HIII guys! Sorry for the late upload this week, I was exhausted from our Halloween party (aand also The Walking Dead PLUS Stranger Things? C'mon). I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's something that I had tons of fun with so I hope you at least have some fun! Also I'm no historian so feel free to let me know about any inaccuracies, I love learning about this time period. OH and yeah I went a little crazy with the editing and references, but it's been a while so I think it all just got bottled up and 'SPLODED. Okay, bye I LOVE YOU ALL!

Loved the video, it was great! And I loved the editing! I'm actually doing a final paper on makeup use for my Graduate Renaissance Drama class, it's a super interesting topic. The blue veins they painted on is how the term "blue bloods" came to be used for aristocracy and the noble class. Makeup was a sign of social mobility and feminity. In drama, there's an added layer of meaning: since all the actors were men (women were banned from being actresses), they denoted female characters by painting their faces completely white with red rouge. That is one of the reasons this style was popularized in the 1500 and 1600's, because lower class women would see these plays and 'know' how the supposed upper class ladies wore makeup, because the male actors took their cues from the noblewomen, who in turn often times looked to Queen Elizabeth I for inspiration, who was known for her 'mask' of white makeup. It's just so interesting! That was before Marie Antoinette's time, of course, but it still fascinates me.

They totally used the silk spots to cover up scars. They created a secret language with the sticker placement that acted like fan language or flower language. At some points used to shave off their eyebrows and glue on false eyebrows made out of door mouse pelts when their natural brows were not up to standard. Also court ladies were sometimes known to stuff their cheeks with cork so that their faces looked round and chubby. That along with false teeth would not make for very good conversation.

I admire how you style the wig. I’m doing a Marie Antoinette and as frustrated as I get, I decided to buy the MA wig instead. I’m also making a dress. Lord help me, making the bodice is another story. But hopefully I’ll be done by the end of the month. Love your videos. You’re very encouraging. Thank you so much 💕💕💕

Beautiful look! Love the clothes! But I do feel like the hair had a lot of room for improvement... powdering and teasing the hair would have not only provided the texture needed to make styling easier, but also helped the height and shape of the hair, as well as taking away that unnatural "wiggy" shine, not to mention making things a tiny bit more historically accurate. 💁‍♀️
