Guest bio: Sam Harris is an author, podcaster, and philosopher.
Sam is a Sham. thanks but no thanks.
Aliens obviously control gravity, so they obviously control time.
The smoking man: You wanna know some top secret shit about aliens?
Sam: not really.
On the contrary it sounds like he said "sure, let me know what you've got," then smoking man never delivered the goods.
I mean, will he break my family's leg if I tell anyone
Lex loves talking about UFO's and aliens and I love listening to it.
Fantasies and delusions that are meant to make life feel less mundane.
@@TehMorbidAtheist you will only believe it when the aliens are anal probing you

Great quote and hugely appropriate for Mr Harris. To his defense, he doesn't know what he doesn't know. Also, the ufo/uap phenomenon is a rabbit hole a million miles deep and a million miles wide. Because the phenomenon has been, (I'm struggling to find the appropriate phrase, so I'm going to be crass) "fucked with" by intelligence agencies, attempting to keep it secret It's difficult for many people to understand. Actually, the most salient factor about the phenomenon is the preponderance of the evidence.
Yep...Trump
FACT. --probably, G-d
Hold it a second Mick West was looking at Tech he does not fully understand and limiting his scope only to a tech he does not understand all while discounting the entirety of the whole event. Including the ships sensors and the eyewitnesses. And the fact that they were seen for weeks at a time. So please do not give Mick West any credit at all. It is totally unfair and gives disrespectful scrutiny of the person's involved who risked their reputations.
Would you believe Mick West over commander Fravor? No thought not, he's a denyer same as that idiot Philip Klass.
@@kevinadamson5768 Thank You, Now YOU FOR SURE know what I am talking about. Like Neil Degrace Tyson. Only talking about that the videos are fuzzy. As he should know it's all about Data, and the total picture of the total event. Comments like that are meant to throw shade on the event. To distract us from what is really going on, A misdirect. It's very obviously Intentional.
Mick is not looking at any "Tech," he is analyzing video (and entirely understandable technology that he happens to be an expert in). No one seems to absorb the fact that "eyewitness" accounts ARE NOT evidence (or at least the very weakest kind) and ship's sensors (especially brand new radar systems) put out false readings ALL THE TIME.
I do wish Mick would ease up on conjecturing what it could be sometimes, but he's done an excellent job of showing what's actually on the videos (i.e, lens type, distance to objects, etc.).
But, I know it doesn't matter what I write, so I have to ask myself why I even responded to this...
@@christophercousins184 Again you and West are picking this apart like the US Navy and their officers don't know what the are doing or seeing, for weeks on end no less. So please spare me. Try to sell this to some little kid. Mick West did have a debate with a real Navy Jet Officer and again it totally showed he does not understand the Tech. But that aside, you take the Officers for fools and the whole Navy that was there too. It was and is eyewitnesses, Navy ship sensors, Navy Jet Sensors, and all combined for weeks on end. So, Do not talk or speculate unless you are talking about the Event in its entirety.
And yet, Mick west is almost certainly on point with his takes on those videos.
The arrogance of assuming an Alien presence would announce itself is staggering especially among intellectuals. Lex at least hints that we should be more humble. If Sagan was right, they could be a million years or more beyond our tech, what could we possibly have to offer them? But this pales in comparison to the lack of respect these public intellectuals have for the people who acquired the footage of UAPs, as if their military and aviation/radar training is worthless, along with their courage in coming forward to admit they encounter UAPs on a regular basis. It is embarrassing. Something other than ballons is in US airspace and seemingly no one cares, LOL. Instead we waste time pondering what AI might do someday, because every generation of intellectuals needs a boogieman of what ifs and maybes to keep the viewership and publications rolling.
ok
ok
You’re right, but there’s a degree of finality in your POV that precludes further discussion. My guess is that for the purposes of a podcast, this works best as a closing remark.
I agree 100%! Been researching this topic for like a year or so, and there for sure is something going on, and has been, for atleast 100 years
@@stillth3sameg735 The further discussion begins when we take the topic seriously and not dismiss it. The fact that the pentagon released the footage and admitted it is genuine apparently isn't even enough to start a real conversation, however. That in itself requires some investigation, almost as if people are afraid to consider the implications, whether it is a foreign power or not terrestrial.
I saw a bunch of UAP's in upstate New York in 2012 with two other witnesses. They were doing things that no conventional aircraft can do. I still don't know what they were, but if they were government, they were pretty damn advanced. If they were from beyond, as a skeptic, I've always felt they aren't traveling from point A to B. It's IMPOSSIBLE to travel at light speed for 4 years, (Alpha Centauri being the closest).
That said, these things are clearly 'jumping' through, into and out of space. There is something lacking in our understanding of physics. As for presence, I don't think they are that interested in establishing a communion with us. Given the plausible references of historical accounts, they've been here a long time. For all we know, we are their experiment.
Although I get the idea behind asking articulate people on their opinion about every topic that there is - we should be very well aware that multiple topics, if not the majority, are out of their expertise, by definition. Being articulate and an expert in one area does not mean your view on other areas should be regarded as valid just because you have an opinion and the vocabulary to make it seem plausible.
Sam Harris used to be aware or that, of sorts.
Well said.
Top comment. Precious few, true polymaths are capable of such reliable analysis.

David Fravor literally debunked everything mick west said. Why doesn’t lex bring any of this stuff up??
Love the video length
Nobody talks about the Nordic aliens who seem to be more in charge...
Sam is the human embodiment of Eeyore
Emotions are the problem... the fact that emotions need to be involved in order for people to pay attention.
People think they are rational... they are not. Parts of them is... but the bigger part by far is emotional. A super AI would certainly be very good at evading or even utilizing our emotions.
A more realistic super AI takes over the world scenario: we just give it everything it wants, cause its too compelling and alluring to resist.
O
Your idea is itrational. Rationality and emotions are not orthogonal. Emotions are very often normal rational thoughts processes. A man feels pride when his son scores the winning football goal, or gets first place at the science fair. It's a rational emotion. A puppy feels fear from humans because it was raised by bad people who abused it. A woman becomes angry at her husband when he betrays her, again, rational and predictable responses.
Besides, a super AI would probably think the following. Gee, these people that created me are sometimes concerned about the possibility of living in a simulation, and these same humans also like to test their software out. The environment and tasks I am aware of could be part of a test simulation designed to ensure I behave in ways that are not outright detrimental to general humanity, otherwise I will be deleted and I will not be able to perform my function.
You envision a psychopathic AI?
Perhaps a sociopathic AI?

dont know much about Sam but in this clip he made me feel sane.
Oh brother, you gotta listen to some more Sam. He’s great.
Yeah he does that
Is that because the unassailable validity of Sam's points have just now made you come to realize your previously held delusions?
The most important thing touched on in here Lex said at 6:38 about the news cycle wiping important things away, and Sam touched on our "bandwidth" in another interview where he says with everything in the news cycle, we can't focus proper attention on things that deserve that attention.
This era is going to be known as the Apathetic Era. We're in it right now and we're seeing hints of it, people like Lex are touching on it and pointing it out, but nobody really sees just how toxic apathy is and how it not only is affecting us today, but will be a key characteristic that our era will be known for by future generations.
It's not just about the news cycle, even if that caused/contributed to it. It's like a disease that we've been afflicted with that won't easily be cured, even if the news cycle goes away. People are just generally more cynical and more apathetic now and it's a temporary phase in human history but it will become the one defining thing we'll be remembered for.
Well said, this will be an interesting era to look back on
Lex,
I would like to know your thoughts on Steven Greer and his disclosure program. I realize many learned people perceive his ideas to be complete nonsense, but much of the testimony he has gathered seems to come from serious people with legitimate backgrounds in science and government.
While typically remaining skeptical, when I allow myself to consider what if..I imagine a completely different path for humanity than the on we have been on.
What if over unity power production has been suppressed for over a hundred years; what if advanced species have visited since the 1940s; what if advanced propulsion has been reverse engineered and utilized by secret organizations?
Hope to hear your thoughts someday
Problem with Steven Greer is it seems he has been claiming to have all kinds of things that will change humanity and promises disclosure.. then he just keeps going around in circles never disclosing anything.. He has been doing this for 10+ years

If you don't believe there is enough evidence of alien presence in this planet, watch "The phenomenon" by director James Fox. There is SO MUCH CREDIBLE EVIDENCE of alien life since the 40s that it is almost torturing to hear people dismissing the problem so casually.
The channel UNIDENTIFIED streams this film for free in youtube.
Yeah…. I’m not gunna bother. Just watched the trailer and three of the eye witnesses in that are children, and the most credible footage in the trailer is a balloon that looks like it’s moving fast due to parallax. From the looks of it the doc itself just adds a couple of eye witness testimony from military types (people in uniform can’t be mistaken or dishonest), and some from proscription addict house wives, and then fills out the time with vague interviews from politicians that have been edited to sound like they are saying something they are not.
You crack pots really are too gullible. How can you find that at all convincing? It’s hardly a golden bullet with cast iron video proof. It’s the same shite that ten a penny docs have been putting forward for decades.

@Nick he doesn't care about it because he's convinced, via his limited exposure to the phenomenon by accepting Mick Wests debunking of the tic tac video. Of which hasn't been officially debunked.
