do. But, he's a joke to everyone.
And I love Nicholas Braun. He's elevated the character, but that's just fantasy to think the writers would suddenly abandon the brilliance of the show or the character's portrayals for something so slapsticky.
I disagree. I think subtlety Greg has become more and more competent at playing the “game”. He’s sort of the dark horse because the siblings have each other in the cross hairs believing each other to be the biggest threat, Tom lost his primary backing, however Greg is the unassuming player, who actually has a familial tie as well. If you’re not careful, a few well played moves and alliances and he could make it happen.
@@slayerduval1 but Kendall after all his shamanigans? No. Don’t underestimate the Greg question mark. Greg will be the last one standing in the bloodbath of the siblings.
I know that you showed WIlla as Marcia by mistake... but the fact is, she is already a winner, so kinda fitting.

Season 4 of 'Succession' is essentially the final season of GOT we should have got
How does that make sense?🤔😂edit:unless you’re just saying game of thrones season 8 should’ve been as good as succession season 4? Idk lad game of thrones had WAY more things they had to do in their story than succession. Like game of thrones had way more plot lines, characters, and things they had to wrap up. Now game of thrones season 8 was awful, but I think you’re being a bit fair saying it should’ve been like succession. Two totally different shows
I think what he means is in got it was decided in one episode who would sit on the throne and although it was not who was expected it was not a good written "result"
I take it that he means we are getting a more satisfying result with Succession vice GOT
Unless Cousin Greg ends up on top. Then it's Bran the Broken all over again
shiv being played by her own father, brothers and husband makes me upset
makes me warm inside
They all contribute to their own pain. I think Tom unironically might be the only trustworthy person in her life. Reminder that Tom only betrayed Shiv after Shiv’s repeated abuse. He doesn’t inherently want to hurt her like Logan.
Yes. maybe they don't realise that their narcissistic father's patriarchy mentality roots down deep in them
shiv is not innocent and not above the mess like her family. She is just as selfish, greedy, and conniving as anyone in her family
@@onetallgirl78 maybe the commentator is upset by the fact that she gets screwed over not because she's an incompetent piece of shit just like the other siblings but because she doesn't have two ballsacks between her legs
I love how the writers subverted expectations by having Logan die so early on in the season. So much could happen in between now and the final episode, so I wouldn't be surprised if the most unexpected character, such as Greg, takes over the company.
Greg feels so much like Bran.
I'm most impressed with how every single person involved with the show was able to keep it secret! The cast threaded the needle perfectly in interviews.
@@maggierobertson2962 In some ways yes, but Succession never had obvious favourites as for who will win in the end. Everyone has an important role and/or attribute that could make them the CEO. Bran was just out of nowhere. I dont believe enyone thought of him as the king inthe end even as a joke. If Greg somehow becomes the CEO I believe they would explain it in a proper way and foreshadow it. And that goes imo with whoever they choose. I believe in the writers
Most definitely. Number two after Kendall
if greg wins with how this season went it would just be terrible writing
After that last episode, I had a thought they might fast-forward to 20-30 years where Kendall is like Logan, at a party alone.
I was actually expecting a God Father ending at the end of season2. But then gradually lost faith in Kendall at season3. Now let’s see what will happen at the finale🎉
No sadly, the rest of the season is each day after Logan’s death. Maybe in the finale.
Another thing I'm not seeing talked about is Roman's full name, Romulus. Those who know the Roman's founding myth knew that Romulus murdered his brother Remus for power. I have to wonder if his name isn't foreshadowing for Roman's character, if in a metaphorical way and not literal.
I mean, who doesn't regress a bit when dealing with the loss of a parent? As someone with experience, let me tell you the way this show is handling grief is one of the best depictions I've seen. Shiv isn't a good person but it seems tone deaf and cruel of you all to basically imply that she is weak for "getting emotional" after hearing that her dad just died! The character isn't real but people in your audience are.
We're talking about a storyline, not audience's feelings. Logan asked for a killer with experience, Shiv is not that. The end.
Precisely, although the Roys aren't the most moral people, they still react the same way anyone would upon losing a parent.
@@lookhowshegobbledthat Agree. I was inclined to root for Shiv early but has little experience, has never been shown to make a shrewd move or have strategic instincts and when she was in positions her weakness was and continues to be Tom even after his brutal betrayal.
@@lorraineioannou Yup. And if Kendall chooses to go full killer and betray Shiv and Roman, he could easily use Gerri and Tom against them. Gerri deserves a top spot over the other kids and Tom will lick the ass of whoever is in charge and willing to betray his ex for it. However, an expose of the waiter's death and his addiction could be his downfall in the end. Unless he can keep Shiv Roman Marcia Colin and whoever else knows/is involved quiet.
@@lookhowshegobbledthat watch the trailer for episode 5. Gerri says “they have no idea what they have coming to them”…. I doubt she’s one any of their sides.
You guys cut to a shot of Willa when you brought up Marcia.
They better pull the entire video for one mistake
if u read b/w the lines then willa and marcia are the same characters
The character dynamics on this episode were immaculate - Kendall & Roman coming together; Shiv and Tom feeling like two lost boys in the woods; Willa and Marcia making bank on Logan's grave; Gerri, Frank and Karl pulling the strings from behind; Greg trying to find a new betting horse on Marcia - this season has been perfect.
I saw a tweet that said in the story of Romulus and Remus, Romulus (Roman) decided to end a debate by stabbing his brother with a sword (shiv), thought it was neat
The Romans were constantly bedeviled by succession wars up until Nerva, the first of the Five Good Emporers. The Five Good Emporers would name their successor and elevate them to share power so that when they passed away succession was a fait accompli. Ironically it was the philosopher emporer Marcus Aurelius who ended this institution by elevating his idiot son Commodus. I feel like at the start of season 1 we saw this dynamic with Kendall taking the de facto reins. Whether Logan had genuine doubts about Kendall or he just could not cede power because of toxic narcissism is an open question but I feel like the Five Good Emporers play was what he initially had in mind.
Yes I’ve always thought Roman’s name was very symbolic as it conjures the two brothers founding myth for the birth of Rome. It’s a city founded on civil war, nurtured at the teet of a she-wolf
I'm afraid that Tom will be back, exploiting Shiv vulnerability now as she's pregnant and sidelined by her brothers.
But seeing him being rejected by everyone he tried to suck up to (even Greg kind of succeeded with Marcia) and chewed out by Karl of all ppl in the last episode was funny AF.
But is she still pregnant? Why did they make her fall down those steps?
I really want all the kids to just walk away, tbh. I think it's the only way any of them could heal from the abuse at the hands of their father and have any hope for a "normal" or healthy life.
Here here
I wanted each of them to make their own company
Mediocre or otherwise but their own thing
They could finally be free from their parents narcissistic abuse
agreed, the only way to really win the game is not to play
None of them would be able to make a decent go of the job anyway.
All this speculation about 'who will be CEO at the end' is dumb and reductive. Will there even be a company to run? Will all the protagonists even still be alive? Do they still care about Royco? These are the more interesting questions to me.
that's the happiest ending i can think of for them i agree and it's also what i want for them. unfortunately i think at the end of the day, succession is a tragedy, and that ending is also the least likely.
They all just need so much therapy.
Every character is meticulously flawed and it’s so fascinating to see fans develop rooting interests. Shiv seems to have developed the fiercest defenders and I am intrigued.
I think it's down to Sarah Snook brilliant performance, how Shiv's character to a point, kept at arm's length of her father's manipulation, and She's a middle child.
Poor Shiv, sidelined and weakened by her womanly pregnancy. I think she’ll take over Pearce and battle Roman at ATN. It’d be regressive and very cynical if she depended on Tom for power like their original plan. Tho it is Shakespearean.
@@TititoDeBologay shes the last child
@@theManishMuse It's not because of her pregnancy. Matsson laid it out pretty clear that he wants a yes-man and someone who can endure pain and tough love in the role of CEO. No one demonstrated those qualities more than Tom the "pain sponge," and frankly Shiv is the opposite-driven by ego and pride, and a need to be revered.
Marcia would be so livid about being confused for Willa and I’m here for it😂
Shiv being screwed over time and time again will harden her, and if she can learn to control her impulses then she’ll become the most ruthless “killer” of them all
Theory time: Roman (Romulus) will kill Kendall (Remus) with help of Shiv (a weapon). Then Roman (Romulus Augustus, last Emperor of Rome) will be at the head of dying empire and a Germanic Barbarian (Mattson) will pick apart the company for scarps. Like how Odacer became King of Italy instead of Roman Emperor.
The Empire (Waystar Royco) will become a echo of past.
I agree that the empire will die with Roman as the last official leader, and so will Kendall (a watery drug induced suicide). I think you are correct…. That is a brilliant theory, but what about Greg….? How does he fit in?
There is clearly something pivotal about his character as he is there at all the key moments. I have a feeling that more information will arise about Logan’s wishes which include Greg in some way, as Greg was the one who insulted him etc and earnest his respect. I am wondering who Greg is in the analogy?
@@user-du3nx4kp6o greg is the storyteller
I see the parallels you’re making but I’ve gone back and watched the season 4 trailers a few times now and it feels like Roman loses it. This season is set in 10 days. Each episode is a day and the final episode seems to be the presidential election. Roman goes outside and stands in the middle of the street where there are tons of cops with riot gear on. The Roy’s don’t go out to where the general population is let alone a protest or riot. It looks like he snapped.
@@meowski617 also, Greg gets all the best lines in the trailer and is featured heavily. I just rewatched it…..

That would be best for society but since when has that ever been a good reason for powerful people to do anything
@@PeterEhik if it makes business sense...
I've thought the same thing for a while now. I mean, why would someone that wants to buy into the network also want to buy into Cruises and Parks?
It feels that this has been the case of every power hungry tyrant who fails to name a successor among his children. If it happened to Charlemagne, it could happen to Logan Roy
@@BartScantlin Why does a company that sells books also wanna buy into cloud services, digital home entertainment, hardware, alexa, space programs etc? Because they can, because the goal is to own everything, doesn't matter if it makes sense or is good for society, no the goal is always monopoly
I kinda think nobody will be the Successor in any way that matters. What all the kids want is Log's approval, to be anointed and respected by him. And he's gone, so they'll chase it but it will just get more and more hollow. Also with the company potentially being sold, they may have to find a new way to measure how much they've followed after their father.
I think this is the best episode of the season so far (and I honestly thought it was over when they killed off Logan). This show is pitched/written/performed to acute perfection! Best show I’ve seen since “I May Destroy You” (I am late to Succession!)
May I Destroy You… never seen but I shall venture down that path
It’s a tragedy. Honestly I can imagine another Kendall manic episode that could end with his literal demise.
I just want to say regardless of who takes over at Waystar Royco, that Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age
Showing Willa while talking about Marcia took me out 😂😂
I think it is going to be Kendal but he will become what he hated most which is his father. Amazing series
Tom may have worked to climb the ladder but now he's back or worse off than he was at season 1.
I think Tom did what he thought was most beneficial to him, siding with Logan Roy since he always seems to come out on top. But then, he dies at the worst possible time and suddenly, Tom is vulnerable again. He gambled that Logan would live long enough to see him as a worthy successor. He gambled wrong.
He's sired a Roy child tho, so if Shiv doesn't terminate or miscarry, he is back in the game.
@@magma4168 but not in the position he wanted.
Idk how this was ever a good take, even knowing the ending
You guys made me realize Roman might be the most complex and therefore, best character in Succession.
Yes he is...and probably the most abused sibling. The cage story and how Logan randomly beat him...gave us a look of what he had to endure💀
I'd say Roman is the one who genuinely loves the others the most
He’s definitely the most dynamic of the siblings.
He’s the neediest and most broken sibling
Kendall is most complex and best character in succession
This episode sums up everything I've ever wanted to see In a show about Alexander the Great, and how his last words on his death bed as his General's, Warlords,Sergeants and Leader's from across his empire begged him to officially name an Heir in fear of Rebellion breaking out and destroying the empire, those words were rumored to be
To Kratisto or "THE STRONGEST".
His empire never was united after his death as it broke in Civil war, maybe a cruel jab that if he couldn't rule his empire then no one would.
That scene with Kendall being given the paper carried the Weight of a Prince being given the Crown of the King,or a Roman being Sworn in as Emperor.
Logan Roy,like Alexander in real life, couldn't be beaten while he was alive and he always found a way to win and secure his power and people who were loyal to him were rewarded (like Tom and Greg),but as soon as he's dead those 2 shot straight down to the bottom of the totem pole with Tom getting it the worst.
Tom went from sitting on the private Jet next to the King, and now he's considered an Unloyal man who only married into family through Shiv
,despite being the one who actually has accomplished something in the eyes of Logan by protecting the Business with the offer of taking the fall for Prison.
But pay attention to Roman's look on his face after his short talk with Tom.
He doesn't want to follow Kendall, and he knows it was his efforts that not only gave them the Swedish Deal but the future Presidential candidate as well.
Shiv got screwed but it's sorta her own fault for not taking after Roman and actually sitting through some Management Training so that her job resume doesn't easily look like she just got a job due to her Daddy owning the company.
Marcia was cold Blooded when it came to dealing with Kerri, but I wouldve been like Greg and just kinda been disgusted with her Showing up at all knowing she's not really important to anyone, but she could be apart of a missing piece of Logan's will that no one else knows about.
If Shiv can look pass the former betrayal and manipulate Tom into her team, assisting her to win the throne, she really has a chance. Tom completes her to become a killer. She always thinks of herself as morally superior to her brothers, Tom, however, is a despicable person with no moral concerns, together, they will be the killer.
I like that angle. But I honestly don't think Tom, as despicable as he is, could be the killer. He's too much of a fence-sitter to make those choices. And Shiv, as cunning as she is, hasn't shown she can do it, either. Maybe that'll change. Maybe Shiv being pregnant will help turn her into the killer her father needed her to be. But even if she is, I don't think Tom, Kendell, or Roman would let her succeed without a fight.
I can't believe people actually have the nerve to call Tom's move a "betrayal" after everything Shiv has done to torture him and belittle his importance. She flaunts her cheating and says multiple times how she doesn't love him, and anytime she hatches a plan she's flippant and dismissive about securing Tom's role at the company. Tom finally saw the light that he owed no loyalty to Shiv, played the game for himself, and he deserved the job 1,000x more than Shiv.
@@CJStew06 Shiv has betrayed Tom multiple times, and Tom has betrayed Shiv one big time, it is still a betrayal action even though the other side started it.
Tom went from the bottom all the way to the top. He knew how to play the game and Logan never seen him as incompetent, because Logan knew that Tom can be a killer and has ties with the family.
I've heard that David Benioff & D.B. Weiss secretly took over to write the last few episodes... so: it will be Greg.

Whatever happens, I do think that Tom and Greg are gonna ride off into the sunset together. Don't know if Shiv will be there too. But the show has kept that bromance going since the beginning of the show and it has only grown since then. I'm leaning towards Gerri being the one to come out on top, Roman probably grows up and becomes the most rounded of his siblings. Kendall becomes Logan and Connor might do something separate from all of them.
Yes, but do Gerri and Roman reconcile? I think so.
@@jennifermcgee8621 Probably from what I know about the show they are the second biggest duo after Tom and Greg. And I can't see in the finale season that the show has them destroyed.

No. I zoomed it. It was pre-crossed out. (It is not underlined) why would you underline if something is already written
@@mrinalrohilla2654 why would you start crossing something out with an underline from left to right?
If you look closely at the paper Logan did a lot of weird things for emphasis. He put a giant rectangle around a small paragraph.
"don't go not now" breaks my heart :(
I'm on team Shiv. I still think that Kendall is too emotionally fragile what if they bring up Kendall killing the waiter as a tactic to take him down and make him spiral. It's worked before and I see Shiv doing this because she can be the most emotionally callous.
I think the issue is that the shareholders have no reason to buy her as CEO, she's a pretty skilled manipulator personally but we haven't seen any evidence that she can be successful professionally
Kendall was also pretty rough with her in the room, "It sure as f*ck doesn't say Shiv!" so I could see her spite being stirred up.
Kendall didn't kill the waiter! Reckless endangerment at most.. 😅
Shiv has no successful corporate project, skill, or speciality for integration for a large corporation. She is also overcompetant and messy, and has no accountability for her mistakes.
Shiv still has very little experience with the company. If for some reason she was appointed the stock price would go free fall. The board wouldn’t allow it.
Gerri is the most well equipped to be the CEO BUT...she is not that young and maybe in 10 or 15 years another war of succession will happen (if the deal with Matsson falls out which is something Kendall wanted)
Hallelujah, finally another TV analysis! Please more of this and less of the celebrity gossip.

Kudos to The Take for not putting any sort of spoilers in the title. Would never have known what this video was about until I clicked.
14:18 "there's also Marcia" *shows Willa*
Greg won’t win but I won’t be surprised if he ends up as the kingmaker
Let us not forget that they agreed on buying PG from the Pierce family for 9bill, and how they wanted Shiv to lead the deal because they trust her. Also the show is based on the Murdoch family and on it, the daughter was always left out unitl she cashed out and founded her own media company. I have the feeling this might be in the works for her. If she really knows how to manipulate people with her pregnancy, she can make Tom switch sides and get inside info, but I think she`s too vulnerable. She has the capacity to being a killer, but she never follows through. Kendall appears to be a killer but he fails to deliver, he doesn`t listen and is too self destructive. Roman will rise up and push his brother to the side and based on the promo poster for this season, they will remain together even if they don`t like each other, meaning the GoJo deal won`t happen.
Probably is gonna be Greg, as Claudius became emperor because his family and the army thought he was a puppet.
Claudius is a good analogy - but not coz he’s the unlikely bumbling successor. But becoz there was no one left. Julia had like 4 or 5 sons who had to die, as well as his older brother, his brother’s children. Geez. So yes, the Roy trio take each other out and there’s no more Roy’s left but Greggy and his grandfathers share in Waystar.
@@theManishMuse yeah I was trying to say more or less the same. Greg is good choice if you are more interested in avoiding your brothers to have the power, instead of makeing team for taking over.
Even for the seniors managers Greg would turn in a good choice because in this last episode we saw what they really think about Logan’s children.
Greg is a threat without being a threat.
Can you explain please?
I think that's what makes him a dark horse candidate to succeed Logan. He's shown that he can be ruthless and he clearly wants to be part of this world of wealth and privilege. I also think he'd be happy to help the Roy siblings destroy one another, leaving an opening for him to take. That would be exactly the kind of move that Logan himself would approve of. The fact he wrote Greg's name on that sheet of paper is a clue I think will come back into play in future episodes.
Not much of a threat really... Greg (and Tom) are the epitome of "constantly failing upwards". They've both relied far too heavily on Logan and Logan alone to get where they are and have burned far too many bridges with too many still-important people in the process of getting where they are - at least the sibs all have other important people they might be able to fall back on for support (Kendall with Stewy, Hugo and potentially Frank; Shiv with Sandi; and Roman with Mencken and potentially Gerri if she realises he was a pawn in the whole firing her thing). Greg's only real tangible ally right now is Tom and it was made quite clear in the last episode that no one in the "inner circle" has any real respect or time to give for either of them. Based on Jesse Armstrong's other shows that he's created and been involved with, I doubt he'd actually have Greg win *except* in a deeply ironic way where, say, he becomes CEO of a company that's been completely gutted of anything remotely worthwhile and is ultimately subservient to Mattson in the exact same way he was to Tom and his uncle/Greenpeace wins the lawsuit Greg brought against them which leaves him functionally broke.
love this show and appreciate your take on it, however I noticed on 2 instances that when Marcia was mentioned, Kerry was shown on screen
Sure as f*** wasn't Shiv!
My unhinged scenario for a semi happy ending is Waystar goes down in flames; no one wins, but everyone is finally free. All the kids cash out and go to therapy; who knows if they'll be happy one day, but maybe they'll find some peace. They meet up once a year at the karaoke bar to celebrate Logan's memory and demise, and learn to enjoy life like actual real people. Connor doesn't become president but he becomes a viral meme and gets his own doom prepping tv show with Willa as his cohost. Greg weasels out his cut of the inheritance and keeps failing upwards in some other company. Tom loses everything, he and Shiv get amicably divorced and split custody of their child, he goes back to Minnesota and rebuilds his life away from the Roy madness. Gerri becomes CEO of a new company and runs it with an iron fist. Frank and Karl retire. Jeryd Mencken dies in a hole. Marcia goes back to Milan to shop forever, but now just even more lavishly. In the last scene a dog pees on Logan's grave like he peed on the floor in episode 1- it's like poetry it rhymes.
Lmfao..funny but not tragic enough.
I love your ending and i also agree with you in the sense that here nobody is winning if they don’t grow out from this obsession
Kendall will always come up short because he never had the ability to see long term hence he would always fail….
Roman is dealing with problems with his masculinity and doesn’t even respect himself as a person plus He is a pervert
Shiv is just a bad person she just wants to be boss to be boss she’s very envious and disrespectful she’s the smartest person in an empty room…
Tom is the snake Who plays weak but might come out in the lead cause no one saw him coming…
Gerri is The only real choice she hits all the check boxes She is strong and it’s very quick on the fly… she saw romans flaw in the hotel..She saw shiv coming a mile away After the Roman pic… I think she has the goods will see
I never really understood why Logan was so hell bent to just fire her. What was the reason he gave for that?
Because she was involved with the D pic’s…remember nobody knows she told Roman to stop sending her picture’s first… then when Logan found out he even said Gerri is disgusting and a million years old… that shows Logan felt she was hideous he’s used to younger women his son should be used to even younger women… Logan couldn’t wrap his mind around that why would Roman be sending her D pics
@@BartScantlin He was testing Roman's loyalty, punishing him for rebelling, AND cutting him off from a non-Logan source of support and perspective in one fell swoop.
@@AstraeaAntiope Great insight, but I still feel he was disgusted because Gerri is an old woman
@@WarTheory I agree. I think that was part of the punishment: rubbing Ronan's nose in something he found shameful.
I mean let's face it: Kendall is the main character of the show. So there's only two options here, either Kendall becomes "a killer" like his father and ends up on top while losing his soul and ruining his relationships in the process, or he fucks up once again as he has throughout the series and the company is sold for parts. Given how the people involved with the show keep hammering down the whole "Succession" title as a promise thing I'd bet Kendall gets the top spot. Also it is a much more interesting choice, dramaturgically.
As for the siblings, Shiv has already been sidelined from the get go by her brothers and she has absolutely no possible credible plays to make in order to get back in the race, and most importantly she doesn't have the track record as a Waystar executive in order to be respected inside the company. As for Roman I think it's pretty clear he has already began to develop a sort of humanity redemption arc and he doesn't even care about the top spot enough to go for it ruthlessly, he has more of a "Why not me? I could do it" attitude. Roman just wanted his father to care for him and feel involved while Ken wanted his father to see him as an equal and become a true big player. That's what gives him the drive to go for everything no matter the cost. He knows it only can be him, and the document has given him the proof and confidence he lacked.
Roman also takes a shining to that evil presidential hopeful. He has the killer instinct in bringing propaganda and race baiting fears to the American people. That presidential race will be important and it’ll put him and Shiv on opposing sides. Not everything has to be about Waystar! ATN vs Pearce! Who will succeed Logan, not in inheriting the business but in building their own killer legacy!
Kendall is a mess..i don't want him to win and i hope he will pay for the death he's responsible for.
Kendall is definely the main character!!!
Roman always gives up and goes with the flow to avoid conflict. Shiv and Ken have no issue backstabbing but I think Roman takes it all at the end after he finally unleashes.
I think people underestimate Roman. He's smart and can charm people, and act like an everyman more than his other entitled sibs. Shiv never wins, so there's no reason to believe she will now. Kendall has the most biz experience, and looks at the figures, something Roman and Shiv don't.
Greg was on Logan's list. He could theoretically end up on top, with "a bunch of Gregs" to to the work. And Connor doesn't care.
If Kerry is pregnant, does it matter? Kendall has two children, Shiv is pregnant too. And Marcia was married to Logan while Logan had the affair with Logan. I think Kerry is out of the picture. Marcia made that clear when she gave her the bag of her stuff the day after Logan died.
Marcia: look how far you’ve come
Willa: well, look at us both
Marcia: bombastic side eye 😅
You mistakenly showed Willa’s image when you mentioned Marcia huhu😢😅
If the writing retains its cynical worldview, I think it would end with the Roys 'losing' in some way and have some institutional investor buying them out.
Alguém sabia que o Kendall tinha "Logan" no nome?
Did anyone know that Kendall had "Logan" in his name?
KLR
We kinda suspected because of that random guy with his initials...KLR
His middle name is Logan
in the first 3 seasons I thought maybe Greg for shits and giggles but if they do that now it'll be soooo GOT S8 and we can't go through that AGAIN
When 'Greg Question Mark' was said in the episode, my husband burst out laughing and yelled, 'Please, YES!' 😂😂😂
Also, special shout out to Tom's line of, 'He died fishing his iPhone out of a clogged toilet....' Im still laughing at that line 🤣🤣🤣
I feel like Kendall will be leveraged out by the dead cater-waiter Sword of Damocles. One of the people who knows about that is none other than Marcia. My theory is that Greg will be clued up by Marcia about the dead cater-waiter and use that info to leverage Kendall. Remember Greg and Kendall spoke right before Kendall approached the cater-waiter and that scene kind of screams Chekhov's shotgun. Greg may not wind up in the top spot but his meteoric rise will continue. As bumbling as Greg appears to be his Machiavellian instincts have served him at every turn.
When did Marcia find out?
@@BartScantlin Her son witnessed Kendall coming back from the death pond. She was in the room when Logan dropped the bomb on Kendall.
Rooting for slime puppy Roman!
What Greggy wants, Greggy gets!
Please, not Greg. He's basically Bran Stark.
Nevertheless!
Great video! A solid breakdown of where every candidate stands at the moment in the Waystar Royco power struggle.
But after watching this video and re-watching the last couple episodes, I'm convinced more than ever that NONE of the Roy kids are going to end up at the top. In the past three seasons, we've seen Kendall, Roman, and Shiv get their chance. And at every turn, they've done something to undermine it. I feel like Logan really pushed to see which of his kids was the "killer" he needed them to be. But Kendall is such a mess. After actually killing someone by accident, he's still not completely there. And I see him crashing and burning with this chance he has. I also see Shiv going full scorched Earth in attacking him and Roman, thinking she didn't get a fair shake because she's a woman. And Roman already proved he couldn't be as ruthless as Logan needed him to be when he couldn't fire Jeri.
I think at this point in the show, the one with the best chance at winning out is Cousin Greg. He's proven throughout the show that while he may seem like a bumbling push-over, he's a lot more ruthless than he lets on. He's willing to do the dirty work, but he's also willing to go behind the backs of others and stab them if necessary. He tried to use that piece of paper put the thought in the heads of others. He's also shown that he really seeks this world of wealth and privilege. And he's willing to cross lines to get what he wants.
I think it would be fitting and very Logan-esque if Greg just let the Roy siblings destroy each other so he can slip in. That's not just a killer instinct. That's exactly the kind of ruthlessness that Logan would approve of.
Roman actually fired Gerri...that's why she is mad at him (and gave him the cold shoulder after Logan died)
Yes..he felt bad about it but still did it
It makes sense..but it's not tragic enough..i want to see them destroying each other for power as they should..and one of them(i think roman because he's the less likely) getting the throne..
I think it will be Tom. He is smart, duplicitous, and crazy and knows how to manipulate and keep his cards close to him, unlike other people. Ughh! I cannot wait for that ending!!
I could see him and Shiv re-allying to accomplish that.
Greg could be Tom's Trojan Horse.
I dont think the shareholders like him💀
You were right
Gerri becomes CEO & Greg is her assistant
All I know is that the Airport they filmed on was not in Teterboro, but Atlantic Aviation White Plains NY or HPN. I can't wait to tell my coworkers that I saw them on this show lol.
To me, Willa is the biggest winner🎉
Kendall (CEO) Gerri (COO) and Tom.
Makes too much sense
There's no way gerri is kendall's coo. Maybe frank since they have an actual relationship.
i really think none of the above. for some reason, Marsha has been on my mind ever since she showed back up episode 4. She was main driving component to season one. I think us seeing less of her through the last couple seasons is to throw us off her trail. something is cooking… maybe :)
I don’t see it🤷♂️But then again I’m still not even sure what exactly her motives or plans are
@@raymondsims7042 For sure. Honestly don't think I see it either, but she sure does know ALOTTTTTT of dirt. Plus she got her son a job with waystar during her negotiations with Logan. They are alll F'in snakes in the hen house now.
Maybe Marcia will set it up for her son to take over. After all he has held an executive position in Waystar for years.
@@jennifermcgee8621 exactly! that is what i was thinking of.
My money is also on Kendall. In last episode he clearly started to act like his father, he even have the same second name.
I agree. And even if it is Kendall, is he really winning? It will make him miserable. He's already miserable.
I love the narrator so much on this channel
Absolutely wonderful voice
I always wanted Shiv to win, but she has been the worst character in the last 2 seasons. She never wins, lol, not once. Because of this season pacing, it should be Kendall, period. Any other character would require genius writing to be satisfying.
Shiv sucks. Who tells her husband she doesn’t love him and then gets hurt when he leaves her? Shiv does.
I am inclined to agree, but… the writing IS genius, along with everything else, so I’m strapped in for the ride! And I am SO gonna miss this show!
@@senhorsee completely agree with you!! The writing is always phenomenal on succession
Kendall is responsible for a death..fuck him, he can't win!!
Kendall is occasionally nice to Greg. He realized Greg was homeless in the beginning, and gave him the huge apartment. When Greg speaks at the Maatson retreat in Norway and Lukas tries to mock Greg, Kendall steps in and tells Lukas that Greg is his cousin and a Roy. I know, not super nice, but we aren't watching nice people here. And Greg has become adapt at duplicity and blackmail. He's sort of at Shiv's level now.
You should do a video on Parks and Recreation's Chris Traeger and his mental wellness
Shiv has enough dirt on both Ken and Roman (the cruises scandal, the death of the waiter, ...) to destroy them and burn Tom on her way (he knew about the cruises). She could team up with Gerri (who knows where to look for proof and has lots of d*ckpicks from Roman) and become CEO
I think you guys made a mistake with the editing, you mentioned Marcia but it Willa appeared instead. Anyway, great analysis, love this channel :D
I thought of the parallels to The Godfather a few episodes into season 1. However, I saw Shiv as Michael.
Because of where the series is in the season by Episode 5, based off the Monomyth or "Hero's Journey", the rest of season 4's story after episode 4 would be the beginning of act 3. This would reverse Ken/Roman and Shiv's positions. By the end of episode 4, Roman was already on the way down because of Ken, who was busy making another big mistake. I see Shiv making it to the top in episodes 5 to 9, with 10 as the epilogue.
I think Shiv could win out. But I also think she could do herself in, as the Roy children always seem to do whenever the opportunity arises. For a while, she had her father's favor. But like Kendell, she just hasn't shown she has the kind of killer instinct she'd need to be in that top spot. Even if she did seize it, I don't think she'd keep it. Something tells me Tom will find a way to undermine her.
Considering the Roys can't really seize the position of CEO due to their pact with the Furness family, i think Tom will make amends with Shiv and the rest so he can be installed to the position as a puppet while the family continues to pull the strings from the position of Chairmen, as Logan did towards the end of his reign.
I predict that the company will fall apart without Logan & everyone will turn on each other until there’s no one left- their greed and ego will get in the way. It could be an ironic (but a bit unsatisfying) end to an entire show dedicated to the idea of finding a ‘successor.’ If they there is indeed a successor, maybe it’ll be Tom?? Hmm! Cant wait to see it play out!👏👏 what a great season so far!
Logan crossed out Kendall...no one will change my mind💀 He was going for Roman in his last days and even a screenwriter in the after episode podcast said that she believed Kendall was crossed out
fortunately Kendal will still be king
I hope it won't be kendall..too predictable!
I think the company gets picked apart and no one ends up on the throne
Richard III usurped his nephew's crown but not for long. Henry Tudor took it from him brutally with inside help. So if Richard III is the influence, Matsson will eventually win, with inside help
12:05 michael corleone
what is the background music when they first talk about Henry the 4th
I think Shiv is going to go for the jugular revealing the info about the caterer’s death, and Kendall is going to unalive himself. I think that may backfire on her, leaving the door open for Roman.
WOAH!!!! Wtf? 😂😂how did you get to this mate?
@Jason8823 I agree with you I can see Shiv doing that and Kendall spiralling pulling him out of the running for the top position.
@@raymondsims7042 I just looked at a few factors. When Shiv feels left out or betrayed, she usually pivots and goes hard on the opposition. Roman is driven, but not ruthless enough to reveal the manslaughter to the press. I also took a look at the poster for season four, which shows a plane in the clouds (Logan) and Kendall on top of a building.
@@Jason8823 WOW. Holy 💩 this sounds incredible 😂😂but extremely dark. I’m hear for it and I like your theory. This should be a very interesting next couple of weeks🤝
@@raymondsims7042 Thank you, Thank you 😊. This show, especially for the last season is so unpredictable that it could go in so many directions. We’ve seen the kids united the past four episodes and it’s all about to unravel into chaos.
Geri may be the shareholders' choice although Tom would be an interesting one. Shiv may be happy with that (her baby"s Dad being CEO...sets her baby up to succeed him in future)..and so it goes on...
Mark my words - the remainder of the season might be a good recap of the previous 3 seasons. Starts with Kendall ready to step up, then gets passed over for Shiv, then Roman comes up with maturity and depth to look like a better contender - to end up with Tom betraying them. However, this time, it could be mini Tom. It reminds me of One Piece. There are parallels between arcs pre-timeskip and post-timeskip, and each parallel repeats the theme but something is different.
Even now, it looks absolutely far-fetched to see how Greg could possibly navigate through ALL of the siblings, but I believe in the writers. That is probably why Nicholas Braun said he was sad the show is ending but the finale is spectacular. He's sad because he may be getting the crown at the end, but no further season to show us his bumbling antics.
Nah! It’s more like arrested development. Kendall is Michael. Connor is Gob. Shiv is Lindsay. Roman is Buster. Tom is Tobias. And Greg is George Michael.
Do a Take episode on the Korean Series Taxi Driver
imo it's probably kendall but in the process he's gonna lose a part of himself
Cousin Greg
Nevertheless!
Greg the egg, good ending
he's so useless pls don't speak this into existence
I was really rooting for Tom😭
It's Tom. Tom is going to win Succession. The peices work to well
Sorry but Greg ascending the throne is on the same level as Bran being named King in GOT. That would genuinely piss me off
Why does this channel keep pushing itself into my sub box?
not you saying marcia at 14:20 when it's a picture of willa 😭
