imo she is mimicking him, Sansa is kind of famous for adopting the physical appearance of the people she wants to be like, so true to form she starts wearing dark hair and dark cloaks because that's what Littlefinger wears and she sees Littlefinger as somebody who is an expert at the playing the game and wants to be like him and learn from him. and doing it in a sexy way is also, in her mind, her first step towards manipulating somebody, and she feels safe practicing on him because she knows Littlefinger wants her alive to marry.
incase you didnt realise why Oberyn wanted the Mountain to confess so bad (i didnt get it until i read it somewhere lol), it was because he wanted him to admitt Tywin gave him the order. With that Dorne could rightfully go to war with Kings Landing. A lot of people get annoyed with him for not just killing the Moutain but he had good reasons to want a confession from him and Tywin
They could simply just side with daenerys once her dragons become big enough and she reaches westeros, people always lose when they let their emotions get the best of them. Now the mountain might become worse and torture and kill more people, Tywin did get what he deserved in the end.

So the problem is he was so dead set on getting him to admit everything he did that he didn't end up avenging anybody and it actually got him killed and could have gotten Tyrion killed. 🙄 He was a very good character but I I hated that ending for him cuz he was doing so well and he had to give the f***** time to catch his breath. The only way he was going to win that fight is with speed and he was out speeding him and dodging him left and right. But the fact he got a couple of hits in and then left the man recover enough to talk. That's why he's dead

If i was him and was going to stand there waiting for a confession i wouldve stamped on his hands to break his fingers or something (to make sure he couldnt attack and kind of a torture thing to get the info). I would say they are close, for the exact reason u mentioned as well as that they teach and learn from each other , Dani is different with her similar with how she is with Jorah. Dany grew up with her weirdo brother and was treated like property her entire life most likely. Yes she's a "queen", but I think that now that she's her own person, she wants human connection too and to have people she loves and can trust around her. I'd say that missandei, grey worm and jorah are her new found family. She treats missandei like a little sister from what I've seen.
I think people say that because truthfully there is a huge difference in power and dynamic of their relationship. It’s like saying Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were friends. Sure they were. But there was a power dynamic there that makes that friendship driven more by survival than true love and care for one another. It’s odd when those lines are blurred.
In the books they say twiwyn was the worse smelling corpse everyone had seen, that everyone could smell how rotten he had always been on the inside and that it didn't matter the fortune spent in roses at the funeral people couldn't stand being near it. Tommen threw up
If I recall even Cervei gets angry at the maester about the smell and the maester basically says "I did literally everything I could 🤷♂️", and I can't remember if it was intentional or not but his corpse is left with a smile on his face that is actually described as humiliating and stupid looking for what was perceived as such a stern and powerful man.
The interpretation of Tyrion is so different in the show! In the books, it's not 'self-defence', he just blatantly murders Shay and she dies smiling because she doesn't want to fight back against him. In the show they wanted to keep Tyrion likable (and with a good relationship with Jaime) because he was a fan favourite, but Tyrion gets so much darker in the books. For example, a hugely important detail that was entirely omitted from the show is that the REAL reason he murders Tywin is because Jamie reveals to Tyrion that his first wife Tysha, who he thought loved him until he found out she was a whore, was ACTUALLY just a common woman who truly fell in love with him. She was NEVER a whore! But when Tywin found out that Tyrion had married her (a commoner), he made Jamie tell him that Tysha was a whore that Jamie paid to pretend to love Tyrion. Then Tywin had Tysha taken to the barracks and raped by his guards after which he forced Tyrion to rape her too. When Jamie reveals this to Tyrion in the dungeon, that is really what sends Tyrion into the darkness and resolves him to kill Tywin. (not a show spoiler because this is never revealed in the show, which I think was a hugely wrong choice!)
The fact that they had Jamie and Tyrion's last interaction here be all brotherly and loving is one of the changes I hate the absolute most. To me, it's the beginning of them taking away characters' depth. The revelations in that last exchange (the truth about Tysha for Tyrion and "Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy for all I know" for Jamie) haunt the characters through the last 2 books. This whole ending started the flattening of Tyrion's character into just good rather than being a multidimensional character who could do violent and selfish things, and flattened Jamie's character into just loyal to Cersei, rather than giving Jamie an existential crisis that causes him to lean away from Cersei. Just drives me crazy that the show slowly started making characters all good or all bad when the source material made every single character as complicated as real people are.

I’m not gonna lie Tyrion lost me after season four it’s like they didn’t know what to do with him. They should’ve made him more villainous GRRM wanted him to be more of a justified villain because he had a lot of reasons to be angry and do what he did in the books

Exactly! And she proved early on that she will not stand for lying and deceit with Xaro Daxos in Qarth. It would actually be off-brand for her to suddenly start forgiving people that betray her now.
Plus, he had time for telling her himself instead of letting go hoping nobody would find out. He could have been sincere with her, but he never told her. So he ended up getting caught, even if not being a traitor anymore
While I agree Jorah should have told her way earlier himself, I feel he didn’t really defend himself that well. Maybe he was shell shocked how things turned. But, she basically absolved her followers back in season 1 before she went into Drogo’s pyre. She said anyone that remains gets to start over and follow her. I think Jorah could have said I was on the fence but when I saw you after the fire with the Dragons that is when I feel to my knees and fully committed himself to her. Not sure if it would help, but he could have made a stronger argument.

Brinne's fight is my favorite fight of the show. They start "knightly" like, using swords and relying on their armor. But fighting isn't clean and glorious, at the end, they are just two people struggling to survive against one another, they are dirty, sweaty and bloody, using every inch of their strength to beat one another to death, and that's brutal and horrific. The performance of Gwendoline Christie is just perfect to encompass that, her screams are chilling and real. I love that scene so fucking much!
So in the books it was very obvious that shay was only with Tyrion for money and riches. She kept asking him for it and when she would get new fancy stuff from him but he was so blinded and didn't even think she could betray him. In the show I feel like she was a different character were she actually loved him until he told her to leave and called her a whore.
Tbf in the book Tyrion betrayed her first - he repeatedly changed the terms of their contract without her consent, and also took back the payment already rendered. She arguably both liked him AND wanted her fair payment. Plus he told her what happened to his last wife, so she knew going against Tywin was a fate worse than death.
I definitely think that’s a pretty good read on their dynamic in the books. There’s also more of an uncomfortable power dynamic because book Shay is far younger and because she doesn’t love Tyrion, is sort of just trapped in this really dangerous work situation. So she’s very openly just after his money, but also he’s blinded by his feelings for her and this power dynamic he’s created where her survival depends on this much older man. She betrays him, but also is crying and begging for him not to hurt her when he kills her, if I recall. So the whole scene is really different.

The old man who Bran meets has a super interesting backstory that isn’t elaborated on in the show. His name is Brynden Rivers, aka Bloodraven (because he has a red birthmark on his face in the shape of a raven). Bloodraven was the bastard son of King Aegon IV aka Aegon the Unworthy. When his bastard half brother Daemon Blackfyre rebelled against the throne, Bloodraven stood by his true born brother, King Daeron II, and killed Daemon and two of hei sons in battle. When Daeron died, his son Aerys I became king and Bloodraven was his Hand/Master of Whisperers. He used his abilities as a warg to spy on people. There was a common saying in this era, “How many eyes does Bloodraven have? A thousand eyes and one” since he lost an eye in battle. He was also Hand to Maester Aemon’s father, Maekar, but after he died, there was a succession crisis. Bloodraven promised Aenys Blackfyre safe passage to King’s Landing so he could make a claim to the throne, but then Bloodraven beheaded him anyway. Maester Aemon’s brother, Aegon, became king and sentenced Bloodraven to death for the murder of Aenys Blackfyre, but he chose to take the black. Maester Aemon went with him. Bloodraven ended up becoming Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, but when he was in his 70s he went missing North of the Wall. People assumed his died, but we know now that he became the Three Eyed Raven. Right now, he’s 124 I think. Also, back in season 2, Arya told Tywin about Queen Visenya Targaryen, who had a Valyrian steel sword called Dark Sister. Bloodraven was the last person to wield Dark Sister and it’s probably in the cave with him now, but we never actually see it. Bloodraven probably killed a bunch of Targaryens in order to make sure the Prince that was Promised would be born (it’s theorised that this person is either Jon or Daenerys but who knows). He’s the ultimate puppet master and has been manipulating everything for the last 100 years. Later in the show, we hear about a sellsword company in Braavos called the Golden Company, which was founded by Bloodraven’s half brother, Aegor Rivers, aka Bittersteel. Bloodraven and Bittersteel were enemies, just like their mothers (their mothers’ houses, House Blackwood and House Bracken have been rivals for hundreds of years and Bittersteel and Bloodraven inherited the feud). Bittersteel was a part of Daemon Blackfyre’s rebellion and was the one who cut out Bloodraven’s eye. He fled to Essos with the rest of Daemon’s children and founded the Golden Company. Removing just the "pillar" wouldn't affect the sex drive, but removing the "stones" definitely can reduce it, but not always, and not necessarily completely. It doesn't change someone's natural sexual orientation. It just impacts the degree to which those feelings might be felt. And of course sexuality also has different components - sexual attraction, aesthetic/physical attraction, romantic attraction, emotional attraction, intellectual attraction, etc.... Clearly Grey Worm is attracted to Missandei and cares about her, even without, well, whatever he's missing. The absence of testosterone, assuming he's missing the "stones", can impact the degree and expression of that attraction, though.

Personally I still dislike Oberyn's death probably the most in the series, cause it's such a waste that wasn't really worth it. Like yeah, ooh shock value, suspense for Tyrion, sets up his next arc and the mountain's change, blah blah etc. I would have gladly given up all that drama and suspense for the opportunity to see more of Oberyn in the series. The charm, the wit, the choreo. Easily worth more for me.

I am unironically on the side of your initial reaction to Ygritte's death. I was never personally invested in their relationship, unfortunately think Ygritte's character majorly suffered in general once she wasn't on screen with Jon all the time, and completely agree that poetically it made sense that Olly killed her considering his origin story. It is of course sad, but more like...sad on paper than something that ever made me emotional.

In the books, ser Jorhan was a creep. He kissed Dany who was 14 at the time. I'm glad they did his character better, but I'll never see him the same way. And Tyrion too...He was so disturbing and almost r*ped Sansa during their wedding night. He WANTED Sansa (a kid a kid at 13) and was disappointed that she saw him as ugly💀
On regarding shae, yes, she loved tyrion it wasnt a lie. But she felt cast aside because of sansa, instead of realising tyrion loved only her and was trying to protect her. So she didnt leave, we dont know if cersei or tywin captured her before she could, or she just stayed on her own. My guess is she stayed and went to tywin herself, which gave both the opportunity to use her against tyrion in the trial
I personally think Ollie had rights to his kill on Ygritte. It was a fair one. Although I'm assuming the Crows have killed their fair share of innocent wildlings too and have scum amongst their ranks. lol I believe Jon's relationship with Ygritte was more fleshed out in the books. Some notes on that last scene in case no one mentioned it already: 1 - Tyrion and Jaime depart on WILDLY different terms in the book version of that scene. Tldr; Jaime confesses that Tyrion's previous wife Tysha (who we heard about briefly in I think season 2) actually *wasn't* a prostitute and really did love him, before Tywin did the horrible things that he did to her as punishment for Tyrion wedding a commoner. Tyrion is understandably infuriated and insults Jaime, lies that he actually did poison Joffrey, and when he goes up to the tower there's zero ambiguity that he's going up there to murder Tywin. 2 - re: Shae, I'm not sure it's spelled out but yes it is implied she wasn't some snake out to get Tyrion, but also likely the victim of circumstances. In the book she's like 15 or 16 and shown to be a bit ignorant at times, and iirc ( i may be misremembering) she's mentioned to be bruised by the time they get to trial, implying some possible abuse to get the testimony out of her.
about shae, she really did love tyrion but because of his last words to her she truly believed that he didn’t love her back in the end. her actions at the trial and in tywins room are out of spite.

There are rumours that the Mountain didn't do those things to Elia and her kids. So it's theorized that while Oberyn was fighting for Tyrion, he was winning because Tyrion was innocent, but once he changed it to a trial about Gregor Clegane, the gods' favor switched and he lost because Gregor didn't really do it.

Dany grew up with her weirdo brother and was treated like property her entire life most likely. Yes she's a "queen", but I think that now that she's her own person, she wants human connection too and to have people she loves and can trust around her. I'd say that missandei, grey worm and jorah are her new found family. She treats missandei like a little sister from what I've seen.
I think people say that because truthfully there is a huge difference in power and dynamic of their relationship. It’s like saying Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were friends. Sure they were. But there was a power dynamic there that makes that friendship driven more by survival than true love and care for one another. It’s odd when those lines are blurred.
In the books they say twiwyn was the worse smelling corpse everyone had seen, that everyone could smell how rotten he had always been on the inside and that it didn't matter the fortune spent in roses at the funeral people couldn't stand being near it. Tommen threw up

If I recall even Cervei gets angry at the maester about the smell and the maester basically says "I did literally everything I could 🤷♂️", and I can't remember if it was intentional or not but his corpse is left with a smile on his face that is actually described as humiliating and stupid looking for what was perceived as such a stern and powerful man.

The interpretation of Tyrion is so different in the show! In the books, it's not 'self-defence', he just blatantly murders Shay and she dies smiling because she doesn't want to fight back against him. In the show they wanted to keep Tyrion likable (and with a good relationship with Jaime) because he was a fan favourite, but Tyrion gets so much darker in the books. For example, a hugely important detail that was entirely omitted from the show is that the REAL reason he murders Tywin is because Jamie reveals to Tyrion that his first wife Tysha, who he thought loved him until he found out she was a whore, was ACTUALLY just a common woman who truly fell in love with him. She was NEVER a whore! But when Tywin found out that Tyrion had married her (a commoner), he made Jamie tell him that Tysha was a whore that Jamie paid to pretend to love Tyrion. Then Tywin had Tysha taken to the barracks and raped by his guards after which he forced Tyrion to rape her too. When Jamie reveals this to Tyrion in the dungeon, that is really what sends Tyrion into the darkness and resolves him to kill Tywin. (not a show spoiler because this is never revealed in the show, which I think was a hugely wrong choice!)
The fact that they had Jamie and Tyrion's last interaction here be all brotherly and loving is one of the changes I hate the absolute most. To me, it's the beginning of them taking away characters' depth. The revelations in that last exchange (the truth about Tysha for Tyrion and "Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy for all I know" for Jamie) haunt the characters through the last 2 books. This whole ending started the flattening of Tyrion's character into just good rather than being a multidimensional character who could do violent and selfish things, and flattened Jamie's character into just loyal to Cersei, rather than giving Jamie an existential crisis that causes him to lean away from Cersei. Just drives me crazy that the show slowly started making characters all good or all bad when the source material made every single character as complicated as real people are.

I’m not gonna lie Tyrion lost me after season four it’s like they didn’t know what to do with him. They should’ve made him more villainous GRRM wanted him to be more of a justified villain because he had a lot of reasons to be angry and do what he did in the books

Plus, he had time for telling her himself instead of letting go hoping nobody would find out. He could have been sincere with her, but he never told her. So he ended up getting caught, even if not being a traitor anymore

While I agree Jorah should have told her way earlier himself, I feel he didn’t really defend himself that well. Maybe he was shell shocked how things turned. But, she basically absolved her followers back in season 1 before she went into Drogo’s pyre. She said anyone that remains gets to start over and follow her. I think Jorah could have said I was on the fence but when I saw you after the fire with the Dragons that is when I feel to my knees and fully committed himself to her. Not sure if it would help, but he could have made a stronger argument.

Brinne's fight is my favorite fight of the show. They start "knightly" like, using swords and relying on their armor. But fighting isn't clean and glorious, at the end, they are just two people struggling to survive against one another, they are dirty, sweaty and bloody, using every inch of their strength to beat one another to death, and that's brutal and horrific. The performance of Gwendoline Christie is just perfect to encompass that, her screams are chilling and real. I love that scene so fucking much!
So in the books it was very obvious that shay was only with Tyrion for money and riches. She kept asking him for it and when she would get new fancy stuff from him but he was so blinded and didn't even think she could betray him. In the show I feel like she was a different character were she actually loved him until he told her to leave and called her a whore.
Tbf in the book Tyrion betrayed her first - he repeatedly changed the terms of their contract without her consent, and also took back the payment already rendered. She arguably both liked him AND wanted her fair payment. Plus he told her what happened to his last wife, so she knew going against Tywin was a fate worse than death.
I definitely think that’s a pretty good read on their dynamic in the books. There’s also more of an uncomfortable power dynamic because book Shay is far younger and because she doesn’t love Tyrion, is sort of just trapped in this really dangerous work situation. So she’s very openly just after his money, but also he’s blinded by his feelings for her and this power dynamic he’s created where her survival depends on this much older man. She betrays him, but also is crying and begging for him not to hurt her when he kills her, if I recall. So the whole scene is really different.
The men reciting their vows as they hold the gait against the giant is one of the most emotionally impactful moments of the series for me

The old man who Bran meets has a super interesting backstory that isn’t elaborated on in the show. His name is Brynden Rivers, aka Bloodraven (because he has a red birthmark on his face in the shape of a raven). Bloodraven was the bastard son of King Aegon IV aka Aegon the Unworthy. When his bastard half brother Daemon Blackfyre rebelled against the throne, Bloodraven stood by his true born brother, King Daeron II, and killed Daemon and two of hei sons in battle. When Daeron died, his son Aerys I became king and Bloodraven was his Hand/Master of Whisperers. He used his abilities as a warg to spy on people. There was a common saying in this era, “How many eyes does Bloodraven have? A thousand eyes and one” since he lost an eye in battle. He was also Hand to Maester Aemon’s father, Maekar, but after he died, there was a succession crisis. Bloodraven promised Aenys Blackfyre safe passage to King’s Landing so he could make a claim to the throne, but then Bloodraven beheaded him anyway. Maester Aemon’s brother, Aegon, became king and sentenced Bloodraven to death for the murder of Aenys Blackfyre, but he chose to take the black. Maester Aemon went with him. Bloodraven ended up becoming Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, but when he was in his 70s he went missing North of the Wall. People assumed his died, but we know now that he became the Three Eyed Raven. Right now, he’s 124 I think. Also, back in season 2, Arya told Tywin about Queen Visenya Targaryen, who had a Valyrian steel sword called Dark Sister. Bloodraven was the last person to wield Dark Sister and it’s probably in the cave with him now, but we never actually see it. Bloodraven probably killed a bunch of Targaryens in order to make sure the Prince that was Promised would be born (it’s theorised that this person is either Jon or Daenerys but who knows). He’s the ultimate puppet master and has been manipulating everything for the last 100 years.
Later in the show, we hear about a sellsword company in Braavos called the Golden Company, which was founded by Bloodraven’s half brother, Aegor Rivers, aka Bittersteel. Bloodraven and Bittersteel were enemies, just like their mothers (their mothers’ houses, House Blackwood and House Bracken have been rivals for hundreds of years and Bittersteel and Bloodraven inherited the feud). Bittersteel was a part of Daemon Blackfyre’s rebellion and was the one who cut out Bloodraven’s eye. He fled to Essos with the rest of Daemon’s children and founded the Golden Company.

Removing just the "pillar" wouldn't affect the sex drive, but removing the "stones" definitely can reduce it, but not always, and not necessarily completely. It doesn't change someone's natural sexual orientation. It just impacts the degree to which those feelings might be felt. And of course sexuality also has different components - sexual attraction, aesthetic/physical attraction, romantic attraction, emotional attraction, intellectual attraction, etc.... Clearly Grey Worm is attracted to Missandei and cares about her, even without, well, whatever he's missing. The absence of testosterone, assuming he's missing the "stones", can impact the degree and expression of that attraction, though.

Personally I still dislike Oberyn's death probably the most in the series, cause it's such a waste that wasn't really worth it. Like yeah, ooh shock value, suspense for Tyrion, sets up his next arc and the mountain's change, blah blah etc. I would have gladly given up all that drama and suspense for the opportunity to see more of Oberyn in the series. The charm, the wit, the choreo. Easily worth more for me.

I am unironically on the side of your initial reaction to Ygritte's death. I was never personally invested in their relationship, unfortunately think Ygritte's character majorly suffered in general once she wasn't on screen with Jon all the time, and completely agree that poetically it made sense that Olly killed her considering his origin story. It is of course sad, but more like...sad on paper than something that ever made me emotional.

@@giaezrae that’s what I am stating. Shae never loved Tyrion in the books and they made her too likeable in the show thanks to the actress, so the viewer does not see the full picture coming. It’s just used as justification of her murder by Tyrion since she attacked him unlike the books. She canonically never loved him and so I will stand by that since the show ruined that dynamic.

In the books, ser Jorhan was a creep. He kissed Dany who was 14 at the time. I'm glad they did his character better, but I'll never see him the same way. And Tyrion too...He was so disturbing and almost r*ped Sansa during their wedding night. He WANTED Sansa (a kid a kid at 13) and was disappointed that she saw him as ugly💀

On regarding shae, yes, she loved tyrion it wasnt a lie.
But she felt cast aside because of sansa, instead of realising tyrion loved only her and was trying to protect her.
So she didnt leave, we dont know if cersei or tywin captured her before she could, or she just stayed on her own. My guess is she stayed and went to tywin herself, which gave both the opportunity to use her against tyrion in the trial

I believe Jon's relationship with Ygritte was more fleshed out in the books. I didn't think they got enough time in the show for me to really get attached to her. Anyway, love your reactions. :)

Some notes on that last scene in case no one mentioned it already:
1 - Tyrion and Jaime depart on WILDLY different terms in the book version of that scene. Tldr; Jaime confesses that Tyrion's previous wife Tysha (who we heard about briefly in I think season 2) actually *wasn't* a prostitute and really did love him, before Tywin did the horrible things that he did to her as punishment for Tyrion wedding a commoner. Tyrion is understandably infuriated and insults Jaime, lies that he actually did poison Joffrey, and when he goes up to the tower there's zero ambiguity that he's going up there to murder Tywin.
2 - re: Shae, I'm not sure it's spelled out but yes it is implied she wasn't some snake out to get Tyrion, but also likely the victim of circumstances. In the book she's like 15 or 16 and shown to be a bit ignorant at times, and iirc ( i may be misremembering) she's mentioned to be bruised by the time they get to trial, implying some possible abuse to get the testimony out of her.

There are rumours that the Mountain didn't do those things to Elia and her kids. So it's theorized that while Oberyn was fighting for Tyrion, he was winning because Tyrion was innocent, but once he changed it to a trial about Gregor Clegane, the gods' favor switched and he lost because Gregor didn't really do it.
