It was a genuine honor to participate in this interview and I hope it provides enjoyment to those who watch it. Collecting is an emotionally motivated passion and it’s a pleasure to share that passion with others.
Kevin - Thanks so much for sharing your collection with George & our audience. As you can see by the comments, our audience loved to hear from you! We hope to have you back for more videos! --Team WatchBox
I really enjoyed this interview. I think we are in strong agreement as to what motivates us to buy AND wear our beloved watches. Thank you for sharing. I wish I knew you. I would love to chat over lunch and hear more.
Enjoyed watching this clip and kudos for setting up a well balanced collection, may you enjoy them in good health for many years to come. Wishing you the best
Kevin clearly has an exceptional taste in time pieces. His knowledge of Patek (and all other luxury tie pieces) is exquisite. This video was a pleasure watching - I hope that you guys get together for a sequel!
Kevin seems like a great guy, obviously intelligent & no doubt with the rarity of wisdom. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I couldn't agree any more with your view. Best WatchBox collectr's conversation ever!
Thanks Scott - that is high praise! We’ll keep trying to bring in more interesting collectors... and would love to have Kevin back in Philly to shoot more content with George! -Team WatchBox
Great interview GBB and Kevin. An impressive collection for sure. Would love to see you rock the G Shock in a Tux. Own it my friend. Own it! The most valuable advice throughout the entire interview is to "collect what you love". I have subscribed to that mantra for many many years and would also offer an additional nugget which is to collect what you can wear regularly. It's not quantity it's QUALITY. And you my friend have accomplished both. Well done.
Very interesting interview I have been collecting for around 10 years and have been lucky enough to have some very nice watches, it is interesting how your thought process can change in regard to what you think about before buying or trading for your next watch. My primary criteria has always been I have to really like/love a watch before buying it but in the first few years of collecting I never considered how easy or hard it might be to sell a watch when I didn't want it anymore. After having trouble selling some pretty expensive pieces I started considering value retention and desirability of the watch at least in some part of making a buying decision. As this guy states Rolex and Patek are the safest bets for value retention an ease of resale. I will never considered a watch as an investment but it is nice when you want to trade or sell one that you get a large amount of your input back out of it. That is why I have chosen to stay away from some crazy mechanical wonders that fascinate me but also concern me that I will never get rid of them if I tire of the novelty of a funky piece. Classic designs are called that for a reason, they never go out of style. Also amazing to me how steel sports watches have become so popular and watch diameters are returning to more reasonable sizes. It will be interesting to see what the trends are 10 years from now.
Recently purchased the 2018 Rolex GMT Master ll Root Beer as my engagement watch for our wedding to come and absolutely couldn't be happier while enjoying this as my daily wear. Currently posting review-videos while enjoying this amazing experience and we are so happy that this Rolex has become a part of our wedding story. With that being said thanks for the wonderful watch interview. Keep up the great work, we really appreciate it!
Thanks Jay - we love learning about all of the stories behind our clients’ collections and we are glad to be able to bring some of them to you! Thanks for watching! -Team WatchBox
Amazing episode! You can see and hear the passion for watches. Outstanding collection, talking grail watches with someone who owns well over 6 figures worth of watches!
Yeah! Go Pack go! Season ticket holder to the Green Bay Packers is awesome! My grandma lives in Green Bay, and she has been a season ticket holder for 45 years!
Another superb production folks! Only thing that distracted me slightly was the pulsing lights behind the scenery (LED driver/ballast out of sync maybe)?
Cool interview. He knows what he likes and understands that most of the time watches aren't really investments but more a way to park some wealth in something enjoyable that you can potentially get most of the cost back out of. I don't get owning that many of the same watch, but if that's what makes him happy then why not?
I understand why people would sell some watches so they could buy more but I have more than a few watches and I wouldn’t sell any of them. Even the ones that I don’t wear they all have such sentimental value. But anyway really found this video interesting.
The interview was pretty interesting, but the camera direction wasn't, IMHO. For example, when they talk about and look at an amazing movement, and George even holds it for the camera to see, why on earth would you not zoom in on it? And if it isn't possible in the moment, film a closeup shot afterwards that you can later cut in.
WatchBox Studios A thumbnail picture of both the interviewer and the collector, with the watches on the table. This current thumbnail seems too ‘advertisey’
If it were “so typical” there would be more than a handful made. Was it so typical of the Irish to have Dublin on the dial? Was it so typical of the Arabs to have Mecca on the dial? Your comment says more about you than it does about Jews
G*d damn, what a watch collection! Kevin must have connections with Govberg. He’s got the hot models like the Rolex Daytona 116500; Patek Phillipe 5522 Pilot’s Calatrava and Nautilus 5711.
“So, why do you primarily focus on Patek and Rolex you’d say?” “We’ll basically, I’m a sheep. Everyone says these are the two brands I need to own. So I do. Why choose something only I may like when I can have something that everyone likes and hypes up? I need gratification from recognition. Oh, and the resale is very good. Did I mention I also drive a 911?” “Kevin, stick to the motherfucking narrative or your days of receiving a new stainless Patek or Rolex in under 16 months are over! Crew, stop filming, we’ll need to reshoot this segment.”
Mayer doesn’t seem to be the most empathetic guy in the world. His eyes are all over the place instead of the interview partner. Pretty strange. Pretty pretty strange...
Hmm... maybe because he’s a professional watch trader and not an interviewer by trade? We’re proud of all of our “talent”, and they continue to get better with practice. Thanks for watching! -Team WatchBox

Thank you for the "You buy and collect what you love" statement. I think that is getting lost in horology.
Thanks for sharing the love.

Great to see/hear someone’s passion & life experiences with their own collection & how it came about👍🍻
Can I ask for the professional view on what is a smaller watch? Sub 36 or sub 40 or perhaps sub 34?
Amazing collection.
Really love to see Kevi's passion around his timepieces.
Please keep it up WatchBox!!
Best,

Great Video! Good advice for watch collectors, like myself. Looking for my first Patek...
Such a down to Earth guy. You can tell he’s self made.

George kicks ass as always and Kevin is very well spoken, great presenter and in his element. Not to mention a killer collection.. Good job guys
Great show, what an interesting talk. What also caught my attention is the hublot picture in the background, may I know what that is?
Good interview, dialogue, history, and conversation. Nicely done gents. Lipson loves his collection and loves horology. 👍
Cool watches and discussion. The G-shock anniversary is gangsta
Phenomenal episode! Thank you

Too bad we can hardly see those watches :(
Nice collection.. but what watch did u get by selling the paul newman? Damn, i would nv sell a pn if i ever had one.

More closeups of the watches and maybe a graphic as each watch comes up.

About the 5711 : "Last week one sold at Christie's for 52 500$!". That aged well ahah
"Sir, can you please put Jerusalem on the dial?" LMAO So typical.
So typical of what?

George Mayer reminds me of Quinton Tarantino
What's Mr. Lipson's position on global warming?

Sneaker collector too!? He’s alright in my book
"your competitor hodinkee" was a bit ambitious
Not really, Goverg are bigger than some people think.
Maybe as a media company, but I’m sure we buy, sell, and trade many times more watches.
