Honestly I have never once found a durable Taekwondo shoe that is good for the Taekwondoin who practices outside a lot. TKD shoes fall apart so fast and are made so cheap. You always tear a hole in the bottom or the shoe just rips apart. SO I have always used regular tennis shoes or like Nikes and they hold up longer and feel WAAAAAAY more comfortable. Who else finds it annoying that martial arts companies have not made a durable long lasting martial art shoe for the outside person who shadow boxes and does poomsae on cement and dirt and grass all the time?
s'up alex just subed to your channel; wonder whet belt and dan are you on i'm having trouble with the 3rd itt form (poomsae : taugeug yi jong) an though maybe you could help
Awesome! Thanks for the support! I am just a 1st Dan because my TKD school closed down years ago and I've been on my own. But my old instructor may train and test me for 2nd Dan next year :)
i know taekwondo uses blocks and punches etc as well but its focus is primarily on kicks. taekwondo are like boxers with their feet lol i just pickedup taekwondo again today played around with footwork etc, but my main base is Muay thai/Boran, and then Sanda, and wrestling and judo and silat. Today i rediscovered my love also for taekwondo and after doing some shadow work myself, i decided to youtube taekwondo stuff and came across this. ive seen you before too in Shanes video, that was a great spar you both had.
also i need some help with my taekwondo front kicks if i may ask ? whenever i do the front kick (not push kick but snapping kick at the knee and retracting) i can do it fine in Sanda as Sanda uses both the push kick and front snapping style kick but when i do it from taekwondo state of mind, soon as i snap the kick for that front kick my leg (thigh more specifically seems pointed bit outward and is a bit twisted out instead of straight and my kick goes out at a weird angle almost like an oblique kick angle. i dont have this problem at all with Muay thai and Sanda front push kicks n when i snap the kick in Sanda, and was wondering how i can fix this ? maybe my stance is too narrow in taekwondo ? cus in muay thai i use the squared and sometimes a bit out at 45 degrees stance, and Sanda i always go 45. but taekwondo is more bladed stance and i dont know if thats messing with the kick. any advice ? thank you.
Hey Alex, I just started Taekwondo about 3-4 weeks ago. And i have to say i think i have found my true love haha. It's definitely something i will stick with, and even though i'm just a newborn white belt, I already aspire to be a black belt. However, I've been very active in many sports prior to TKD and, of course, a few injuries and one surgery comes with that. But! I am not worried about any old aches to interfere with my TKD future, but i do have one concern that i thought i would just comment and maybe you would have any experience, knowledge, or maybe just some advice. If not, no worries. As i said in the beginning i am pretty new to this particular martial art, and i believe i have already found an area of weakness for me. My hips. Anytime i do kicks such as a roundhouse or any maneuver that requires rotation of the hips. It hurts, and then later that same day, it really hurts. Should i be concerned? Or just my body not use to activities such as this just yet? Not sure if you have had any personal trouble with your hips or not, but do you know any specific stretches i could integrate into warming up? I enjoy your vids, thanks! (: (lol it's a long comment i know, sorry)
It could be your body not used to the movements since kicking and TKD in general works different muscles you're not used to working. But also I have a recent tutorial with my friend Donavan where he goes over some stretches to improve kicks, those stretches also help open up the hips so I recommend giving those a try as well :) here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/S_4ZfXpAriA/v-deo.html
Alex Wong Okay, i will definitely try some of those! And by chance is your friend Donavan made out of rubber? Lol, he's just so flexible. And thanks for replying :D
@@SportProgramming i had to stop at green. It turned out I had a fractured vertebra along my spine. It didn't really hurt until I started doing the reverse kicks. So no more TKD for me 😕
If I could hopefully learn Tae Kwon Do, maybe I'll be able to add it into Boxing to complete both fighting styles. Just gotta find a Tae Kwon Do Master that can help me.
If you have a little space in your bedroom or living room. You don't really need a huge space to just work on bouncing, check motions, nice and easy kicks :)
my room is to small but I think the place I us now will work then also quick question probably a stupid one what does checking mean and thanks great videos I just started watching your videos but I've watched a lot your are awesome😀
Mrs Alex Wong, you are amazing sis, all my life I was training in box but seeing you perform those incredible high kicks making me want to learn Tae Kwon Do. You really inspire me sis. I just hope it's not too late for me to learn Tae Kwon Do because I'm 35 and body is conditioned for Boxing.
